Great video! Also, Jerry Grover’s translation of the caractors document is intriguing.

Yes indeed. It makes sense, and Jerry has invited other scholars to review and evaluate his translation. He's been meticulous, he's considered the evolution and mixing of glyphs that we should expect, and his translation fits in with the text, and helps clarify the chronology.

I can't imagine that there has ever been a time, since the early days of coming out west, that the Kirtland Temple HAS NOT been on the Church's radar!

I think that when an apostle dedicates the Kirtland temple for the spirit to be there and when tour guides speak of the power and glory that came to the temple it will be a powerful spiritual experience not just a historical one.

Some of the Temples have in the top a Solemn Assembly Room which looks very similar to the Kirkland Temple. I have been in the SLC Temple’s as well as the Washington, D.C. Temple. The Solemn Assembly Room in the D.C. Tempe is very large. I was privileged to be in it for the dedication by Spencer W. Kimball.

6:40 Brigham was the "most senior" at the time, but seniority was defined not by ordination date but rather by age. Seniority based on ordination date (and restarting when a person was kicked out of the quorum and later readmitted) were teaks that came later and were motivated at least in part to keep Orson Pratt from becoming the president of the church.

I am always puzzled by the authority conversation - what authority do they want? The bishops' authority to ask people to give talks, say prayers, and accept positions of responsibility in local congregations? The Apostles' authority to endlessly give talks, and almost never see the inside of their own homes? I have never really seen church positions as having authority. Responsibility? Yes, plenty of that.

Yes, it’s certainly a good and important question in terms of helping everyone feel fulfilled. I’m hoping my newest episode will provide some possible answers
