Drakes interviews are appreciated for three main reasons : 1: they're rare af 2: he addresses all issues/accusations/assumptions 3. he speaks in genuine depth about the who, what, when, where, & why, of himself and of his projects.
This is the realist interview he's ever done. Speaking nothing but facts. Drake is so genuine and artistic. He study's the game like no other. That's why he's #1. When you're #1 you face unnecessary bullshit because you're always a target and I think he addressed the QM/Meek/XXX stuff really well. I hope now all this talk can now be put to bed and for people to realise how real this guy truly is. If you a real one and have been along this journey as well you'll know how this interview got you feeling some type of way. Legendary interview. Big up Semtex
Mate, I don't understand how people are surprised. Drake has been speaking the truth since & forever will. I believe he is slowly at his peak of becoming the GOAT and is very humble for everything he has achieved. He will only get bigger & better at this point. #MoreLife ✨
KirstyBae I'm a huuge drake fan, but I also love all of hip hop. And that title can't go to drake. He started writing good verses as of like 2015 (IYRTL). And he still doesn't have anything on like Nas level, or Kool G Rap, or Hov's best verses. Even J cole. He doesn't tackle too many real issues with the world, besides relationships. He still needs a litte growing up to do with the big ideas, instead of more bravado rap.
Like the other guy said, I respect your opinion and I'm a fan of Drake. But he's not the GOAT. He'll be remembered as one of the best, not lyrically but as a commercial guy that had one of the best runs. Lyrically, he can't rap circles around L, Biggie, Pac, Jay, not even Kendrick and Cole
i remember the "money to blow" era when it wasn't that cool to admit you liked drake, but i always knew he was the GOAT, i didn't care if the lames were hatin on me.
Drake is the Tom Brady of rnb not hiphop it's all rnb he drops two songs on a album to sound like hiphop until he drops a whole heat of bars (Album) then I will be convinced be honest now all the fans of drake dude is a rnb king how many kats bumped drake trying to get $omePu $$ y? and did you the fans ever hear a dude bumping drake in the hood with his boys in the car? drake R&B Not hiphop, rap ,he flows once in a while ,a record to me is 14 songs not one track :
The GOAT Nah bro Drake has done and still is doing shit that other artist can even fathom doing I'm sayin on a rap and or rap level Drake is diffent bro wayyyy different
This literally hurt my chest so know that we from the UK have been using the word rate since time and wouldn't be surprising if Toronto dons and Drake got it from us, man wears stone island please tell me how more UK he can be
Jayy Vee I feel you he doesn't do much but in this one he legit goes in depth and you can hear the emotion in his answers he legit said every thing on his mind and didn't duck anything
I like the fact that he pointed since day 1 he's always been a target. When he first started he was too soft and he wasn't from the streets. Then he was supposedly acting hard or street in his music when he clearly wasn't. Then he's a culture vulture riding waves. And when people finally found a little dirt on him (ghostwriting incident) they tried so hard to knock him down. I've always said the same thing he's said, you can't tarnish his whole career over these few songs. This the same guy who gave you the am/pm series, the hard verses like "stay scheming", the most honest real shit like "look what you've done". So Far Gone, Thank Me Later, Take Care, NWTS, all had a unique sound that paved a way for artists today. He's a more influential artist than you think.
Isaiah Watson 808s opened up an entire new space for hip hop artist to dive in and Drake took a part of that space and created something never seen before with that ... pretty much even though he does hop on waves ... look at all the rappers using melodies and really tryna sing and get emotional almost
Shaun Ashley I'm from Toronto, and tbh...i've seen vids of americans bumping / reviewing Grime, but the general public will take a looooong time to accept it...Even what JoeyBada$$ says goes over a lot of ppls heads (even me sometimes), the Grime scene is much richer cuz almost EVERY rapper is doing that.. So it'll be a while b4 they understand it.
Drake is just an entertainer/artist. It doesn't matter if he uses ghostwriters for his songs as long as he dropping them hits. However, When u have ghostwriters helping you with your raps or even have reference tracks, that makes him disqualified from being the top 5 MC. He is just an artist but an MC he will never be.
