"A barrel roll is an aerial maneuver in which an airplane makes a complete rotation on both its longitudinal axis and its lateral axis, causing it to follow a helical path, approximately maintaining its original direction. It is sometimes described as a combination of a loop and a roll." what you discribed was an Aileron roll
That's an aileron roll, not a barrel roll. Barrel rolls are for getting out of your opponent's way and causing them to overshoot. Aileron rolls are almost useless.
Kaymazo Well, if you're very lucky and less than 400m from an attacking aircraft with wing-mounted guns, rolling 90 degrees might make the shells pass under/over you. Any further and the shells converge directly on you.
***** Thanks, I always love gathering info for my videos, I a made a small info video online for a series involving war thunder. Check it out on youtube, it's called we are starting with me sitting in a chair. spread the world
3:03 , there is a similar maneuver used in airshows (and i use in war thunder) is the banana, same as the wingover except you stall the plane entirely (hitting 0 mp/h) and just falling. The enemy will stall, there is a chance you will recover fast enough to get on their tail
Thr displacement roll is the most used maneuver in a spitfire. Also I use them to let the enemy overshoot anf get behind him and shooting to get the kill.
Thats not a barrel roll, thats an aileron roll. An aileron roll makes the tip of your wings make a double helix, while a barrel roll makes your planes Center of mass make a helix. Thats also not a displacement roll, its a barrel roll. A displacement roll is where you begin a high yoyo (a high yoyo is where you cant turn tighter than the enemy, so you add some altitude to your turn so you can slow down to remain behind the enemy and allow you to be in a position to retake your trailing position) with an aileron roll while on the initial climb.
Strange, I do pretty much all of these with the exception of the hammerhead without even realizing it... another one I recomend the the stall turn, but it is pretty dangerous, they way I like to do it is pull up into a 90 degree climb until I stall out and fall backwards down my flight path
That's right! No wait... It's wrong, left! ;) For all of of you whom may be interested: Port is red like port wine and it's *not right* to drink and fly (nor drink and cruise if you're on a ship).
The Scissors is probably the one meneuver that is probably useless simply because of the fact that the FREAKING RAMMERS DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THEIR LACK OF ABILITY TO AIM. THEY'LL JUST CRASH INTO YOU LIKE NOOBS.
Excellent tutorial -very clear and well illustrated. BUT.... What you call a Barrel Roll is actually an Aileron Roll What you call a Displacement Roll -that's a Barrel Roll Personally, I blame Star Fox for this mixup... :)
...and What you call a Hammerhead is actually a Stall Turn A Hammerhead starts the same, but instead of feeding in rudder at the top, you hold the hold the vertical position until the plane ceases to fly. It will then fall backwards, the nose flicking from straight up to straight down. High wing aircraft usually Hammerhead forwards (ie the nose pitches down). Low wing aircraft usually Hammerhead backwards.
Welcome. I'm a bomber pilot and I would be very grateful for the section dedicated to the bombers. I think bombers are very marginalized in all tutorials, this is sad. Please consecrate us more attention :)
they learned their maneuvers from Entak for christs sake, hell even Entak knows more. i recommend you go watch Ramjb's guide, it really is helpful and will make you into a pro fighter pilot, this video is very lacking, it simply shows the maneuver and not how or when to use it in combat. also, as stated by others, some of them are incorrect like the immelman, they showed basically a vertical split S or a half loop, the yo-yo example showed was more of a last resort death or life example(he saved some E but also burned a lot) a yo-yo is best used when you need to reset your attack and you have more E(but there are many ways to use it) the barrel roll was an aileron roll, and who doesn't know what a dive, climb or a loop is?(if your guna mention diving and climbing show what planes to use em in and how) and the Chandelle example was bad, if you want to trade E for alt(or vice versa) and change direction then do a split S, not a chandelle, this is something you use rarely and in accompaniment with other maneuvers and should be thoroughly explained if shown.
but i have 1 complaint that "barrel roll "was really an aileron roll. a barrel roll is witch a aircraft uses the rudder to to swing to the right or left wile using its ailerons to roll.looks if how you would write a cursive s.
If you are behind him make sure that you won't pass him - throttle down and/or use flaps or use something like a jojo. It really depends on the planes and the energy situation.
That wasn't indepth enough for me. You said that you would explain when to use these maneuvers, but that's what is missing here, and I don't think a newbie would be able to improve off that video. The only maneuver that was well demonstrated was the scissors, but I honestly think this video could be done much better.
That Yo-yo technique will be handy in the future when somebody in front of me is trying to out-turn me :) Thanks for the info. You forgot the vertical rollingscissors for jet combat
It looks good on the paper , but in arcade mode its almost impossible to come out alive if you have someone on your 6 , as he just has to follow what ever you do with his mouse
is there a preferred joystick brand or model that works best for war thunder? right now i am using the mouse control for direction , does the joystick turn tighter than the mouse does? thank you if you can give me a answer
me: okay its himmelman time.... shooted... okay then i do a split s!...shooted.... okay now i do a scissors! .....shooted.... okay i eject now! ..... work well
"A barrel roll is an aerial maneuver in which an airplane makes a complete rotation on both its longitudinal axis and its lateral axis, causing it to follow a helical path, approximately maintaining its original direction. It is sometimes described as a combination of a loop and a roll."
what you discribed was an Aileron roll
It's easy to remember as your basically flying the shape of a barrel.
It's somehow ironic that they describe just this maneuver wrong ^^
Peppy: Do an Aileron roll!... No...It just doesn't work as simple as a Barrel Roll does :P
Is just a theory, A GAME EHEORY
nice one
I do really like this voice over!
I don't think you do
NumberOne Bacon its better than the old one ;)
The voice actor is very good!
Do a Barrel Roll
Ellu Sherman!
A moment of silence for the countless war thunder players who died learning these maneuvers purely from experience.
xertris Sadly, Im One Of Them
Started in 2013 when I was 10 years old...its been a long and rough journey
The people who watched history channel's "Dogfights" have the high ground
I, god people who learned like that are just most of the time better pilots XD
I see you learned the Barrel Roll from the Peppy Hare school of aerial maneuvers...
That's an aileron roll, not a barrel roll. Barrel rolls are for getting out of your opponent's way and causing them to overshoot. Aileron rolls are almost useless.
almost?^^
Kaymazo neat way to see below you
I was going to say that, but I did not know how to spell "aileron" :P
Kaymazo Well, if you're very lucky and less than 400m from an attacking aircraft with wing-mounted guns, rolling 90 degrees might make the shells pass under/over you. Any further and the shells converge directly on you.
Jonathan Hughes Ok thats true^^
What you called a "Barrel roll" was an aileron roll.
A barrel roll is what you called a "displacement roll"
I'm a pilot with an aerobatics rating
Just got to the next bit. That "wingover" is actually a stall turn. A wingover is something different
I got here just to say that, only to see there was someone who already did it :)
***** I thought that was called a immelman turn, (not a immelman when you do a half loop than half roll).
***** Thanks, I always love gathering info for my videos, I a made a small info video online for a series involving war thunder. Check it out on youtube, it's called we are starting with me sitting in a chair. spread the world
I do the Hangover roll, when the enemy is behind you, drink beer and forget the outcome, then respawn. (works with Luftwaffe only)
BUT NOT BEFORE 4 O CLOCK!!!
i have already been doing most of these instinctively.
Бои на виражах : Пилотажные фигуры.
PLease add more videos
I love this guy's voice.

