Is this how you guys have been already exporting? And who else has ran into this washed-out look issue?? Appreciate you guys watching as always!
Hi! I actually have the other problem my images are way too strong in colors!! there is more shadows more colors more everything, and i tried everything so far :(
I did the rookie move of not checking my video before posting it to youtube and later saw it was all washed out 😢 I have all the same settings as you except the new effects LUT stage. I've never had that issue before and suddenly it happened today. Thanks for the tip and download, going to try it now!
Yeah, I thought it was the weirdest thing that all of a sudden my original video footage before editing in premiere pro looked more saturated in colour and then after exporting it and playing back the new exported file it looked so washed out. I'm looking forward to seeing if this fixes the problem for me tomorrow when I start editing again! Thanks for the video!
ran into this a couple of weeks ago and found it quite annoying that premiere doesn't take care of this within the software itself. great clip man!!
I have definitely had this problem! So annoying. I followed all your directions and now my video is going through pass 1. I'm looking forward to seeing if this works!
Really well explained 👍You're nailing your videos no matter what type of video you're putting out, vlog, tutorial, review, content creation tips, you're delivering in every different type 👊
Thats exactly what Im trying to do! Thanks so much for watching and for the comment
THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH!!!! I have been stressing so much today about my video not exporting correctly. This worked & helped so thank you!! Keep doing what you do!
Aye glad it helped! Thanks for watching :)
Loved the video as always! This will be super helpful to refer to when exporting! Thank you for sharing this info!!
Exactly man! We need some more taste tests!! Haha appreciate you as always my man 👊🏻
Thank you so much for this! I am editing a music video for MTV and I was over here losing my mind! You sir, are a life saver. A million thanks!
No prob!
Thank you so much man. I have spent literally 3 days scratching my head, trying everything under the sun including having adobe try help me for 3 and a half hours and I was even so annoyed that I nearly gave up. I mean I was literally a few more attempts away from throwing in the towel and switching to something else simply because I could not fix this issue but all good now and my videos when exported even look better than before which is awesome. Appreciate it brother. Peace
Haha glad it could help!
Omg, you are a lifesaver!! I have been trying to figure out why my videos were exporting washed out. Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much! This problem has been bothering me for over a year and I couldn't figure it out!!! Your a life saver!
Glad I could help!
BRO WHAT A LIFE SAVER! MY GOD!!!!! It's also crazy that this even has to be done! Regardless thanks so much!
Yeah I agree lol, glad you found it helpful!
OMG I thought I was crazy. Thank you so much! The washed-out colors issue was so awful. Now solved.
You're welcome!!
What a difference that makes!! EXCELLENT info, thank you!! 👏👏👏
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much! Was struggling of this for so long time.👍
Glad it helped! Cheers
This should have WAAAY more views. This was the only thing that helped me fix the color in my video upon export!
i don't say this often, but that was a very well done tutorial. precise, no BS. thnx!
I've had the same thing happen so started using this method about 5 months ago actually, so glad I found it when I did so I'm sure this video will help people as well! I got it from an Adobe customer service agent, and they basically told me it's a problem with the interface between Premiere Pro and Quicktime running different color spaces so when you export there is a gamma shift causing the loss in saturation and contrast that this Export LUT is supposed to correct for. I also add an adjustment layer on top of my whole project that raises the blacks, shadows, and saturation a little bit because I personally think the LUT still crushes the blacks too much and loses saturation a little, but it gets you pretty much there and people can do their own testing etc! dang sorry for the long comment haha bottom line I think this video will help a lot of people!
Haha thank you for all this info! I knew others had to be dealing with this and there really isn’t very good info out there on it haha. Makes sense tho I suppose! Thanks for the comment, and good tips. Cheers man!
@@JHawk I thought the same thing about no one really talking about it. If I was making UA-cam videos all the time I definitely would have made a vid on it, glad you did though!
omg this saved me! thank you so much!
Literally ran into this problem at work today, and you had the solution, thanks man! haha!