I first became a Drake fan from when I heard his singing/slow/melody type stuff, but I do really like his raps too. Songs like "Houstalantavegas", "Unthinkable (Remix)", "A Night Off", "Shut It Down", "Miss Me", his "What's My Name" ft., "Find Your Love", "Paris Morton Music", "I Get Lonely", his "Say Something" ft. made me like his stuff. That's why I love his "Take Care" album so much, a lot of slow melodies on there. But his raps are really good too, don't get it twisted, "I'm On One" is one of my favs where he featured. What I like about him is that over-time he evolved, that's what makes an artiste an artiste, you have to try new sounds and styles. I love Views and the Caribbean influence on it cause I'm from there, so I can easily understand what he's saying and what he used in certain songs. Canada is highly influenced by Caribbean music so it makes sense he went with that. Drake 's more than a "rapper" than he started off as, and that's the definition of an all-rounded Artiste. The guy can do any genre at this point 😂 Damn that's a ass long paragraph 😂 More. 🌺🙏 coming soon...
drake is deff a savage for this 1....and finally clears the air and makes sense amd answered of The fuckery and unanswered questions that surrounded the beef ....#ovo617
tyrone you fuckin naive believing everything you see/ hear at most he co produced and wrote HALF and if he didn't do that the weekend would not have relevant to this day
The GOAT why you commenting on all comments negatively about drake. lmao hating on drake now will not bring meek back yall meek stans are delusional af yall just making drake more relevant and he will break more records soon.
Hate Drake as much as you want. But take note that the only way to make it is hard work and consistency! Even for those who look already blessed by life.
Pearsss Real Rap Didn't you watch the interview? Drake had help with CHUROS FLOW that doesn't mean he dont write his songs lmfao yall niggas acting like you in the studio with Drake 24/7 and know what's going on there. Hold this heavy L
Curtis Simmons u don't know bout Canada bout "them boys racist over there" depends on where u r and its really rare to be publicly racist cuz youll be looked down on
Great interview. Drake seems like a genuinely good person and he IS a talented writer. I've always known that, he wrote Alicia Keys' I'm Ready which I love
Drake he should've asked him about the time he stoled a line from Rappin 4 tay on the song who do you love with YG That would've been a better question
Big up to Drake for shining a light on the UK, no one has ever repped us until he started showing love. It means a lot 🙏🏻 Bless Up. Btw make sure to follow the BREADCRUMBS when Phase One drops.
People still gone say he got ghost writers when he clearly said they COLLABORATED don't be tone deaf to what u dont won't to hear be fair ! He broke everything down from the reference tracks to everything else
I never doubted his pen game at all I'm no dick rider either but that's what they'll call us! Idk how they go about choosing who to believe when somebody say something ! And the fact that he said why he didn't address right away is because he didn't feel the need to when people know the truth
Discredit him how hell he said they collaborated ion hear no discrediting in that QM said the same shit in other words ! They worked on 5 tracks that's it ain't nothing to it
Damion Pacheco just because you write for somebody dosent negate that fact that u don't have writers like he says music is a collaborative process and I'm sure you heard the reference tracks by now but he dosent care
Damion Pacheco its really interesting though. When i heard that line om randsom i was like damn he wrote on detox fast but all along it was actually before the ym situation
zeakeotharudeboy yep, I been saying for years they should make that book part of the criteria for literature or psychology for every high schooler in America. I saw the world different after I read that book rns!
Ranikia888 Drakes making calculated chess moves in a industry where a lot of peoples are moving off of emotions...and he recognizes that..I respect his hustle...and to your comment I agree. That book really does have a tremendous amount of power if the knowledge is applied..makes you look at everything a bit differently in life
I think he wasn't lying when he said Meek Mill started the whole thing because he was in his feelings over something about Nicki, because in back to back he said "and this ain't what she meant when she told you to open more"
I found that the people who dislike drake are the most passionate people on earth lol and ironically they be so emotional about they opinions and don't care about reality just the tiny aspects that prove they points. Drake haters are emotional.
