2023 FX Cruiser HO with only 7 easy hours and the carpet on the brand new trailer rubbed a portion of the paint off after one launch. Plus, the port side graphics sticker started falling off in fresh water after a couple hours of use at break in speeds. Makes me miss my all white hull 2006 Sea Doo GTX.
So Kevin, whats the price difference for yamaha to go back to the original Gel coats they used on their old fiber glass hulls vs the painted hulls today. Obviously Gel coat holds up much better than painted hulls and doesn't crack. Did yamaha go to paint because its cheaper and looks better?
Paint is super soft for sure. 2024 GP HO with about 20 hours. This ski will never be beached hasnt touched sand will only touch my bunks and water. I love the ski but I have light scratches from my bunks.
I load my ski in TDE mode going a literal 1 MPH every time, put the trailer deep enough into the water to cover the fenders with water once the ski stops from TDE I then get off strap her on an crank her up without a rider on it still have scratches from loading it 8-10 times.
Fresh water only nothing rough other than some wind blown lake chop and wake from boats.
Makes me scared to drop $24000 on a VX
Yamahas already had paint chips and scuffs all over their “brand new” and “freshly uncrated” 2023/2024 models here in British Columbia. I love their machines but damn they need to fix this

I missed the main show which is why I did my superchat after. I need to stop obsessing over the STX just because I own one. I do wonder why Kawasaki added cruise control to the base STX-160 for 2024. Kinda made the X model pointless because you can just buy the 160 and add improved handlebar grips yourself or whatever. I’m also in favor of trim on the LX not KSRD like you suggested. I’m ok with the manual reverse. Would much rather have trim. But that’s just my opinion. What do I know? You’re the expert

I have not looked at 2024 STX. They had cruise on the base model but it was not adjustable. Are you saying base model now has the variable cruise control now?

Hey Kevin, on the STX-160 you get the 2 keys. Full power and SLO(W) keys
This is true. But again, there is no "mode" button like what you'll find on the Ultras.

STX 160 launched for 2020, not 2022. Just a minor comment.
Kevin, for choppy waters you prefer the GTI hull instead of the ST3 hull. Is the GTI platform the best hull of sea doo for choppy conditions?

Would a clear bra work on a Yamaha hull? (Thia sounds like this is a Nano and Nao 2 issue? What year did this start? Did they change paint?)
Hey Kevin, have you heard of or made content in regards of Yamaha PWC's with audio not being able to connect/pair up to phones? I bought a new 2023 VX Limited HO and it wont pair up to my phone or anyone else's. Met another VX owner and my phone paired to his ski but his phone also wouldn't pair to my ski. The wires from the fuse panel for the audio (PBS) are wired to the battery. The audio does power on and attempts to pair but then fails. I have taken my ski back to the dealer for them to check it out and they don't have an answer to the problem but want to charge me $149 for shop time. I know of 4 others from a FB owners page that have the same issue and 2 of us have dealers that are "waiting to hear back from Yamaha tech".
I am very curious about the reliability of the new 1.9L HO motor. I know the 1.8L was an engine with great reliability, but I am always a little wary the year after major updates...especially with all the updates and changes they make to the 1.9L. The things I am most concerned with is the new bearing material, reduced oil capacity, changes they made to the cylinder head, etc. Any insight half way through this summer riding season with issues popping up? I have already seen a used one on Marketplace with 100 hours for sale. I have not been able to find anything on Google between the VX, FX, and their jet boats with anyone having issues.
I have the new 1.9, 20 hours on it no issues yet. I have the GP HO, coming from a rxt-x 300. Don't miss my 300. This thing has plenty of power and uses a lot less fuel when your into the throttle.

65 MPH (phone gps) at 2k elevation around 75 degrees. Dash says 66-67
Went to a lake around 1k elevation. Still 65 MPH but it was almost 100 degrees and water wasn't flat.

Hey Kevin I have 2024 fx cruiser ho and I can see some paint marks on my sliders from loading ,what should a guy do to deal with this while there is still paint on hull for most part undamaged . I am almost floating it completely on to trailer as to limit rubbing between trailer sliders and machine .

I feel Kevin got annoyed with my super chats but I continued to get an answer to no manual trim input for Vx cruiser ho 1.9 according to dealer it doesn’t have it and he said it does looking for help and he ignores super chat if you don’t know say you don’t know or explain how it works and dealer is wrong. Just looking for help
David, don't spam the comments section over this one solitary issue or I'll happily ban you. YES the VX Cruiser HO does NOT have trim. The left hand toggle is shared between the TRIM and TDE (Thrust Directional Enhancer) control, but I think you already knew this and wanted an opportunity to "get me," which is petty.
I didn’t want to get you at all just confirmation because I didn’t trust the dealer at all the sales guy seemed to not know anything was hoping you did it was as simple as that no info in manual and no info on Yamaha site whether it did or not it seemed to be a mystery. It appeared it should have it due to controls and had many conflicting it does it doesn’t from other people was trying to settle it but as far as the ban have at it no big deal no threat necessary
Yes, in the heat of a live broadcast I was thrown off by the TDE toggle so I misspoke; thereby you were right to say so. But expecting an immediate answer without me seeking outside confirmation is a little unfair. Give a guy a minute to do his homework.
@@watercraftjournal it’s not about me being right it’s about the thousands of people that will watch that video and assume you are correct it has trim and it doesn’t so for me I kept saying it so you could address it and say it does or doesn’t and teach me if it does because for the life of me I couldnt make it work on my ski but what I got was trim is right there don’t know what’s wrong with his like I’m an idiot good to know you care more about someone showing you up than being right to thousands of people that will watch and go huh mine doesn’t what’s he talking about