Peppy's fovourite video on UA-cam next to Barrel Roll Song for 10 hours.
Really sad war thunder, don't even know what a barrel roll actually is
i miss the time when we could go kamikaze toward ground target and get rewarded, those were simpler times
Thr displacement roll is the most used maneuver in a spitfire. Also I use them to let the enemy overshoot anf get behind him and shooting to get the kill.
The stall maneuvers are good, if your plane has a more speed, better engine, and a better climb rate
the "wingover" actually works. i love to use it in my p-63, and it works if u got an eager pilot on ur tail
Great help! Thanks
Much better explained than in encyclopedia.
well time to try them all
man i used allot of these technique but i never new that they were actually named and known to the community.such as the scissors and yoyo
Hmmm and to think I used those maneuvers in-game without even knowing their names, man do I feel like an ace pilot already.
thanks guys, keep up the good work.
i have taken out considerable amount of enemies with that hammerhead
these videos are helpful thank you ezada.
Just realized I was doing the yo-yo all the time without even knowing about the maneuver. :P
and i realized ive been doing the scissors instinctively!
How do you turn right!? I just keep flying straight.. please do a tutorial on that!
I tried the Phly's video, but it says it's advanced! I can't do advanced..
Khaled Hossam Do you have mouse aim on? if you have it on it should be easy
Issac1709HD yep just making fun of the joke comment. Thanks for taking care.
point ur mouse in that direction
Instructor hates my maneuvers!

It's funny how the video has "Barrel roll" in its title yet the guy in the video doesn't even actually know what it is

Me too
well made! surely helpful
Shouldn't the green light in the 3D illustration be green for starboard?
That's right! No wait... It's wrong, left! ;)
For all of of you whom may be interested: Port is red like port wine and it's *not right* to drink and fly (nor drink and cruise if you're on a ship).
I like this. Please make more!
nice video with usefull maneuvers
There's nothing like getting into a vertical scissors with an enemy in SB because you both have IR tracking hats :P
I want this in the testing grounds to train this maneuvers!
And displacement roll is a true barrel roll
You guys should do the Mustang 1A in Barrel Roll, in realistic that is.
Love this
“Let’s try spinning, That’s a good trick!”
gracias por las lecciones,,,y poner a Beethoven.estuvo genial... Gracias!!!
VERY useful !
Realistic battles
What if they katana-wing?
Kuraiko Fumei Glorious Nippon steel! Cut thorough wing like butter!
90% of my aerial fights in WT end up in the scissor scenario.

