so nice to see another film photographer on the Cornish coasts, been getting out a lot lately around these locations, great work and some beautiful shots
I think it's one of the most interesting video. And it can become a reference book for those, who want to know how to use filters. The pictures are mostly wonderful. Thank you very much!
Just discovered you & subscribed. You are working in my back yard here and I'm very familiar with the area. The red filter really enhances the images and is a must for B&W.There is definitely a different feel to film photography. Like you, a couple of years back I bought an old skool Asahi Pentax Spotmatic (still have it). I ran a few rolls of FP4 through it and was amazed at the crisp tones and sharpness compared to digital. Only critique is your shadow was visible in some shots.😉
Great work, thanks for sharing it. Do you know what caused the vertical streaks to appear in a couple of photos of the tower, like the one at 3:46 in the video? I've seen a similar thing on a handful of my recent negatives and haven't been able to track down the cause. In my case, it's on the negatives, not a scanning artifact.
Hi Andrew it was definitely a problem in development for me. I can’t remember how I developed the film but could have been stand developed. I believe the issue here is bromide drag from lack of agitation. I now agitate evenly every 1 min for 10 secs and change the rotation and circulation each time. Good luck hope you get it sorted. All the best Tom
Thanks Tom. That's not it in my case as I'm doing continuous agitation using a Jobo tank and roller. It happens very rarely but I haven't been able to track down the source. Anyway, thanks for replying. Looking forward to more videos...
Cheers Tom. Some interesting images there. I have an old Nikon F Photomic due for delivery tomorrow - time to raid the freezer for a roll or two - Rollei Retro 100. Don't go falling off any cliffs.
You deliver some nice photo's, i like them but you have to monitor your development, there is some serious streaking in your negatives caused by too vigorous agitation or too less agitation, but again, strong pictures 👍🏼
Thanks Bert I think i stand developed these rolls, it’s really annoying because I have some of my favourite images here. I haven’t really had the same problem anywhere near as bad since. I’ve been developing normally since. Many thanks Tom 👍
I haven't shot black and white film for more than 40 years. My good old Minolta SRT100x with 45mm f/2 lens is waiting in the closet. I thought that this gear which I bought 1979 was obsolete but some old fashioned photographers convinced me otherwise. So I am looking for a film to buy and it seems to me that HP5 is quite popular and I wanted to see how images taken on it would look like. I find your images quit impressive but I don't understand why the sky looks so grainy.
@Tom Whelan look forward to more inspiration. I dig your channel. Great images, no fluff. I like that you tell us your settings, but don't handhold us through everything. And, you always look like you are having fun shooting and that's infectious.
Very nice session. Thank you. RS. Canada

Thanks Ray, I hope you get some great images with the Nikon it looks like a beautiful camera….enjoy 👍
That stack/pillar/tower looks like a rook in chess :) Love the red filter shots.
Thank you, I've never really looked at them like that, I'm just going to be chess pieces now 😂
Very nice captures!
Thank you 🙏
great shots. Do you darkroom print them too?
Thanks very much, not at the moment my darkroom equipment is boxed up. My son has taken over the outside shed it used to be in.
All the best Tom 👍
Hi, Tom! Lovely images. Did you use Rodinal 1:25 as the film developer? Thanks!
Hi thanks for watching, that is my go to developer and ratio. All the best Tom 🙏

There are 2 images there that I shot with delta 3200 I imagine it was one of those. Sorry I should have mentioned it.
Nice video Tom, you need to keep your shadow out of your shots though.
Very true I have a habit of doing that.👍
Re-watching some vids. Hoping for a new video soon. Hope you are ok.
Hi Thomas sorry I’ve just been having a break from UA-cam for a while. I will be back soon though. Many thanks Tom 😊
