    I'm really learning a lot from this and your other roebelenii video. We get the heat here in Redding, CA, but with much less humidity. I subscribed and am going to check out your Landscaping stuff.

    Thank you, what’s so unique about our bodies is it will get use to the stress we put it through….👊🏼 Everyone’s body is different so be careful what type of stress u all putting your bodies through, physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually!!! Great video and maybe some why, how, when for cleaning to keep the plant healthy… Educating us who no nothing about pig my palms or palms in general.

    Thank you for the video. The information was great. We have about eight of these palms to trim at our new home. We have some other kinds to research, but at least we know what this kind of palm is now. Thank you again!

    When do you recommend cutting the slightly yellow wing palm fronds as they’re dying off? Do you wait until they’re all brown and dead if you prune it to Berlin is it bad for the tree? Also, what do you recommend as fertilizer? I love your videos thank you very much. I have learned a lot. But I totally respect and praise you for being able to do that job without gloves! I had to have surgery to remove a broken thorn in my finger, now I have a special pair of pruning gloves that go up to my elbows!

      I would go ahead and cut the yellow fronds out. My thing is if it’s brown or yellow cut it out.
      I usually use the fertilizer that says for palms that you can get at Home Depot or Lowe’s
      I have been trimming these kinds of palms for a very long time and I forget how dangerous they can be.
      I hope this helps and thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to watch my videos.

    So what's the main reason to pull these pods out? Will it hurt the tree if you keep them in? Just curious because we have had our tree over a year now and it's a small tree but last year it did not produce the pods. This year the tree has.

    I want to ask you a question about my Roebelenii. I recently cut the Base out from my potted Roebelenii palm, after seeiing that, that can be done with trees etc. I did it because the roots were growing through the drainage holes, and by doing that I won't have to transplant again. I also live in a winter rainfall area, and also by doing so it won't get too much rain in the none growing season. It is Spring where I'm living. When we toppled the pot to drill a circle in the Base, some roots broke of. There was also a lot of moving and shaking while the thick base were drilled out, it had to be tapped out, which also add some disturbance to the palm. I also had to remove the drainage pebbles underneath which left some space,so that was also a disturbance to the root area. I did put a heap of compost on the soil where the pot would stand to fill up the space left in the bottom which developed from removing the pebbles, but I would never know if all the space was filled, but it felt like that when the pot was pulled back up again. I watered it very well afterwards. Now after a month I can see that the plant did suffer some shock from the interference. Some dry, and brown leaves appears now amongst the green ones in the new spear. I just want to ask, do you think the palm will recover again after this disturbance? I have so much regret now having done that. I am afraid now that I've killed my once beautiful palm. Hope you can give me some reassurance :)

      Thank you for watching! I’m in the Orlando Florida area and I do a heavy trim after our last cold front which is usually around Valentine’s Day cut off all the cold damage off and then it’s up to you some people like the fronds to be 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock or 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock if you compare it to the arms on a clock but but the last trim I due for the year is right before thanksgiving. And then I don’t touch them again until after our last cold front. Then I repeat the process. I hope this was helpful.

    Mr Moreno thank you for the vids brother...I trimmed all the dead leaves but on some I noticed black tar and alot of white bugs I bought some liquid copper but om not sure how to do it can you please let me know how to do it

    • @MorenoLandscapingMaintenance
      @MorenoLandscapingMaintenance  4 роки тому +2

      Okay so the white bugs are more likely scale and the black tar is believe it or not it’s the poop from the scale . So the poop can be washed off with a water hose but to help control the scale you would need to use a insecticide that’s for mites , scale , etc.. I usually use Bayer . The liquid copper I believe is for fungus. So if you start seeing yellow reddish spots that’s usually a fungus . I hope this was helpful.

      Dead on. Ya know your stuff bud! Good video. When do you like to trim a triple pygmy date palm cluster for the first time ever on that plant? Just planted some and they've never had the trunk trimmed or pineappled at the top. Only 3-4 ft trunks

    how do you remove years of built up old cuttings and hair down to the bark?

    • @MorenoLandscapingMaintenance
      @MorenoLandscapingMaintenance  6 років тому +5

      James Barrett thank you for watching. Usually the old cutting and the hairs should just come off . It will be A little messy but put on some gloves and something to protect your face . But with your hands just run up and down on the trunk to get everything that is loose . And the cutting that are not loose just get some hand pruners and cut them as far back as you can . . Let me find a Roebelenii Palm that needs to be cleaned up and I’ll make a video on it. Its easier for me to show you . Lol

    Why are you removing healthy leaves? This appears to me to be overtrimming. I know some people like that look, but I believe it can make the palm more vulnerable to disease.