a ingame tutorial will be very awesome :=)

What is the exact difference between a wingover and a hammerhead?
hammerhead is done at a steeper angle
Jimpiedepimpie And you decrease the throttle, which you don't do on a wingover.
thanks :)
So, in some way of description, in a hammerhead, you stall pointing straightup and you come down pointing straight down?
PancakePredator S'pose so
but i have 1 complaint that "barrel roll "was really an aileron roll. a barrel roll is witch a aircraft uses the rudder to to swing to the right or left wile using its ailerons to roll.looks if how you would write a cursive s.
can you please make that tutorial for every zero pilot do in their battles because i still a little bit confused
But you just did an aileron roll
Nice work :)
I remember a day in WT where I did grate menuvers all the time but now ;( I lost that abilyti (some how)
thx dimitr.
Very good information ! Stay tuned for other videos.. ! :)
Or will video about bombers and ground vehicles?
Or just the fighter planes?
:P
Good video
What they call the Immelmann was aerobatic not the dog fighting version which they called the hammerhead
can we get more of these vids?
Peppy”DO A BARREL ROLL!”
Cool vid especially for noobs =) WT needs more of that!
I m not sure when is the best situation to use Immelmann
When stalin is behind you.
That was an aileron roll.
That was a aileron roll for barrel the other roll was a true barrel roll
In case "The Scissors" 4:36 how to escape and shot down him ?
If you are behind him make sure that you won't pass him - throttle down and/or use flaps or use something like a jojo. It really depends on the planes and the energy situation.
Clear. it's very difficult to implement with impulsive pilots. Thanks bro anyway :)
helpful advice. Thanks :)
ITS A FUCKING AILERON ROLL, YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS! a barrel roll is something completely different.
When does naval warfare come out I really want it please hurry thanks really great game...
That wasn't indepth enough for me. You said that you would explain when to use these maneuvers, but that's what is missing here, and I don't think a newbie would be able to improve off that video. The only maneuver that was well demonstrated was the scissors, but I honestly think this video could be done much better.
use the fw-190
Very good tutorial.
Every maneuvers well explained.
Good Job!!!
hmm ive never tested this but lose enough speed by climbing while scissoring?
Cool
I thought you should only do a barrel roll when your wing-rabbit tells you to.
*That so-called "barrel roll" is an aileron roll and the "displacement roll" is a barrel roll!*
How come almost *nobody* knows this?
iTS NOT A BARREL ROLL iTS An AiLeron ROLL !!! 😡
hey your "barrel roll" is an aileron roll
a barrel roll is a roll inside a barrel like shape.
Brett Maney so your displacement roll
Brett Maney not quite. they actually did a displacement roll, called a canopy roll. They did not do any barrel rolls at all.
What are the defalt keys for only using the elevator?
PgDN
When I started playing last year, it was LShift/LCtrl. I still use it today.
page down and up up to go down down to go up
2:24 Wrong its a aileron roll.
Why is this series discontinued? D:
That Yo-yo technique will be handy in the future when somebody in front of me is trying to out-turn me :) Thanks for the info. You forgot the vertical rollingscissors for jet combat
dang, all this time I use immelman and split all the time without knowing it
It looks good on the paper , but in arcade mode its almost impossible to come out alive if you have someone on your 6 , as he just has to follow what ever you do with his mouse
+Nenonism well...arcade....
2:15 I call bullshit. The mustang can't even twitch without its wings shattering horribly into millions of pieces.
I was thinking the same thing...
just fly at speed 1
You can't fly at "speed 1"
2:33
ITS NOT BARREL ROLL ITS CALLED AN AILERON ROLL!
Nice! :)
DO A BARREL ROLL
is there a preferred joystick brand or model that works best for war thunder? right now i am using the mouse control for direction , does the joystick turn tighter than the mouse does? thank you if you can give me a answer
So. . . How about those Russian flight models?
me: okay its himmelman time.... shooted... okay then i do a split s!...shooted.... okay now i do a scissors! .....shooted.... okay i eject now! ..... work well
какой то голос у Езидыча немного другой стал)
Он щас этим занимается,видео поэтому не часто выходят
2:26 isnt that an aileron roll
yes it is
they mislabeled the barrel roll as an aileron roll wtf!! they have it named right in game!!!
The only thing i can't do is the hammerhead.
your barrel roll is an aileron roll 360 and the Displancement roll is a barrel roll..
Did they just call the aileron roll a barrel roll?
dammit Gaijin. you made a game based around aerial combat but you still can't tell the difference between a barrel roll and an aileron roll.....*sigh*
Is it just me, or is What they call a "Barrel Roll" acctually an Aileron Roll, and what they call a "Displacement" Roll a Barrel Roll......
I just press L or R twice to do a barrel roll
...anyone notice the barrel roll mistake?
