HI Andy, Really top notch tour and video. Regarding the comment on summer gear it is an absolute must when touring the continent in the summer. I have lived and biked in South West France for nearly twenty years. Arrived in my typical blighty 3 layer gear which was soon abandoned in favour of lighter stuff, and these days a vented summer jacket is my go to from May onwards, as is my open face helmet. Also I ditch any hard armour. I know it sounds daft but ride like you don't want to be a test dummy and hope you are not in someone else's accident is the best when touring. Thanks for another fun episode. I love these multi-day tours and since I have a month until my next, it’s nice living vicariously through your tour. Thanks again.
Yes it defo made it easier knowing they were ready for a catch if needs be!! Couldn’t see it well on camera but there was a steep drop off just to the right of the bike as I reversed out - scary biscuits!!!

As you know, I’m loving this series of vids Andy. However, I also feel your pain when you lose footage due to the cam battery dying. Would you consider running a power bank? I bought one recommended by Richy on his channel and it powers three cameras for two days. It’s called an ‘Anker’ and is available on Amazon for around £60. What I like is that even though it relieves all the worries about your camera dying on route, when you arrive at a town or point of interest your cam is fully charged to let you go off vlogging about that! On the BMW I keep it in the tank bag and run the 2m usb cable up through my jacket up to the helmet in the knowledge that in the event of a tumble it would unplug very easy with no snagging. It has three usb outlets so I also power my reverse cam and my 360 all from the same unit. I only use this config when I’m doing long trips like yours of course. I don’t bother when knocking out a quick vid around the doors. BTW I was laughing out loud less than 2 mins in with this vid. Brilliant trip!🤣🤣👍🏍🎥
Cheers Dave - and yes, I even own one of those Anker power banks and after this trip am seriously thinking about using it in the way you describe - it’s just the hassle of having it in my pocket/running extra wires that puts me off - that said, probably better than losing footage! Glad you’re enjoying the series mate, final episode coming on Monday!
Thanks Mr Flyer and gang, I'm so enjoying your trip through these beautiful scenic routes. I also thought of "The adventures of Baron Von Munchausen" (written by Gilliam and featuring Idle) Reversing your "Goldy" out of storage looked a bit of a worry - that's why I can never own/ride one - Grand tour by moped anyone? I applaud your getting the "Staff" to pay for fuel, very clever - until Mrs Flyer checks her account and catches on to your ploy lol. Keep on doing what you do have fun and stay safe. :>)
Lovely series, not a knock but I apologise as watching you struggle there is why I stick to smaller bikes... if I can't do it on my own... best not! However, good for you and Mrs TMF for cracking on for it!

Also love the " motion lotion" expression. Will be using some of your expressions in the States as most people here only use boring descriptive words. Looking forward to the next episode. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
I have enjoyed watching your tour of Europe seeing all of these beautiful countries. It has been interesting to watch you with these large bikes and at a personal level I now only keep my '21 S1000R Sports as the older you get the less ability you have to manoeuvre "giant" bikes. Looking forward to your final run in this seven series episode. Incidentally I recently watched your trip in the Grand Canary Islands some years ago and you asked about the identity of the trees. They really looked like Australian Eucalypts to me but I don't know what they are doing on that side of the world.
When planning your next trip to Germany you may consider the "Südliche Weinstraße" region (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Wine_Route) between Schweigen and Neustadt an der Weinstraße. It is a paradise for lovers of white wine - the real, dry white wine of Germany, not that sweet kind of "Liebfrauenmilch" being traditionally popular in the UK. Some call that region the "Tuscany of Germany" for its vineyards and the dry, warm climate. And in the Palatinian Forest between Annweiler am Trifels and Hochspeyer you'll find a lot of twisty roads, some broader, well kept ones and some narrow ones, a bit more challenging. Greetings from Germany!
@@TheMissendenFlyer When you were on your diet and in your SCRAM series, you use to be very particular about your food and avoided thing like cakes, fry-ups etc
I have similar problems reversing with my Triumph Rocket III, it's a huge heavy beast, especially fully laden with all my camping gear, and no reverse gear to help. On my last trip to France I pulled into a parking space without thinking, and could not back it out, I had to bump onto the pavement and drive round.
