@@katarzynamariamuszynska2811San Jose is expensive. Here’s why. It’s a city in the bay. The bay counts with Great summer weather because of cool ocean breeze. This makes any city in the bay ideal place to live. This means more ppl want to live there. More ppl means less land to use which then means demand. The Bay Area has the best weather in the world similar to Mediterranean coastal cities in Europe. Being in a great place gives way to new talent to emerge. Companies grow. So you can afford 1.5 mil dollar home? Normal day in San Jose does not look like what this clip shown. It's full of traffics every days, homeless encampment in most major parts of the city. Crimes are reported hundred times a day. Sure income are double other states, but housing is 4 or 5 time more expensive. Gas is $7 now, rain once or twice a year for 2 decades now. I just moved out.
It has some nice architecture but is one of the most boring cities and has lots of crime. There is very little to do there. I was driving at a light rail stop near Western Dental and a thug girl sat on the street, so I had to stop. Some thugs surrounded my car and started swearing at me. I revved the car engine to warn her to move away. One thug jumped and bodyslammed the hood of my car. The girl finally moved and I drove off. When I saw a police officer, I reported what happened. She said that I was fortunate to get away because the previous night, at the same place, the thugs dragged a man out of his car and beat him badly.

I’ll take the Downtown San Jose of 50 years ago. It was the heart of everything then. Everyone went down town to shop for clothes and shoes and whatever, No malls back then. I always went to the Penny’s store with a note from my mother with permission to use the charge card to buy my clothes when I was a young teenager. They even had a elevator operator!

I grew-up in downtown San Jose and went to college there. I have walked and driven up all of these streets many times. Anyone remember the comic book shop on San Fernando? That was a staple of my childhood. I was priced-out of California, and left last year.
Do they still have the radio station " K O M E " the KOME spot on your dial? At the capital drive in movie theater before the movie started, a lady would come on screen wearing a KOME shirt and say " KOME put a little KOME in your life ". This was in the 70's and 80's. California has the best weather in the US, I used to live there in San jose at willow Glen area, san jose is one of the most expensive cities in northern California. But it's really beautiful there I missed it 🤗👍
I visited many times from India in last 7 years & I love san jose & california state and it is a quiet silent city also & I wish to visit again & bike ride (Bicycle) is good to enjoy

My old stopping grounds, born and raised there and lived in JAPAN town for nearly 10 years and went to San Jose High school in the 70's and it's sad to see all the boarded up store fronts on 2nd and 1st street, I remember going to Gordons sporting goods that was on 2nd and Santa Clara, Woolworths left a very long time ago of which I used to like sitting at the counter, some of the other stores that are long gone, men and boys store on 1st street, Desimone's bicycle shop 2nd street, the comic shop which was across from Desimone's and on and on I can go on and on about DT SJ, 60's through the 80's was the best for me. One of the craziest moments there in DT SJ was when a bag of $$$ fell off of, I think off of an armored truck, I was riding my bicycle and when this happened there was people stopping their cars in the middle of the street, jumping out while trying to grab some of the cash that was flying around all over the place, ha! ha! As it turns out it was only one dollar bills, I think a car or 2 got banged up pretty good and I'm sure the cost of getting their cars fixed was a whole lot more that a fist full of dollar bills. I left San Jose in 95' and now I'm living in Holland where the weather is not so great.
I grew up there in the 50s. From 1954 to 1964 when I moved to L.A. . Nothing looks the same. The "San Thomas Expressway was just going in. "Valley Fair" was still THE PLACE to shop. Even my high school, San Jose High is no longer called that. My junior high, "Peter H. Burnett" had a name change. My elementary school, "Belden" which was on 5th street, is no longer there. It's like my past is being erased.
Just moved away and I already miss SJ 😢 I really miss going to MLK Library before finals & combing through the new books section near the kids’ section at the front. The Meetup scene is so active here, too, but everybody meets online now. Happy that everyone’s being responsible during COVID, but goddamn I miss meeting people in downtown in person.

I use to ride bus 22 down town SJ to go the "foundry" it was a school for troubled kids. Anyway, there were Mexican gangs hanging out at he bus stops. Back then they were called "Barrio's gangs" and it said it on the back of the coats. Is it still like that?
I worked in a plastic factory, it was small but, we just started making floppy disc. That was the first type of computer disc. in 1981-82. I moved from San jose, Eastside 1984 to Ohio and found a 1 bedroom apartment for $135 a month. I know I couldn't believe it either. And, it was nice and beautiful women everywhere. San Jose founded in 1777. Was a part of Mexico until 1849. Has low crime and clean streets. Good place to live. All houses cost $1 million.
Only became part of Mexico in 1821, after the Mexican War of Independence from Spain
Why San Jose is so expensive?
Really houses costs millions?
Who going to buy this?
Idk if you noticed but most cities in California are Spanish. California was all part of mexico
