    62 year old Texan here. After voting for R's most of my life, I'm ashamed to say that I didn't vote in 2016. I couldn't find a reason to support either candidate. In 2020 I voted for Biden and I'm not going back. For the first half of my life, Texas was blue as the sky. It will be blue again. When the Three Stooges ram vouchers through, rural schools will start closing (as they are now in Florida) and Republicans will be done for a long time.

The cost of you getting pro-life, lower taxes, less regulations, pro gun...policies is that you skip the results part of getting what you wished. You get lower taxes for the wealthy and a sliver of a tax break for you that never lasts. Resulting in an oligarchy were the rich do amazing and you get shit on when the economy breaks. You get pro life supreme court and you get women losing vital medical care and still no help for the children born or orphans or help with adoption. You get less regulations. Result banks and businesses with more freedom to fleece the American people getting richer. You get companies getting richer and causing more damage. Pro gun...no control keeping guns out of the non responsible gun owners or crazies. Or felons. Your wish list hurts America. At the very least you can see Trump is awful and horrible person.

    • @michaeljiggs2053
      @michaeljiggs2053 20 днів тому

      @tomworthjr I really do believe in a balanced government where neither party can do what ever they want but at the same time the democrats need a good 12 year run to get things solidified with step 1 recovery from previous republican policies, step 2 to full integration of democratic economic policies, step 3 surgical attack on out of control spending. Step 1 unfortunately lasts too long after Reagan/ Bush and then another Bush and now Trump. Democrats are constantly using up a first term Presidency to battle a wealthy tax break that blew up the debt and deficit. That lasts usually 6 to 8 years because of the blockade of Republicans in congress. The democrats have never had the chance to fix the tax issues. Anything over $480k per year pays more. Middle class with big tax cut....etc. Never got done. Step 2 is essentially the tax cuts, infrastructure, enforcing anti monopoly laws, and corporate price gouging from food, oil, land, real estate. Infrastructure with high speed rail, commuter trains, roads, bridges, internet to rural America. Obama had the house pass the high speed rail train from Chicago to St. Louis, but Republicans wouldn't fund it. Step 3 like Obama said attack spending with a scalpel not a sledge hammer. Invest money to attack fraud in welfare and SS. Reinstate Clinton's welfare reform act that the Republicans let lapse for future attacks for votes...(just like they just did to Langfords immigration bill). Go after waste in the defense budget, waste in all programs, all departments. The democrats never get an opportunity to do these. Mainly because everytime a Democrat gets in the white house Republicans suddenly care about spending since Clinton. Clinton created the first surplus since early 60's. Bush threw it in the garbage. Speaking of that the democrats have wanted to fix campaign finance and try to get money out of politics. Sen Durbin has stated every time he handed McConnell a bill for that McConnell threw it in the trash can right in front of him. Get rid of the electoral college. ALL votes count. Fix the State senator problem. Why does California get 2 senators and the Dakota, Montana, Vermont, Rhode Island each get 2? Fix gerrymandering for both sides. Sorry...I'm just getting started this is just a snippet. Bit you seemed like a republican that could actually have this conversation most are not capable or willing.

If enough of you Texas Republicans get involved and offer others like yourself respectable and honorable reasons for voting for Dems this year, it could make a huge difference.
    One thing I think is interesting, along those lines, is that 19 of Trump's former cabinet members are not supporting him this time, including, of course VP Pence. His former Press Secretary and other former aides are warning us about him.
    And a day or two ago, one of the nation's most conservative, and widely respected judges, Michael Luttig, endorsed Harris.
    Conservatives all over the place are dumping Trump BECAUSE they are true conservatives! It's amazing....

Now I'm an ANTI-project 2025/agenda 47/white christian nationalism/theocracy/trump/maga/gop. I'm no longer alone. We aren't organized but some of us follow ex Tea Party Joe Walsh's pledge ... Because I'm old (80) and grew up in Jim Crow and when women lacked Equality ... and I'm a woman and we are not going back to when States could impose radical, conservative agendas on their residents. Trump is a prime example. Project 2025 has been growing since Reagan, hence the corrupt SCOTUS we now have. Trump's picks were made by the Heritage Foundation. He was anti-establishment (and still is), and many people did not like the power of the Democrat machine and the Clintons taking over. But once we saw what he would do with his "mandate" (after LOSING the popular vote), we quickly realized. Too late, to be sure. Thanks for your honesty. Many people feel the way you do. I live in Alabama, where the Republican supermajority has run roughshod over the people because “they can” in an emboldened Trump environment. They are no longer working for “We the People,” but for one man, whom they seek to please and push His agenda. I’ve voted Republican many times in my life (and have little option to do otherwise in most circumstances), but I could never support someone who is morally bankrupt. He has tried to destroy our country by aiming to divide and conquer us. I love my fellow Americans, whether or not they agree with me ideologically. I want us to return to that time (before Trumpism). I want to return to a time of two robust, “healthy” political parties. I want patriots like Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, Adam Kinzinger, and other Republicans to restore the party of Lincoln. We must have two “healthy” parties to remain a Democracy. We are not “a failing country” as Trump has said. We are the greatest country on earth. We have tried to uphold ideals that give individuals more rights and freedoms than any other society on earth. What has happened to the MA GOP over the last couple years is a concerning case study. Put up moderate candidates and had a popular moderate governor reelected in 2018, once he was gone they excised any moderation and are all in for Trump. During the RNC roll call they called their state “MAGAchusetts.” They’d rather roll with the orange man than be electorally viable.

    On the pro-life angle, what about when the baby is already DEAD and necrotic in the mother's womb. The baby SHOULD have been stillborn but it wasn't. Why do pro-lifers block the removal of an already dead fetus until the mother's womb is ravaged with infection and she's suffering and dying?
    Also, on the pro-choice side, if they stopped using such vague terms about the issue and just explain it as in the previous paragraph, some of the restrictive laws would be loosened. Of course, the medical industry is partly to blame. If the baby is dead, they should call it something besides abortion. I used to be pro-life, but then my wife was pregnant at a time when Louisiana was writing insane laws. Then it happened all over the country before the Supreme Court intervened. I realized then that pro-lifers can't stop themselves from going too far in legislation. Sort of like letting vegans run the FDA.
