Im a new NBA fan i just started watching it in 2022 and i remember hearing when this happened back when i was in high school thats wild i got recommended this and Ive never seen a speech from Adam Silver that felt so powerful

Amendment Rights protect Sterling and all of us from government action not public perception. Sterling referenced his disdain for black people. This is not illegal and he has every right to say such a thing. But he works in a league where a vast majority of its employees are black. This can, and did, cause an uproar.
If nothing had been done then the NBA brand would have been tarnished. He had to go.
If you ran a business in which you served minorities and you had an employee who said "I hate blacks" what do you think you would do? Your sales would dip, money and respect would be lost if you didn't fire that guy.
Yes this is America and you have rights but that also means Adam Silver can act in his private business' best interests.

Going by NBA 2K14 rosters, an all white team wouldn't be too bad if you include Europeans. If you go strictly white North Americans, it does get significantly worse.