Haha lets gooo
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!! This was so helpful I was so confused why my colors looked so washed out!!!

thanks dude!
THANKYOU SO MUCH!!!! IT WORKSSS
Thanks for the tip bro m!
Thank you!! Very helpful!!
Glad it helped!
YO HOLY CRAP. IVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS BS DESATURATED EXPORT STUFF FOR MONTHS, AND ITS BEEN SO FRUSTRATING. I ALSO FOUND THAT QT GAMMA LUT IN THE FORUMS, BUT APPLIED IT AS AN ADJUSTMENT LAYER INSTEAD OF THE EXPORT AND IT LOOKED LIKE ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. BUT AFTER SEEING YOU APPLY IT IN THE EXPORT I TRIED IT AND DAMN IT FREAKING WORKS AND IM SHOOOOOOOOOOOOK. THANK YOU MAN
Hahahaha YUP. Dude game changer, I know this is such a specific thing but it was driving my insane so im glad it could help you man!
THX MAN!!!
Thanks a ton for m1 color
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!
Thanks man! Helped me export a music video :D
Thats awesome! Thanks for watching
thank you so much bro ❤️
🤘🏻🤘🏻
It worked dude I love you.haha thanks
Aye! So glad it helped haha, was driving me insane. Thanks for watching!
Going to have to give this a try, so frustrating editing a video for hours and getting the look you want for it to only end up looking washed out after rendering.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!
Anytime 💪🏼
This is amazing
Thanks a lot mate!
Anytime! Thanks for watching!
You are a saviour dudeee!!!
Yo glad it helped! Cheers
you saved my A** truly appreciate it 💕
Glad it help! Cheers 🤙🏻
Thanks man. You saved my life
Aye I’m glad! I was hoping people could find this that have had this same issue. So frustrating
thanku 🤩
Even with this Lut, my exports still don’t look nearly the same as the do in Premiere. It looks just darker, but not at all the same color grade. Super frustrating.. any tips?
Hmmmm and you added this during export not as an adjustment layer correct?
JHawk Yah man. Added at export. It’s just like the lut makes the footage darker but doesn’t not create the same colors as my premiere grade. Super frustrating
Damn sorry man. I would say this fixed my issue pretty damn close to perfect so I can’t figure out what’s going on with yours. Sorry homie, if you figure it out let me know
Yeah same. It's better but the colours aren't exact, especially with graphics. Such a weird issue that adobe don't address within their software. I know it's for TV output, but that must be 0.01% of their users.
Are you guys using premiere 2019 or 2020?
You're the GOAT
OMG thank you! I had this problem since I got my Mac laptop and it was driving me crazy!
So glad it helped!
@@JHawk But it came out darker than it was supposed to... How do I change that?
🙌🙌🙌 Thank you kind sir
Anytime! Glad it helped!
I'm having this issue for my exports where there would be a color shift on any clip that has some sort of effect (ex: a digital zoom) or a layered clip. This only happens with VBR 1 pass hardware encoding enabled (no issues with software encoding), so i feel like its some sort of GPU setting? Any idea about this problem??
Hmm wow no I don’t sorry! Haven’t heard of that one but if you figure it out let me know! Best of luck
As others have mentioned this does darken final render compared to the program monitor in adobe pp cc. Using the export LUT above combined with an adjustment layer on the timeline (or piggybacking off existing adjustment layer) and boosting exposure by .3 has made this a near perfect fix for me. As an aside, totally unacceptable that adobe does not have a fix for this in 2021, for software I pay a substantial monthly fee for. What the hell...
Yeah it’s pretty sad lol
This is an Apple 2.2 gamma problem, not an Adobe problem. It's been like this for years.
absolutely agree that adobe is really not handling this well. to me this is core functionality, not a side dish.
Totally agree!! Thank you for the .3 exposure tip!
It's 2022 - has there been a fix yet? This tutorial worked for me!!! Thanks much!
