Hey, I know that airport! Almost 20 years ago, they changed it where the shop sell their goods at street prices rather than the insanely high airport prices. Nice that you chose to do this flight on the day of the Summer Solstice.
Anyhow, good view of the Light Rail and the Angle Lake Station. Good view of Angle Lake. Good views of the Green River Valley. Good views of Kent. Very good view of the Auburn Supermall. Good views of Algona and Pacific. Great view of Lake Tapps.
And OUTSTANDING view of Rainier!! WOWOWOWOWOOW!!!! Rainier is the most glaciated mountain in the 48 states. It also has the highest prominence of any mountain in the Continental US. One day, you're going to have to hike up to the top of this mountain.
Fun fact: there are about 1100 glaciers in the 48 states. At least 800 of them are in WA State. Oregon and Idaho don't come anywhere near as close.
Looks like you went by the Wallowas and later, passed by the Salmon River Mountains in ID. If you go north of there a ways, you'll be in the Frank Church Wilderness Area or the River of No Return Wilderness Area. Way back around 1930, they called it the Primitive Area.
Wonderful view of the area coming into SLC. I confess that I've never been to SLC at all or that area. My girlfriend has, but I haven't.
Be glad you weren't in Seattle this week. Yesterday, we literally had the worst air quality on this entire planet because of the wildfire smoke. Part of the WA and OR Cascades were in the Hazardous Range. We had a cold, wet spring, including June and then, the driest summer ever recorded.
This is all courtesy of the triple-dip La Nina that's been tightening its grip in the Southern Pacific Ocean, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (The PDO) in the Northern Pacific Ocean which is a smaller and separate oscillation than the ENSO (El Nino Southern Oscillation), water vapor from the Tonga volcanic eruption, and also from human caused global climate chaos and breakdown.
The PDO this year is positive, which means it may be warmer than normal this winter, but the La Nina means colder and wetter than normal for the NW. Then throw in the extra water vapor from the Tonga explosion, and we're in for an extraordinarily rare situation and also a wild weather ride this fall and winter.

I love the great view of Ranier. When I fly in or out of Seattle I alway try to get a window facing that way. Superb. I counted 19 planes waiting to take off. At least. At one takeoff every 2 minutes that is a delay of 38 minutes for those at the back. It looked like something you see at O'Hare...

Seattle to SLC is an awesome flight, plus it was nice to "go back in time" and see the beautiful mountains in my state before the wildfire smoke hit. I flew the same flight one month prior on May 21, and there were a lot more clouds--I was disappointed that the cloud cover hid southern Idaho, but on the plus side, there was more snow on the Utah mountains. My flight took off from Sea-Tac to the north, and while your flight passed close to Mt. Rainier, mine flew directly over the summit--something I'd never experienced before when flying out of Sea-Tac. It was extraordinary!!! Back to Utah, I was also sitting on the left and really enjoyed the approach heading south past the airport then turning north to land; fun to see/watch it (again)! SLC is one of the prettiest airports I've flown to, and it's STILL under construction...so I hope to fly there again a couple years down the road when more of it is finished. 🙂

not sure why such a long downwind is needed on approach, considering high visibility and minimal pattern traffic - but oh well, I'm not paying the fuel bill.

I knew it: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. That's why the landscape at Seattle-Tacoma Airport with the mountain: Mount Rainier seemed so familiar to me, because I had taken off and landed at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport many times with my flight simulator, so I've already done the Seattle-Tacoma International route Airport flown to Salt Lake City International Airport and the scenery is very identical to my Microsoft Flightsimulator X.

Yes, I luv Mount Rainier--was a major reason why I moved to Washington State, so I could see it over and over--and I never get tired of it! I've seen it a lot from the air, but in May of this year I got an unusual treat--I happened to also be flying to SLC, and my plane flew directly over the SUMMIT of Mt. Rainier!! 😮 I captured it on video so I can re-live it again and again (the video is on my channel). 🙂
