Outstanding video Dr. Phil! Gorgeous views from the drone. Very much appreciate your discussion of pH and the role Lime plays in optimizing the levels. Many of the reasons why Lime (Calcium Carbonate) is important in field chemistry is important in our own bodies. I often find Farmers can rattle off numbers like soil pH, Phosporous level, Nitrate level, moisture level, etc., ~ but they have no idea what their own Calcium level, pH, or other body levels for themselves. No surprise though. The Ag Industry does such a great job of providing nutritious food in sufficient quantities at the right time to prevent most people from the worries of malnutrition. Cheers to you and the all of the Famers out there! Thanks for the video!
Evening Doc. Nicely explained for the none ag folk👍. Soil testing is something I nagged for on the estate but never happened😩. I just keep throwing the muck on and that’s it’s lot.
Thanks for watching. Shame the estate doesn't think soil analysis is worthwhile. If they are claiming SFP they are probably in breach of cross compliance...
@@BusywithDrPhil unfortunately for the estate they can’t claim any government grants for there land as it’s equestrian. I can’t think of any other grassland industry that has such a black hole in it as horses! Unless your eating them or working them there’s no support
Great video very informative we got our soil tested through a pilot scheme through dard so we have purchased some G Lime for the fields with low pH great drone footage Josh has trained you well 👍
You were lucky with the weather there.......we've just had our first wet day in probably six weeks here in Devon. I tend to buy a few dumpy bags of granular lime and spread it myself with the fertiliser spreader, I think it works out a bit dearer in the bags but if you just want to do one field it's convenient
I think you are right Gerald.. I have done a comparison and the bulk is cheaper. But it could be argued its neutralising effect is slower. The weather has been so dry the lorries and big machines didn't present a soil problem. My wetter boggy field could do with lime and I'll probably do that in the same way you do
Hi Dr Phil very interesting vid I've always found the scientific side of farming a fascinating, would happily watch a vid of you chatting with one of your soil experts if you ever film one, anyway hope the lime works I guess only time will tell, and top notch music again Phil really enjoying your channel.
Great to get lime on to help pH to be fair 5.9is ok ours is about 5 we've lime one year and then seasand the next still running at about 5.2 all the other minerals proteins are all average so are yields
Yep..5.9 isn't critical... But it's on its way down...and some where at 5.5.. so it was worth a sprinkling. Is it grass you are growing at ph 5? Thanks very much for watching
Great video @ drone footage Dr. Phil. 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it

Good video phil really good drone footage
Thanks very much for watching, Drone credits must go to my son!
Excellent video content, you have a great demeanour and way of explaining what you do. Sound advice, "here endeth the lesson"
I appreciate that, thanks very much for the encouragement!
Great has a great setup. Love the drone footage
Got my son to thank for the drone flying..... Thanks very much for watching.
Very interesting 👍
Glad you think so and thanks very much for watching...

Cheers Paul... Got to be honest.. My lad is the Drone pilot! Sounds like a handy scheme from DARD
@@BusywithDrPhil it certainly is as it shows you exactly what condition the fields are in and what they need and don't need 👍

Great suggestion, it can add to the 'doc and professor' series!
