No wonder he speaks very well and so calm and patient! Admirable! Learned a lot from this video, Ana. Enjoyed Part 2 as much! Now looking forward excitedly to Part 3. 🥳❤️🌺🌸🌼🌵💚
Growmore is out here...a partner used to do their Industrial RE deals. I like Brent's application that includes minors, with a slight increase in sulfur & calcium. I also learned a couple things here. I use a mild liquid broad range (i combine it together myself) fertilizer and have had success, but after watching this video, I might even back off more. Now much is needed ! Brent has an AMAZING collection here. He HAS to be well organized & a workaholic to run & keep track of all of this !! Hope to visit him sometime--I live in AZ. Very nicely complied & produced video's !! Thx !
Brent is a self-confessed OCD. Lol! He does everything almost all by himself. Such passion and dedication. Thanks for watching the series and for leaving informative comments. ☺️☕️
Excellent part two, Ana. Very informative. That spineless Opuntia is awesome, and I don’t say that very often when it comes to those plants as you know haha. Well done to your son for knowing why cacti have spines, awesome 😊 Looking forward to part three. Thank you for sharing with us as always. Have a wonderful day and upcoming weekend from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌺🌸🌼🏜
What a great video, too many important information, beautiful flowers, watching your videos made me got into cactus even more, thank you for your hard work 🌵🌵🌵
I'll have to say Ana, this has been very educational!!! I have enjoyed this series very much!!! These videos have been the best!!! Looking forward to #3!!! Brent is one of those people that is a wealth of knowledge!!! Hats off to Brent!!! From Morris park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a wonderful weekend ahead!!! Peace,Love,Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌸🌲💐🌿🌺🍀🌻🌱🌼🌳😀👍
Thank you Clyde. I thought I was just going there to shop for plants. Totally unexpected! I enjoy reading your comment and hope to see you in Part 3. 🙂
Very beautiful cactus 🌵 plants learn something new about cactus, pretty colors and blossoms on cactus. I'm loving . Will get some liquid grow for tomatoes for them 😉☺️ enjoy your channel love it ❤️❤️❤️
That opuntia! I spent last weekend removing glochids from my arm after accidentally brushing against my beavertail opuntia so i know exactly how you felt when you saw him touching the spineless one. 😱😱😱 I will have to watch this video again because there was just so much information - thank you to you and Brent for sharing your time and talent. Also: your son! So smart! 😍
Lol! The way he handled that Opuntia, I almost screamed. 😱 I use gloves and tongs on mine because like what you experienced, they are mean clingy little hairs. So annoying. 😆 Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. 😃 🌵
Ay kaya nmn pala magaling na bata mana sa nanay. Ayan may gusto n ulit akong opuntia bukod s sta rita haha. Ung opuntia kong malki hayyy ang taas na ayaw ko hawakan o i try man lng itrim ayaw ko tlga sna may magpunta magcollect ipamigay ko ung recently lng n nagflower. Daming tips sis very informative video. Gusto ko pa more more colorful Echinopsis. Dahil s videong to lalo pakong naiinlove s knila haha. Mahirap lng makipag bid s mga Echinopsis mahirap manalo don s binibilan ko magagandang kulay sa ebay.
Ang ganda nga ng mga Echinopsis mo, different colors. Like what Brent said, the European hybridizers are far more advanced. So suwerte ka, you are closer to the source of the new hybrids. 😉
That’s a really cool idea to look at these flower petals on a white plate to really see it’s true color. Now I want to sing Cindy Lauper’s ‘True Colors’ song. 🤣🤣
What's the concentration of the Magnum Rose Food that he uses to fertilize his Tricohocereus and Echinopsis? He vaguely mentioned that he dilutes the fertilizer.
He does it same day. He washes off the cactus body, not the roots. The idea is for the fertilizer to be in the soil and not on the plant which he said may cause burning of the cactus body. 🙂☕️🌵
@10:11 he talks about needing to have mother stick in order to propogate from?? Ohhhhh....does he mean if you want perfect original species kinda thing?
Yes, he uses a mother stock plant for propagation for selling. Only the offsets will have exactly the same flower as the mother plant. Seed grown cacti May exhibit different characteristics than the parent plant.
You should try to use a night mister even for 1 minute each night and it would make the pollen not usable so there would be no cross pollination amongst your plants.
I live in Wisconsin I put my cactus out for the summer (June - September). When it rains they get watered in the winter they get very little water. They've been growing like weeds but no flowers now I can try to get them to bloom.
I have a question about the fertiliser application can you apply it just on the soil and then just put a small amount of water on the soil after so it goes down to the roots my echinopsis are just seedling a year old do I need to fertiliser them.
Yes, it is good to apply it just in the soil. I start fertilizing my seedlings once they are out of the bag, around 4-5 months old. It depends if they are big enough.
Thanks for the response and information about the fertiliser application I will start and use it on the big one and see what they do a good few of them are as thick as my thumb so they should be able to come along and grow as we are half way through winter but these are in the house and under grow light keeping them around 25 degrees in the tent 🎪 thanks to the kaye Nicholls
I bought a cactus 3 days ago. it was bone dry in the pot. When should I water it? I won't repot it until springtime because I know its probably dormant now.
They might not. They need to experience the change in temperature, shorter length of daylight and get less watering for them to go dormant. Unless you can simulate the outside conditions indoors. 🙂
@@CactusCaffeine I live on the sixth floor of a high rise, so my winter temperatures never go below 65F. What I do is to keep my plant area blocked off with blackout curtains and set the timer on my plant lights to come on at sunrise and go off at sunset. Some plants go dormant and some don't.
I fertilize mine heavy and keep wet during the hot weather. They need root insect treatment. I have not had the problems suggested here. One should make their soil like the cactus grow in here in Texas in the line stone crevices. Too much commercial soil.
She said it's unbelievable because she too is a teacher and she admires him being a special education teacher . You didnt quite understand Sending you positive energy 1❤
a true teacher sharing his knowledge of growing cactus, thank you for bringing us to his nursery
I've learned more in this series than I have in years. These plants continue to amaze me
I’m glad. Thanks!