Another great vid. Not sure about not wearing the Helite, it completely defeats the object. I wear Knox Urbane Pro with mine in heat and it’s fantastic with Richa waterproof backups in my luggage. If I didn’t have that setup I’d rather be hot and sweaty and shower afterwards rather than having an injury and lay in hospital or worse if I’d not worn it…
Loving the touring series , booked to go to luxemburg in September. Yes I remember being in France with our gl1800 , thank god for reverse . Be nice if you could apply the screen wash /wiper occasionally mind 😉
What a great way to spend time motorcycle touring , it's hard to beat. Will be very curious to learn your mpg at the end of the trip, I'm hoping at these sorts of speeds the wing isn't as thirsty as you guys obviously are, lol.
I understand your dilemma with the heavy bike I fell off my Africa Twin DCT and wasn't able to pick it up luckily I had phone signal so a friend and his wife came to my rescue lesson learned 😀
It’s all about technique Dot, maybe check out a few of the UA-cam videos on the subject. That said heavy bikes can be awkward to deal with. Thanks for watching.
Not having reverse on my 94 1500 i I always back into a parking spot because I have short legs and not the power to push it backwards. another nice video. Love the horns.
The best video so far from this adventure, seems everyone has wing envy...then again the wing you have does look smart. When it comes to the tunnels everyone knows men never grow up 🤣🤣.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Well, Honda Germany seem to treat the Gold Wing as their best kept secret. I tried to contact them by mail, via their "schedule a test ride" form, to no avail. Finding an individual dealer with a Wing available was not successful either. I am always astonished when I see how everybody and his dog gets to ride one in other countries.
I would have thought that reverse gear on the Gold Wing would have made exiting the garage a breeze. Had it on my '88 and you could back over a curb. Love the videos!
Yes without it I would have been buggerred for sure - the difficulty came from the small steep drop off to my right that the camera didn’t really show….
Loving this series of vids Andy. Will be headed to Germany again next year to see my daughter and will definitely have to set a side a few days for a ride if i can find a bike to rent for a few days. The scenery looks awesome!
Awesome video !!! it looks like you have stolen our summer this year. Alberta Canada has had nothing but rain so far, almost feels like the UK outside this last month. Hopefully July and August smarten up. Need to get some miles on the bikes before i head off to India with work in Sept - December!!!!
I hope the weather improves for you soon - if it’s any consolation it’s been rubbish here in the uk too (at least the bits I’ve been in - rain, rain and more rain)….cold too, 16C is the best we’ve done this week whilst the rest of Europe has had a heatwave 😔
Regarding the overnight parking, I'm probably wrong, but I thought the Goldwing had a 'reverse gear'? Either way, I have to say I would never park anywhere I wasn't able to ride out from without assistance. While I'm on 'a roll' 🙂 Maybe you could clean the screen seeing as the camera is looking straight through it.
Last time I went to Luxembourg I drove extremely carefully and still got 2 speeding tickets in the post when I got home…. 1 for 3kms over and 1 for 5kms over..🤪🤪
Me too . I certainly didn't pay the 100 euro fine or send my licence off to have 2 points put on it . They didn't have the sense to send it recorded delivery so I binned it .
Don't you diss Noraly 🤣....did you see the roads she's been riding 2000ft drop offs on gravel tracks...makes my heart stop every time she gets close to the edge 😬.I'm definitely sticking to the flat tarmac roads😆😆
Thank you for confirming what I always thought. Expensive laminate 'Touring' gear isn't as good as mesh gear and waterproofs, when actually touring at the time we all go touring.
@@TheMissendenFlyer The problem is boots for summer, they don't make them. My X-ADV has my feet shielded like your wing, so I don't really need them waterproof.
Thanks TMF your vid’s are a welcome break between flights sitting in airport lounges. Coming from oz I’m still considering my touring bike options. GS or goldy. Both I hear you say……. That’ll take some bribery
Good luck with convincing her in doors on that one! My view is if you’re riding predominantly two up then the gold wing is the way to go, but if you’re touring solo or of course wish to go off road then the GS is for you. Thanks for watching, all the best - Andy
Great stuff, following this tour. Now that you have done a longer tour with the wing, what have you found to be the advantages \disadvantages over the Gs ? Maybe an idea for a future video. :)
I’ve ridden a Triumph Rocket for the last 3 years and love it. I give and get waves and nods from all types and sizes. I take delivery of my new 2022 dct next week. Question has any Wing owners noticed a drop in road friendly acknowledgment from other riders when on a Goldwing?
Yes I’m afraid that’s a fact of being a gold wing rider Alan, I’m of course used to it as a GS rider too! Congratulations on your new bike you’ll love it, out of interest which colour did you go for?