Can you do a video on coloring? I take videos with my phone and anytime i import to pp, it always looks washed out. How do i color correct?
Amazing quick fix! This worried me after having a film graded and then it all went away in Quicktime
It is a very weird thing. But I’m glad it helped, thanks for watching!
THANK YOU!!!!
No problem!
thanks a lot!
Anytime!
Thanks man
Aye anytime! Thanks for watching!
Is anyone else getting a black screen when they try to add the LUT? In Media Encoder, when I go to Effects > Lumetri Look / LUT and select the QT Gamma Compensation.cube file, the preview window goes black. Then on export, the audio is there but the visuals are missing / black. Same result when exporting from all formats and presets. Any advice? Thanks!
Hmm I am not, but def will keep you posted if i do! Best of luck finding the fix
@@JHawk - All good, I closed all programs and shut down my mac overnight. The next day it worked! I think I had too many things open and my computer was struggling.
any idea how I can trasnform the webm washed out in premiere into a decent looking footage? colorwise
Nah sorry!
2023 here. Is this issue still ongoing for you guys? Any fixes if ever? (This still helped me btw. I'm on 2020 Premiere)
Hey thanks for posting this it did help my video tremendously, but everything seems a bit too dark, is there anyway to adjust this within? Or do I need to do that on a global adjustment layer?
You would just have to make another adjustment later yep
I'm not able to choose "Hardware Encoding" under the Encoding Settings. Will "Software Encoding" work as well?
I think so but it’ll be much slower
Should Preferences>General>"Display Color Management (GPU acceleration)" be turned ON or OFF??
On I think!
I'm rendering now, I hope this fixes my issue!
Hi! I get false colours when I do the LUT. But I don't get any colour grading redered without the LUT. Dit anyone found out the real issue? I have premiere pro on iMac and it's really a bad problem for my projects and clients! Thanks so much if anybody can help me!
If you find the real issue let me know! This is the closest thing I’ve found
When I apply this lut my video export becomes dark - nothing shows at all
Any help ??
Check description and use the M1 one
Thanks for this!!! Regards from Madrid!! Its actually so annoying that this happens and theres no solution from Adobe....
I totally agree, glad you found this tho, thanks!
Idk, even with it checked it doesnt look exacly like in preview.. its still washed out after export, just a bit less
Okay, another thing I realised later on is that even though it looks close to washed out in the video player on my pc, after uploading it on UA-cam it actually looks like in Premiere Pro before exporting, so all is good
That's a great video. Thank you!!! So I want to ask how you get that LUT file?
Linked in the description!
Hey, when I add the file, for some reason it makes my video totally black. Is there smth I did wrong?:”)
Sorry not sure! I havent seen that doing these steps
I get this too!
As soon as I apply that final lut everything goes dark 😔 any way to fix that?
You must be on an M1 mac, check the description box for the m1 lut
that's working on my video,, thanks ,,👌
Awesome! Glad it helped, cheers!
Thanks JHawk
what app do you need to open this, every time I try to save it to a folder it says I dont have the right app to open it but it wont tell me what app I need, I seriously dont understand why this is so complicated
Hmm. You don’t ever have to open it. You just follow exactly how I used it in the video
What the HECK dude. You saved my ass! Dealing with this problem since YEARS. wtf
Haha glad you found the video and it helped! Cheers 💪🏼
Hey did you notice that when you clicked (use maximum render quality) the format changed to ( custom ) is that normal, it's driving me crazy!
can you please help
Yes, anytime you changed anything it switches it to custom. Totally normal and ok
@@JHawk thanks for your reply I also have that problem whenever I upload to youtube my video gets darker, is it possible to talk to you via Instagram DM please and thank you
Just recently got a new MacBook & have been having this washed out colour issue. However when I use the LUT when going through the export settings my entire video goes black. Any ideas what's happening here??
No I haven’t. But heard this a couple times in the last 2 days so maybe it’s with the M1 MacBooks? What camera are you using?