Wonderful content as always Anne, oh it must've felt so good to have all that cactus around you.

magnum rose is a granular product you mix into water
great stuff
What's the concentration of the Magnum Rose Food that he uses to fertilize his Tricohocereus and Echinopsis? He vaguely mentioned that he dilutes the fertilizer.
What type or name brand do you recommend that helps build up the microbes in the media ?
Okay, so how soon after fertilizing, do you come back through to do a light watering to wash off the roots?
He does it same day. He washes off the cactus body, not the roots. The idea is for the fertilizer to be in the soil and not on the plant which he said may cause burning of the cactus body. 🙂☕️🌵

It depends on your climate and where you are keeping it. If it is indoors and warm, you can give it a little water.
I missed hearing about potting mix.
If I keep my plants in the house , will they go dormant? I keep them in same condition.
They might not. They need to experience the change in temperature, shorter length of daylight and get less watering for them to go dormant. Unless you can simulate the outside conditions indoors. 🙂

I thought cactuses and succulents must be fertilized in the spring and the summer
once a fortnight thoroughly?
How does a cactus get its nutrients in nature?
does all cactus blooms?
Olá , falo do Brasil, e gostaria de saber se vocês conseguem me enviar sementes do cacto opuntia basilares?
What about fish fertilizer???
Haven’t tried that yet but if the nitrogen is high, then I wouldn’t use it in cactus. 🙂
Ok. Its organic. I diluted it with more water.. I'll see what happens 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
I need pointy spines to shade me from this texas sun. Really 😎
🤣😂 That is so funny! I feel the same way.
You have a very smart son👍👏
Thank you ☺️
Well I life in Hunsrück (Germany), but I never knew, that a cactus is called Hunsrück Rubin😄
Oh! I did not know that Hansruck is a place in Germany! 🇩🇪 Name making more sense now. ☺️🌵☕️
You could isolate the flower with mosquito net
I notice he uses bigger pots.
Hi I’m Jazmin
I India there is no cactus nursery..and indians believe cactus are not good sign for homes😭
