Thanks for this. Great work. I did my GTX 300 2020 today and only used a heat gun instead of a torch to soften the wear ring. One note- the "65" spec on the 10mm bolt for the steering should be noted as in-lbs rather than ft lbs. Also in salt water (sw florida) so removed the old loctite and added 2-4-6 grease to each bolt as suggested.
Thank you for a great video. Your step by step detail made this job very easy. I do need to say that watching your video completely before I did anything removed any hesitance I had of doing the repair.
Awesome video!! I used this video to change my wear ring on my 2023 GTI SE 130. I took my sweet time to make sure I did it correctly. Installing the pump assembly was the hardest part. Plus my IBR arm doesn’t stay up like yours so it was constantly in the way. Are you not on Instagram anymore?
I actually just rebuilt one a few hours ago, but I didn’t have time to record it. When I rebuild mine for my sportster in the off season I’ll make a video.
Those set screws people would actually ad them back in the two stroke days to prevent 139mm and 155mm wear rings from spinning. Some people would use a drywall screw.
Great video. I am not mechanically inclined at all but do understand a little bit. Seems like a fairly easy job. I have a Sea-Doo GTX 230 at what point would I have to take a look at the Ware ring? I have 110 hours on my Sea-Doo and I am the first and only owner of my ski.
Awesome video! Doing this now on rxtx 325 with Solas impeller. My nose cone barely had any grease from factory, not even 1/4 full. Just to clarify, you're saying to not use the green cone that comes with the Solas, the stock is better? Wondering why and also if I should fill my bearing and the black cone fully with xps grease? Thank you, I subscribed!
@@rg9580 you grease the splines on the driveshaft heavily. The factory impeller boot is better because it doesn’t corrode and seals better to protect the grease.
Hi! Thanks for great videos. You might have mentioned it, but could you tell me if there are any year of seadoo that things changed significantly making these videos non relevant? I am looking at buying a 2017 Seadoo 230 GTR. Is this the same prosess and parts?
Excellent video!! I replaced the wear ring on my 2022 rxp x 300 and the impeller boot did not screw on? It stayed on the shaft and just pushed into the impeller. I ran to the dealer and bought the stock one that threads on. Is that common for them to come with a different boot?
I have minor damage "chips" on the inside of the impeller housing where those "metal walls' go around. Is that something I should be concerned about or will that be ok?
I might have stripped the Set screws but still put loctide on them and put them in & also i added yamaha marine all purpose marine grease into the pump cone to add some to the original seadoo grease, what do yall think??

Great video but I have a question. I got the WR012 TOOL to change the impeller but i can't figure out what size socket to get to fit on the WR012 spline tool . Any one know? Thanks for the video and thanks in advance
Do you put any grease on the jet pump threaded shaft before you put the new impeller on, or any grease inside the impeller splines before you put the impeller boot back on?
You use anti seize on the threads of the impeller shaft. I don’t put grease inside the impeller splines, but you can. I just put it on the driveline shaft splines per the manual.
I have a 22 RXPX 300 with about 20 hours on it. What’s your opinion on me changing to a solas 13/18 impeller and putting on a stainless steel ring. There’s nothing wrong with mine… but from a performance standpoint is it worth it?
I don’t like stainless wear rings because (at least where I live) I see the impellers get worn out very fast with a stainless ring. There’s no point in putting a 13/18 on unless you have a tune.
Thanks for the video. What seals do I need and what grease do I need to get? Like can you get me a list of everything I need besides the tools? Sorry this is my first time
@@SaltyDogPerformance @. 22:45 i think its red locktite you use but 10 seconds prior you say if you use it it will destroy the threads so i just wanted to verify
You need to use the XPS jet pump bearing grease from BRP. Watch my jet pump rebuild video and you will see that I just use the remainder of the amount in the tube. One tube will do a complete pump rebuild.
What year is this my 2020 RX PX, the IBR and the cones are held on by the same bolts for for the cone two for the upper bracket. It’s always a pain in the ass to put back in but not undoable.
Good explanation on the videos, haven't seen you on here in a while. You still in the NWFL area? Need to get with you about a 2008 Seadoo GTX 215 that I am working on, would like to pick your brain about some things.
Great informative video the best i have seen! If you dont mind me asking why dont you use a stainless steel wear ring instead?? I was thinking about switching myself to one.
I prefer plastic. As the impeller speed increases the impeller heats up and expands. Better to have a metal impeller edge making contact with plastic wear ring and not metal. Lessens the wear of the impeller.
@@alisonrahn9873 depends on how well you clean your jet pump area. The driveshaft has a teflon coating on the end of it where is spins inside the seals. That part will start to rust and the teflon coating crack. That will wear out the seals and then allow water to get in. I’ve seen some only last a year. Some last a few. All comes down to cleaning
@@SaltyDogPerformance where are you located ? Do you service other people’s skis? I just bought a 2023 seadoo 130 gti se. 200 hours on it. They recommended replacing pump, wear and shaft already. Quoted 1800
Thanks for the reply! I'm planning to do my wear rings soon and my impeller has some minor chips in it after only 30 hours, do you recommend the stock impeller or a different Solas impeller?
It’s Loctite 518 which is red in color, but not “Red Loctite” which is 271. Loctite 518 is a flange sealant. I say that in the video and show exactly what it is. Red Loctite 271 is thread locker.
You have to drill all the way through for the set screws to bite into it. If you don’t, the screw will push out on the wear ring and you have a bump that won’t allow the impeller to be reinstalled. Service manual tells you to drill the holes. Even when you get a ski new from the factory the holes are drilled all the way through the wear ring.
That's not a leaking unit, you'll see a lot more water than that. And please don't use Ebay seals , they won't last more than a month in the bearing unit. Good job , never though of heating the plastic like that, and I've changed so many of those rings.
I only use OEM parts for things like that. Also, just because you don’t see water in the pump cone, doesn’t mean that water isn’t getting past the first seals. I just did a jet pump rebuild for a guy and the shaft was extremely rusty and water had gotten past the first two seals. A little longer and it would have gotten past the 3rd seal and gotten into the bearing.
