If vaccines are as safe as many say they are then why would the drug company require indemnity? And if they are as safe as they say then the company should carry the liability not the end user.

@@carolinereidartist Honestly, I don't know. Reliable data is hard to come by in this part of the world, despite there being no Communist -style (or the novel Pharma-Fauci-Gates brand of) censorship in force. The cost of a muddle-headed, draconian lockdown was clearly immense in terms of lives and livelihood lost, especially among the working class. The knock-on effects on health -- including mental health/depression, stress-induced immune dysfunction, postponed childhood vaccination programmes, mid-day meals in schools (or lack thereof) and malnutrition -- are hard to quantify. As a practising doctor who has treated -- successfully (not a single patient requiring hospitalisation) -- nearly two hundred Covid patients over the last two years, I think I can confidently say that there were hardly any deaths or life-threatening adverse reactions attributable to the two Covid vaccines used/licensed in this country (the attenuated whole-virus Covaxin and the adenovirus vector Covishield aka Astra Zeneca). I consider myself lucky to have been born outside the US or Canada or Australia or New Zealand. No regrets for being a Third World citizen :)

I started my career in Pharmaceutical marketing, conditioned to see Health from point of view - Sales, Markets, Lifetime Customers Valuation and Revenues.
Being a lawyer, I could never stomach Vaccine laws in US, which were blatantly unfair to populations.
Legal frameworks should be changed to keep interests of larger populations in mind. Populations cannot lobby for themselves. We elect governments to do that. When Govts start lobbying for corporation, they betray the populations that elected them.

The ridiculous number of vaccines that babies have to get would not exist if we never gave big pharma indemnity. Only a few pediatricians are wise enough to advise their patient's parents that the youngsters (adults too I'm sure) should not gt multiple vaccines at the same appointment. Too much heavy metal.poisoning via adjuvants and preservatives.

When a corporation has a history, a long history, of deceit, interpersonal relationships with government employees, and a hiring practice of those employees that did favorable things for them. The most and largest settlement in history. You call that a clue. Couple that with the Bhopal disaster and all US litigation dismissed, only a fool would want to revisit a similar scenario.

I suspect that the days of India looking to the West for thought leadership may be coming to an end. Well done India. Also well done Uttar Pradesh for getting remarkable results with ivm. This should have been shouted from the rooftops worldwide.
