Frozen Tundra - Original Facenda Narration

Often cited in reference to Lambeau Field, the original narration from John Facenda describing the field conditions at Municipal Stadium. From the playoff game between the Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns most noted for the the infamous "Red Right 88 " play. The narration appears in the 1980 Cleveland Browns highlight film "Kardiac Kids". Alan Hawkshaw's "Superpower" is the accompanying music.

It's funny that it was the Cleveland Brown's Municipal Stadium's extreme coldness that first earned the description of 'Frozen Tundra', while Lambeau Field is now more famous for being called that. The infamous Ice Bowl in 1967 cemented Lambeau Field in football legend as The Frozen Tundra.

The uploader is correct. If asked most NFL fans would assume Facenda said this about Green Bay, or maybe Minnesota. WRONG. It was Cleveland

Frozen tundra was already common phrase in newspapers before Facenda uttered the famous phrase. Sabol borrowed the periodical “frozen tundra”for NFL films. Doubting Thomas’s can look it up.
