Literally one of the most beautiful tennis match I have watched in like 5 years. The amount of action in this game is incredible. Nadal is just an absolute prefect example of a good athlete.
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say. I’’d personally rather watch paint dry than watch Medvedev. He really kills the whole game for me.
Wow, wow, wow, and wow! Its hard to believe, its hard to understand what happened this night in Melbourne! I watched full game and to be honest after Rafa lost second set, i didnt believe to his comeback, but he broke all my doubts and made this miracle and won his 21 GS, its unforgetable moment, in the end i am cried together with him. I am proud i watching and support Rafa all his career from the beginning when he won his 1st RG 2005 and to this legendary 21st victory.

I just left after 2 sets down. Could not bear to see him loose without a fight. His first serve just deserted him and no free points for him. He was literally fighting for every point on his serve in that first 2 sets. But then Nadal , Nadal....I learnt again from this guy today. As long as there is hope no matter how tiny, you have to held on to your believe that you can turn it around. He just simply wanted this more than Danni. He knew this was probably his best and last chance to win his second AO. Now I will re-watch the entire 5hrs in peace! Congrats Nadal.

Wimbledon 2008 is one of the most aesthetically pleasing sporting events I’ve ever watched. This match is nowhere near that. It couldn’t be when Medvedev is involved. Incredible effort by Nadal but this was not a beautiful match by any stretch of the imagination, in my eyes.

After the 2nd set, I was like okay respect to Medvedev, he will win the AO 2022, I was not paying so much attention in the third set, as I had some chores to do at home. After a while I was looking and some of those points of Medvedev made it more clear he will win. Then something astonishing happened I came back to watch further more of the match and Rafa made the break to 5:4 in the third set. And I was like what is happening here. And in the fourth set the game switched, I saw more and more a Rafa who was more and more willing to do the extra mile. And he did it, he did it, 21 GS...I am just thrilled. YEAH
I think Medvedev had to suffer a lot to win the second set, while Rafa is a slow starter who gets stronger and stronger.
Epic match and still Medve didn't let the third set go easily.

In 2009 first Nadal AO my son was 7 years old, 13 years have passed for the 2nd AO now he drives a car and is finishing university, it was worth the wait.

I’m one of the few that wanted Medvedev to win but after 5 hours of amazing tennis I didn’t mind who won, and it was Rafa, what a champion! this match showed everything he is. Resilient, passionate, a fighter and a warrior or the sport. Congrats to him for his 21st major title and also well played to Medvedev for fighting until the last point. He did nothing wrong, Nadal was just too good. The match was on my birthday too so it felt like I was just blessed by the tennis gods or something 😂

Soy la mayor fan de Nadal... pero ante el ruso, 10 años menor y a un nivel excelente, viniendo de una lesión hace 5 meses, sin ritmo, con + en covid hace 1 mes y con la lesión crónica... al ver 2 sets abajo creía que era imposible remontar. Rafa is simply Rafa. I believe that this one was the best win ever in a GS in his career. Second place Wimbledon 2008, third place US Open 2013.

Totally bewildered how we pulled it off, when he lost the 2nd set and then being love 40 down I was like game over. Somehow he stayed in and made the shots instead of being reserved and putting the ball back in. He went for it and that’s why I love him, totally entertaining and the difference between winning the slam and runners up is that, Nadal went for the shots regardless of what the point was.

This match mirrors so many other matches like Feds 2017 AO victory where they were both 35 and coming back from injury and no one had high expectations for them but they grinded it out. It also mirrors the 2021 RG Final where Stef/Meddy where playing Phenomenal tennis for two sets but Novak/Nadal just elevated the longer the match went on.
