That is the exact reason, it is not money but it feels strongly like a calling, I have spent 14 years in software engineering and now every time there's job change there's no excitement, handsome money but no excitement it almost feels like waiting for a natural career death. Tech sales feels like a calling, researched on it since few months.
Considering all my friends and the friends I usually endup making are always from marketing/sales background none friends from software engineering field, clubbed with a very strong experience in tech domain, some entrepreneurial background, some experience in direct marketing sales and my love for socialising meeting people, now made the definite choice to do the transition, let's see how well it goes giving it a shot.

I'm just started getting into tech stales not because of money but the skills and work you do. I previously held software engineer title and was very introverted.
I'm in the transitioning phase of finding something that excites me.

just about to start my higher education(pre-u) and was looking around for some sort of path for my life when I came across a video talking about tech sales and was really interested by the general concept of being the middle man between businesses and problem solving. Ended up on your video after a couple others and what you said about this being a job for more competitive people really hit me 😁.

I am starting to see this job get a lot of attention this year. I found one of my community colleges offer a boot camp. No doubt this career is super hot. It reminds me of when schools started to offer computer certification programs like A+, Network +, CCNA, and MCSE. Then later Front End Development boot camps started being offered and in community colleges as well. I see another video talking about how all companies give equity as this is how it is different from other sales jobs. I will agree an offer of equity appears common , I am not thinking all companies offer it. It is nice you have videos like this that touch upon the realities of the job as well.

Thank you for the helpful information. I am mid-30s, with an undergraduate degree that is unrelated to tech and 4-5 years of sales experience, not b2b cold calling sales experience though. Definitely more than possible, I've worked with a lot of people in their 30s and 40s that switched in. It's really just a matter of conveying your experience in tech sales terms and showing you have a clear desire to transition into tech sales. It's a hot topic right now so a lot of people are just chasing the next thing.

Thanks a lot for this useful information. Would you happen to know whether these tech companies hire worldwide? I am Kenyan and would love to get enrolled in course career but before I do, I want to be sure about that so that I don’t end up losing my money

    • @techsales-higherlevels

Hey Millie, in almost all cases I have currently seen US based companies hire people in the US. There may be cases where global comapanies are looking to break into the African market. I've also seen a few folks based in Africa sell to the European market.
That being said from my own experience I have never seen someone based in a different continent work for a US based role. I hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions!