@@TheMissendenFlyer Pearl White. It was my close second choice over the Blue but I really didn’t want to wait until nearly Christmas. I had an old 1500 wing ten years ago but was plagued with an alternator issue so went back to an F6c. I was hoping maybe the stigma of a Wing had reduced over the years especially with the new design but it is what it is and want change my mind. 😎
Anyone else notice how empty these countries are? Everywhere in the UK is absolutely full, the population density here is one of the highest in the world. We are living like caged hens but we don't even notice.
There's nowt wrong with pineapple on a pizza! Nice to see pothole-free roads instead of our 3rd world ones. I'm with you on the E5 as well, though E0 would be better!
This is a bit like Gogglebox! Motorcyclists sitting at home, watching other motorcyclists ride their bikes! Hehe…. Anyhow, a nice enjoyable series- cheers! On a slightly different note…… Andy, is it time to dust off the Interceptor? All the blood sweat and tears getting it how you wanted it - let’s spend some time with it!
The gold wing looks like a comfortable bike for touring with a passenger. I'm still not sure it would be the right bike to do the Wild Atlantic Way two up though 🤔
Tire pressure should be set with cold tires. If the light goes off when ur tires warm up, the pressure is still to low.
That winking scene with the lady at the hotel was cringing 😬 Oh Ian 🤦🏻

Thank you for the suggestions Giorgio! Next time!
Love watching these, thank you!
Sports mode? More like beast mode. Keep up the great work.
Yes it transforms the bike that!
Back to the theme - Crikey Andy a family pizza each 😋 Cheers, Gordon
Not sure I understand??
@@TheMissendenFlyer When you were on your diet and in your SCRAM series, you use to be very particular about your food and avoided thing like cakes, fry-ups etc
I have similar problems reversing with my Triumph Rocket III, it's a huge heavy beast, especially fully laden with all my camping gear, and no reverse gear to help. On my last trip to France I pulled into a parking space without thinking, and could not back it out, I had to bump onto the pavement and drive round.
Oh dear - yes you do have to plan a bit with these big bikes don’t you - the forward and reverse creep modes on the GW are brilliant…
Another great vid. Not sure about not wearing the Helite, it completely defeats the object. I wear Knox Urbane Pro with mine in heat and it’s fantastic with Richa waterproof backups in my luggage. If I didn’t have that setup I’d rather be hot and sweaty and shower afterwards rather than having an injury and lay in hospital or worse if I’d not worn it…
Great vlog again I just love that goldwing of yours 5 stars bill near durham
Yes it’s lovely isn’t it….
Loving the touring series , booked to go to luxemburg in September. Yes I remember being in France with our gl1800 , thank god for reverse . Be nice if you could apply the screen wash /wiper occasionally mind 😉
Yes that crossed my mind once or twice too!!
Maybe it was the camera, but reversing out that garage looked easy.....
I made it look easy 😉
They don't wave because they think it's a Burgmann scooter. 😁
What a great way to spend time motorcycle touring , it's hard to beat. Will be very curious to learn your mpg at the end of the trip, I'm hoping at these sorts of speeds the wing isn't as thirsty as you guys obviously are, lol.
Hehe - it wasn’t as thirsty as the V4!!
Really enjoyed the video reminds me of the 60s and 70s when we used to tour , enjoy it as long has you can because of old age i now tour on my owen
Thanks for the advice Chris, we are very aware that we are on this planet for a short time!
Yes great tip John, you only go in forwards on a down slope once in your biking life don’t you!
Great vid as usual TMF, as to the wind turbines I wonder if father Ted explains it well with some model cows and far away references.
Little spray wax on the windshield when you stop once in a while much more pleasant view 🤓👍🏻 just saying. 😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦
Thanks for taking us with you. I heard the new 2022 Goldwing had more luggage capacity.
Indeed it does (well from the 2020 model actually)…
The best video so far from this adventure, seems everyone has wing envy...then again the wing you have does look smart.
When it comes to the tunnels everyone knows men never grow up 🤣🤣.
Amen!
Pizza looked great and thanks for not chewing on camera. I can’t believe how many UA-camrs think people want to see them shove food in their gullet.
Fair enough Doug, thanks for watching and I must remember never to do that!