I've always been a fan of Drake's music but never knew he was such a thinker. Props to him for all of his success and the grinding he has done with such calculated thoughtfulness. ❤
Sometimes you have to put yourself in someone else's position. Meek prolly paid Drake about 300k-350k just for a verse. He was scammed cause it wasn't Drakes actual verse. I'd be mad too. Respect for Drake for not ducking questions and facing them 💯💯
King Anthony does it matter you got the verse and it helped boast the Album RICO was getting mad play then Meek did what he did and people stopped playing it that could of been 1 of the biggest songs of the year & Meek screwed his self
King Anthony There is absolutely no way meek paid 350k for a verse from Drake. They were good friends, a lot of times in the industry friends don't even charge friends.. if there was a charge, 350k? Are you nuts. Meek didn't get scammed, at the end of the day he got a Drake verse and Rico was the biggest hit on his album, how did he get scammed? if anyone got scammed it was Drake. Drake put him on his first tour, hopped on Amen with him on his first album and again that was his biggest hit on the album and most importantly Drake was wearing free meek shirts all the damn time when meek was in jail.. which other artist was supporting meek like that? what did meek do when he got out? stabbed Drake in his back and tried to destroy his career. who really got scammed?
Ronnie Alston It does matter bro cause it's disrespectful. He basically told him "your not worthy of a verse from me" which is disrespectful to someone that is your friend. Again put yourself in that situation... You get the verse, put it on your album, then eventually hear the real verse and find out *wow this isn't even his verse. In the heat of the moment that's shocking and fucked up to find out lol
LegendInThaMakin Kendrick charges 350k for a verse. I'm pretty sure Drake charges more than that. So for Meek("friends" at the time) Drake probably charged 300-350k. Btw you said twice that Rico was the biggest hit on the album when it's not. Not even close either. All eyes on you was the biggest hit on the album lol What do you mean he put him on his 1st tour? Just cause someone says something doesn't always mean it's true. That's Meeks album, why wouldn't he have a tour??? Btw amen is meeks track and it was honestly a good track with or without Drake. Not taking anything away from Drake tho cause I'm a fan of both.
I wish he would have asked Drake about how Meek heard Summer 16 because his Diss right after that track was responding to things in that song which was mad spooky

IJ HDZ tru but drake admits the weekend gave him half the album from his own but the other half is all him
People try and point at the negative in Drake's career and hate to look at the fact that he changed the sound of a generation 💁🏾♂️💯
Isaiah Watson more like 808s and heartbreak did but Drake still has heavy influence
alfatrinininja There is no point in bringing up the truth. Drake stans believe what they want.

Great interview. Drake seems like a genuinely good person and he IS a talented writer. I've always known that, he wrote Alicia Keys' I'm Ready which I love
Susan Munywoki Well said.
He should have asked him about The Weeknd and their issues and how they linked back up.
Drake he should've asked him about the time he stoled a line from Rappin 4 tay on the song who do you love with YG
That would've been a better question
The GOAT how, drake paid him for using the lines, it woulda been useless info we already knew
Drake nope he got caught and had to pay him know the difference
The GOAT exactly so what would be the point of that question being asked. That makes no sense.
I'm still wondering why Meek dropped a better diss towards Kendrick but waited so long to diss Drake
Matthew F war pain was dope as fuck though
Matthew F he dissed Kendrick? when
PC PRINCIPAL #PC_BRO #PUSSY_CRUSHERS #FUCK_LESLIE Meek Mill - Ooh Kill Em
Matthew F i think he was probation and couldn't drop no music
Isaac Bellefleur that was before his beef with Drake, he said he didn't drop a diss towards Drake right away because he was on tour with Nicki lol

Tim's Workshop Shout out from California
People still gone say he got ghost writers when he clearly said they COLLABORATED don't be tone deaf to what u dont won't to hear be fair ! He broke everything down from the reference tracks to everything else
jada simmons exactly
I never doubted his pen game at all I'm no dick rider either but that's what they'll call us! Idk how they go about choosing who to believe when somebody say something ! And the fact that he said why he didn't address right away is because he didn't feel the need to when people know the truth
Facts
So y'all really gonna act like he didn't answer like a politician and discredit QM?