@@JHawk Ah that may be it. It’s the M1 MacBook I’m now using. Usually shoot on the Sony A6500. The footage I was trying to edit today however was from a Mavic Pro 2
Interesting. I usually run into it with the canon r or R5 so it just be a premiere issue. My M1 MacBook is on its way, but I know premiere is t optimized yet, so fingers crossed they fix it soon
I get this too on a 2014 iMac😩
We need some "I create content to help creators create better looking content" merch asap!
I'd be lying if I said I haven't started working on a little something behind the scenes. Early stages. Thanks for watching dude!
@@JHawk I'd expect nothing less man!
It does fix it somewhat but now it makes the blacks too dark and the tint is off too. Have had to mess with applying the LUT to an adjustment layer, dropping the intensity, and adjusting the blacks, shadows, tint, saturation on top to bring it to somewhat similar colors.. This is so unacceptable premiere! Seriously a dealbreaker and am considering switching to final cut or davinci after years of living on the adobe suite.
Yeah I agree it’s not completely perfect but it’s definitely a lot better than before. And yeah I hear you it’s definitely really frustrating!
When I applied, the video export completely black. Anyone has this issue know how can fix this?
You need the M1 version of the LUT it’s in the description or comments
The preview goes fully black after adding the LUT. Anyone knows the fix for this?
Use the M1 one linked below
After fooling around with several settings in the export, I found when you change the Profile in Video Encoding to High10 and the Export Color Space to Rec. 2100 HLG, it outputs it exactly how I expect. My video source is a iPhone 13 Mini
Interesting, will def try this!
@@JHawk Would love to hear how it turns out for you. Perhaps it is just my setup or something because interestingly I don't need to make these adjustments on the same computer when the video is from my iPad
Client is breathing down my neck in this very moment. This saved my ass!!! Thanks @Jhawk!!!
Aye lfg!
You're the only tutorial of this fix that actually worked for me.. I followed the same steps on every video but yours just seemed to work when I did it... I guess you got that magic in you 🪄 Thank you bro! Keep crushing it
Haha glad it helped! Cheers
Can I use other LUT before Gamma Compensation LUT?
Yep just use it on an adjustment layer before your export in your timeline!
Thank u, I ll check that out and compare it..👍 keep shining with ur YT channel.
Thank you!
Dude my color correction is washed out in my timeline how do i fix?
In the timeline?? Sounds like you just need to color it then
Hello guys is anyone still have same problem? I applied m1 lut but export still washout I don't know why
Weird, works for me!
@@JHawk I contact with adobe help service they could not find the solution also! I think cuz of iPhone footage but still not make sense
The only thing that worked for me was enabling Display Color Management (preferences in Premiere Pro>general>check "Display Color Management (requires GPU acceleration)" box. Then I was able to color correct while working on the timeline and it exported exactly the same
dude i’m having a major issue where the video i see in premiere comes out completely different after I render…
Not sure if it’s not this bro
It's definitely not a camera issue. I do most my work in Premier Pro with no video footage and I have that gitch.
When I click on "select" it does not take me to a folder. Anyone having this problem? How do I fix it?
Hmm I have not!
im having the same issue it wont save it to my folders and tells me I dont have the proper app to save this in but wont tell me what app I need?
Man your video was really nice and helpful for many settings. The only problem is that my video still does not reach the same color level as it should and looks washed out, even though I applied the LUT :(
Sadly not perfect but it’s close
@@JHawk Not even close in my case, I'm creating a website for a filmmaker and the 100% yellow in one of his music videos where I took a small clip for the site looks like around 70% yellow which is really sad because now I did it with iMovie and it worked xD
i actually find the lut is too harsh and contrasty. I just design my own adjustment layer that I put on as a final step before exporting where I've added extra saturation and contrast myself. This way you can tweak it a little to your liking rather than being locked to what the LUT is doing.
Very nice!
For everybody getting a BLACK SCREEN just use the M1 Macs LUT. Yes, even if you have an older Mac.
