Could have leaned more into the “bottom of the sea” design and less into the “we littered in the ocean” historical aspect. Maybe get The Little Mermaid and Flounder to make an appearance for some of that delicious synergy.

What the hell is the point of this? Another money grab by topps. It’s not a reprint of the ‘52 set, yet it’s called “1952.” Hot garbage
Cool set, I woulda personally liked if they all looked like the Yogi.
Ok so what happened was from 1952-1960 they put all the unsold cases in a warehouse. They repeatedly tried to sell them for $5 a case, yes $5 a case!!!! Noone wanted them. So in 1960, Topps decided to clean out a portion of the warehouse and that's when they decided to dump all the unsold cases into the ocean. Also, the gum was MINT GREEN, not pink. I know, I ate a piece some 30 years ago at the national.
@@snerdterguson I had doubts myself, but it was indeed a light green and it tasted like mint. I'm trying to find vids of 1952 packs to see if maybe the pack I ate from was resealed.

JABS! Stop! I understand you are showing us all releases. But this is ridiculous. These companies treat its customers like jerks. A 1952 derived set of cards that were thrown away and this is what they might look like. I seriously scratch my head with some of you guys.

The story was better than the cards, but it does make me wonder how many other overstocked items were dumped in the same fashion over the years.
These remind me of the Donruss Triple Play cards from the 1990's.
I couldn't think of where I've seen this design (not colors but angles) and you nailed it! These are just more than .50-.75c a pack though. Do you like them?

These kinda remind me of the "repacks" from Fairfield, with the one touch, "chase" cards. I like Topps trying to mix it up, but this one kind of threw me off a lil bit. Thanks again, Jabs! 🙏

We pay more for packs so base cards should rise. So 1952 Mickey was in everyone's spokes, card collection and they threw it in the ocean. Come on man! He was the hottest prospect like jrod. Throw his cards in the ocean yeah right.
It was considered overstock in the early 1960s-70s... Had no influnce of collectable prices... If it did, it would of blown the prices right out of the water...

At this point Topps is just printing any garbage on card stock and sending it out to the masses. If they produced less garbage like this and spent more time on QC, maybe so many people wouldn’t be PO’ed

Topps is worse now than when we had all the different manufacturers in the 90s pumping out sets. Just one odd meaningless set after another with the typical generic parallels. We are truly in junk wax 2.0, but just a more boring version.

It's such a cool idea but such a disappointing execution tbh. I thought looking like it was at the bottom of the ocean was going to lead to cool watercolor designs or something, not just putting the names and logos in a triangle. They should do something like this but instead of the stupid way they did it they should just have a like, 100 card set where they commission people do paint the players in watercolor or something.

Well these are certainly.........unique. Not really my thing. I would have preferred a '52 set including players from that era. It just doesn't make sense to have modern players on a set that was supposedly discarded in the sea. I like cards that have stats and information and these don't really fit that bill. They're unique, but not for '52. If the price was lower it could be fun, but my goodness that is way too expensive. These have a Triple Play feel to them. Outside of that J-Rod woodgrain card I really don't see anything of value in there.

This is click bait by topps. Not yours. We are going back to junk wax era. Except for foil or numbered cards. Funny how the impact of buying cards has improved since maybe 2011 with Mike trout saving collections. Save all your cards folks it's going back to the old days with these off-shoot sets.

Be smart, don't buy this it's a ploy to turn our cards into worthless cardboard. It's funny how since trout it's been a merry go round with prices. How is a Derek jeter rookie or griffey jr less than these jokes. Also, even judge rookie psa 10 never rose that much it's going back to junk wax except if you have a numbered card. That's it. It used to be about star players now it's only about rookies who may or may not make it. And mostly they don't make it vary