Discredit him how hell he said they collaborated ion hear no discrediting in that QM said the same shit in other words ! They worked on 5 tracks that's it ain't nothing to it
Drake is a genius PERIOD.
drake wrote for dre so how does he have ghost writers
Damion Pacheco he tried, and never got signed
Damion Pacheco and kanye and alecia keys
Damion Pacheco just because you write for somebody dosent negate that fact that u don't have writers like he says music is a collaborative process and I'm sure you heard the reference tracks by now but he dosent care
Damion Pacheco its really interesting though. When i heard that line om randsom i was like damn he wrote on detox fast but all along it was actually before the ym situation
Mohamin cfc jaime fox
I watched this shit live on akademik's twitch stream
Niggachu Was it lit in the chat?

48 laws of power...I see you drake
You see that shit 😂😂💯
zeakeotharudeboy yep, I been saying for years they should make that book part of the criteria for literature or psychology for every high schooler in America. I saw the world different after I read that book rns!
BPHIFuNKCymbals yeah bro
Ranikia888 Drakes making calculated chess moves in a industry where a lot of peoples are moving off of emotions...and he recognizes that..I respect his hustle...and to your comment I agree. That book really does have a tremendous amount of power if the knowledge is applied..makes you look at everything a bit differently in life
zeakeotharudeboy skipped some chapters but underlined all laws and read it how was 50 laws with 50 cent?
I think haters gone still hate regardless but yeah drake cleared everything here
Shoutout to Akademiks 😂😂
GREAT ASS FORWARD ASS INTERVIEW BRO. Great interviewer questions too
HandsomeHenry trash rapper tho
The GOAT that's your opinion
I think he wasn't lying when he said Meek Mill started the whole thing because he was in his feelings over something about Nicki, because in back to back he said "and this ain't what she meant when she told you to open more"
a 30 sec ad would pop up as soon as he says meek mill
instagram/WAKEANDBAKE419 nigga facts i deadass was about to throw my got damn phone
Drake is more gangster than these "though" rappers. He so stategic and ruthless. Bet nobody going to attack him like that again
Though rappers
Aged like wine
very very dope interview damnn
I found that the people who dislike drake are the most passionate people on earth lol and ironically they be so emotional about they opinions and don't care about reality just the tiny aspects that prove they points. Drake haters are emotional.
Facts
Jemail Jones exactly everyone just believing what they hear😴
Major respect to Drake. He's moved in his own way through all the controversy.
I've always been a fan of Drake's music but never knew he was such a thinker. Props to him for all of his success and the grinding he has done with such calculated thoughtfulness. ❤
16:30 talks about why he took kanye off pop style
18:30 talks about kanye's rant
28:50 he talks about quentin miller
27:40
The Grammys told Drake to blame his absence on Donald Trump, yo that's crazy
Kundai Gotore i said the same sht broo...im beginning to believe what they say Bout the Government and Rap Music...Like The Jews Run Hollywood
Curtis Simmons this is old where yall been at lol, at least yall know now...
Kundai Gotore Not really. They're that desperate to stir up racial division.
All eyes on you was the biggest hit on the album lol
What do you mean he put him on his 1st tour? Just cause someone says something doesn't always mean it's true. That's Meeks album, why wouldn't he have a tour??? Btw amen is meeks track and it was honestly a good track with or without Drake. Not taking anything away from Drake tho cause I'm a fan of both.
King Anthony he was talking about the song "Amen" on his other album
"i just think the best rappers are from the uk" - Drizzy Hendrix
I wish he would have asked Drake about how Meek heard Summer 16 because his Diss right after that track was responding to things in that song which was mad spooky
Drake should have won more than 2 Grammys he's got a huge point
the best radio host ever...
