I have no intentions of purchasing a Kronos and I don't even understand Japanese, but I clicked on this because I knew it would be a fantastic demo. Never disappoint! Well done :)
if you ever ever ever get to buy a keyboard or get one as a gift, KROME or KRONOS is the one. The One.
You don´t need to understand Japanese, there´s subtitles, you just need to activate.

This guy from Yamaha originally, is actually a genius...He reharmonizes all the popular songs.. Lol.. also one of the best keyboard reviewer I've ever seen... Got me sold on the Kronos.
He does that for copyright reasons I believe,instead of playing original song.
I remember I saw this few years ago, I had a Kurzweil but was not very happy with the sounds and how difficult to program. So whe I heard this and few other demo's, now about 3 years back, I sold the Kurzwiel and bought the Kronos 2. AND I'M STILL LEARNING HOW TO USE THIS POWERHOUSE, 3 years later, and I'm blown away what a monster synth this is. 2018 and the Kronos is still king, and will be for many years to come, what a synth, wow!
Beautiful demo, what's great about these is that he doesn't spend most of the time jabbering he lets the instrument do the talking. We get to hear the thing and all of what it can do. Tooo many talk you through it without much actual letting us hear the thing. It's a demo not a tutorial so let's hear what it can do.

Watching this in near Mid 2023 and I'm blown away! This Keyboard still sounds current after 8 Years!
Ujiie is awesome anyway, but that damn Korg is a beast - Even by today's standards.
I've been waiting for this review since New Kronos' launch. I love the way he avoids copyright issues.

Everyone seems fascinated about the new series of Yamaha in 2018... but Korg is always a step ahead.
More expensive? Yes, but in the right direction of any synth evolution.
You don't have to agree with me, everybody has its preferences, but this 4 years earlier synth overpasses new 2018 Yamaha series by far.

But loads of people do covers and get away with it. Its not copyright when you play it yourself.
Actually it is. places who have cover bands are supposed to royalty pay a fee to ascap/ bmi but they usually dont and they never get checked by them.
emilshere So many people on here are doing covers and getting away with it then. Make your own music or play something slightly different can't get done then.
Fuck copyright. I wanted to hear those songs in their original grandeur but nevertheless did enjoy those improvs.Nice Job Mr Ujie Katsunori.

Korg kronos has lots of technical possibilities.
Deep programming for live playing, sampling, Set List Mode, Different samplings for each key etc... endless possibilities kronos has.
On acoustic sounds(brass, guitar etc..) are NOT good.
It is still triton range acoustic sound.
Piano and rhodes sounds are good but it is not close to Nord.
On synth sounds, korg more popular than yamaha motif series.
But each of yamaha motif series are very successful, especially on acoustic sounds.
If you are playing on live stage , korg is the best on second floor keyboard, superfast to use (setlist mode).
First floor keyboard as stage should be Nord Stage 2 Ex I think. It has all sounds you need for a stage and more...
If you are looking for extra and more powerful synth sounds, you should get a access virus ti series (maybe adding a nord lead 4 on set up will get your sound special)
If you need brass, guitar, `you should get Yamaha motif serie keyboard.

All the pros do that in a broadcast situation. Play it enough to recognize but not enough to pay for it. I was actually expecting someone to post Ujjie doesn't play 'em right.

alphasxsignal u think the kronos is really good? I can't tell with how They play cuz I got a juno ds and might get something better but it feels like they play well or the power is that unnecessary
Yes its good and there are third party sounds coming out all the time to make it even better and better all the time.

I would like to hear actual synths, flutes & ethnic instruments from the kronos. Can't find a video anywhere on these. I use EastWest a lot for ethnic sounds. The instrument replication & quality are dam near truly authentic & almost mind blowing. If I'm going to pay this much for a workstation it better blow my mind! All these he's playing are ok but not mind blowing.

Kronos questions
I just got the KRONOS but i trying to get into the pattern sequencer mode.. meaning i want to make different pattern sections which makes up the full song which allow me to control each section of my progression... can you show that? Thanks
On the motif it's very easy to make pattern sections...you have pattern A TO H which you can put the intro on A, Verse on B, Chorus on C, Bridge on D...etc... It's very hard to figure that out on the kronos...let me know.thanks

GreenHoleSun yes because copy right is always on the lookout and then take your video down without you knowing.
I got a warning from Sony for playing Faith by George Michael just because i used the same preset as he did on the intro of the song.

Is it just me or does the piano sound sound kinda... "plastic"? I don't know, but I've always felt that it is something synthetic about Korgs piano sounds. Always bugged me when I play on my Korg and the same goes for this video when I listen to it.
yeah , felt the same on many Kronos videos over youtube, then I went to try it with my headphones and ended up signing the check :D
In addition you can tweak anything on this machine to make it sound the way you want.
That being said we all have different hearing sensitivities, nothing is better than a real test .

arale2k Got my Kronos on monday. I was blown away by the sounds, but honestly, this demo is shit, it's like he's deliberately using all the worst and volontarily cheap and cheesy sounds.

I agree Korg isn't famous for "real" sounding Piano sounds, but first time i heard the new Berlin Piano from the Kronos 2 on some so so ok logitech speakers, even then you can hear, that this is an amazing sounding Piano
I gotta find a dealer that has this monster in stock to hear it on a real PA.
So far it sounds really amazing. the organs tho is not very impressive at least not on these demos they sound disapointing unless they are trying to make them sound just like the old CX-3 wich btw was amazing for its time, but far from todays clone organs wich may not be a real 300 pound B3 but will fool most people who isn't hammond fanatics.
But the beuty of this instrument is that in "theory" its all what we need .. 7-8 vst plugins in a hardware synth that covers most things and "hopefully" is more stable than to pray that your PC/Mac VST will be able to run a gig without locking up, if you even "have" a system that is able to run that many cpu heavy plugs and effects at once, wich brings me to what I have been wondering about ..
Is the Kronos 2 really able to use all those 7-800 theoretic polyphony from all its engines at once ?
Anyway I'm serious thinking of dishing my 25 year old T-3 for this... /cry

Marcelo yeah I think so since 80's hits are a classic! unlike now some people use soft synth. Then gets mad at the pc when it crashes
It cant hold a candle to analog synths though no matter how well it can imitate it.
I hate VST's. I much prefer hardware.
