Anybody who thinks 2024 is a done deal is wrong. The BJP is ahead. The surprising clean sweep in 3 assembly elections has definitely been a huge setback to INC. They needed to win at least either Rajasthan or MP to create a momentum but they ended up losing Chhattisgarh too where they were shown to be comfortably winning and had launched several welfare schemes plus OPS. This means somewhere the political strategy of INC is not working or else they had certainly campaigned well both in MP and Rajasthan.
In Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot had launched an early campaign to negate the anti-incumbency and even in MP the Congress had launched a spirited campaign though the BJP did make strong comeback by responding with several added welfare schemes. Yet the huge gap of victory must have surprised the INC.
The INC really needs to finalize its alliances in all the key states. It is now evident that INDIA alliance after a decent start is not going to materialize. But if INC can decide on its alliance in key states of Maharashtra Bihar and probably work up an alliance with AAP in Delhi Punjab Haryana Uttarakhand then with its base in South India it might just enthuse enough voters in its base in Hindi Heartland states to stage a comeback.
But now is the time for INDIA alliance to decide on its seat sharing. Or else it will be too late. I mean elections are due in May and June. They need some time for the voter to warm up to them.