My fingers were crossed for you coming out of that lock up! Nice tour.😎
Thanks Jon - it didn’t look much on the GoPro but there was a small but steep drop off just to my right as I backed it out…scary!
after watching you reverse out with the Goldwing, i am super happy that i have my Honda Forza 350... hahahahahaha
Really enjoying your enthusiasm! Waiting to see more Gold Wing stuff. Too bad I have been unable to organise a test ride for two years now.
Why’s that??
@@TheMissendenFlyer Well, Honda Germany seem to treat the Gold Wing as their best kept secret. I tried to contact them by mail, via their "schedule a test ride" form, to no avail. Finding an individual dealer with a Wing available was not successful either. I am always astonished when I see how everybody and his dog gets to ride one in other countries.
Oh dear - sorry to hear that!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Oh, never mind, the Road King keeps doing a perfect job of carting Mrs FLHFD and myself around.
It sure is Bob, definitely worth doing - enjoy!
Ethanol gives you less mpg per gallon but more octane. Here in the US e10 is the standard and e15 has recently been approved for year round use
You sure about the octane? Here I’m pretty sure e5 is higher octane than e10….
Vases.."No, no forget it" 😆🏆
You have to be firm with these types of people…
@@TheMissendenFlyer You handled it like a champ !
I can’t believe that you didn’t know it was their first trip until the last day.
Why would I have done?
Another great video, really enjoying the series.
Last episode coming on Monday - stay tuned!
Goldwing sounds awesome.
Doesn’t it just Martin love the sound of the mighty wing!
Just 20 miles south from here you can see 6 contries: North and South Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland and Isle of Man.
Ooh clever!
Well done reversing that wing out of the garage, have you considered taking your HGV test? 😂
There’s a thought!
I was just getting settled in and then "to be continued" lol good stuff !
Always leave them wanting more! Next episode coming in short order on Monday, stay tuned…
@@TheMissendenFlyer legend!
Yes it does have a reverse creep mode - that’s what I used to move the bike out…
Last time I went to Luxembourg I drove extremely carefully and still got 2 speeding tickets in the post when I got home…. 1 for 3kms over and 1 for 5kms over..🤪🤪
Oh dear!!
Me too . I certainly didn't pay the 100 euro fine or send my licence off to have 2 points put on it . They didn't have the sense to send it recorded delivery so I binned it .
Lovely tour !! I couldn't eat like that lunchtime, i'd be as fat as a pig by the time I got home😉
Don't you diss Noraly 🤣....did you see the roads she's been riding 2000ft drop offs on gravel tracks...makes my heart stop every time she gets close to the edge 😬.I'm definitely sticking to the flat tarmac roads😆😆
Hey I wouldn't diss Noraly....only respect here....
Beautiful ride.
Thank you for confirming what I always thought. Expensive laminate 'Touring' gear isn't as good as mesh gear and waterproofs, when actually touring at the time we all go touring.
Well it depends when and where you’re touring of course!
Stay tuned for the next episode on Monday, because I go through the lessons I’ve learnt on this first trip away on the mighty wing.
Baron Von Munchhausen wasn't a Monty Python movie ,but did star Eric Idle.
@@TheMissendenFlyer
Pearl White. 😎
No, not really. Some wave, some don’t. However I think less riders wave these days….. don’t know why though!!
15:57 Did you just imply you're a queen, Andy? 😂
In some circumstances yes!
Anyone else notice how empty these countries are? Everywhere in the UK is absolutely full, the population density here is one of the highest in the world. We are living like caged hens but we don't even notice.
Plenty of room for more immigrants in UK, no worries.
Yes I noticed for sure!
There's nowt wrong with pineapple on a pizza! Nice to see pothole-free roads instead of our 3rd world ones. I'm with you on the E5 as well, though E0 would be better!
I’m sorry Vince, pineapple on pizza is just wrong ask any Italian!
@@TheMissendenFlyer That's heresay. Try it. It goes well.
Some things are just plain wrong.....
I ride that bike more than any of my others John! If you follow me on Instagram you’ll see I’m often to be found out and about on it…
Oi flyer, @ 18:09 you passed a biker at a junction and didnt wave, is it because you're Goldwing Royalty??? 🤣🤣🤣
My bad!
The gold wing looks like a comfortable bike for touring with a passenger. I'm still not sure it would be the right bike to do the Wild Atlantic Way two up though 🤔
Depends how nadgery it is - if it’s full of tight hairpins then probably not….
As an aside, Clervaux and Wilz we're sites of intense fighting during the Battle of the Bulge
Oh, I didn’t know that, every day is a school day! Thanks for watching.
