- Experts are warning that increasing crowds queueing for the summit on Mount Everest are putting climbers at growing risk.
It comes after a British man went missing while climbing the mountain earlier this week. Dan Paterson and his Nepali guide fell when an overhanging mass of snow collapsed.

What’s so fun about sitting in a queue on the top of a mountain? They need to limit how many people can ascend the mountain.
They do limit the numbers.
Some people just like to tick to box.

@@jskok3280It's a real clip, the parties that go up form lines that stretch out so far it creates a hazard for those trying to return from the 'death zone'. Crazy how it's managed.

Same. The sherpas are only doing that job because they need the money. The climbers are there to boost their ego.

It's too much. The queues are as bad as a theme park.
In itself that's a safety problem.
As cool as scaling a big mountain like that looks, the idea of having to stand there and wait in a line near the top just sounds so dumb.

Of course nobody wants to see climbers die. Its their choice to put their lives at risk for whatever reason that makes no sense to me. I don't understand any of it.
Mountains attract people I guess, they always have and no doubt always will. Whether it be the highest ones the likes of Everest or K2 or spiritual ones like Carmel or Cross people feel challenged by them dont they. Mountains can be and are often life changing places anyway, all accidents seperate. Not a nice place to go missing on that summit.
Why would people fund the rescue of a man who's willingly chosen to take massive risks with his life on the line.
And frozen solid to be sure.

@vixterz2 that Sherpas family will likely never get their family member back nor will they get mass funding which btw if the Sherpa passed away they don't even get the momey for the climb. Their family is left with nothing but an addition to the 300 bodies already in the mountain.

I dont believe everybody goes there to brag. There are many people who are actually passionate about climbing and have been to other mountains as well. It's a shame Nepal allows such crowds.

That's exactly what happens ij scenarios like this.
Unfortunately it seems they both won’t be getting recovered, and the go fund me is now being refunded to everyone that kindly donated.
I have never actually heard anyone explain why the queue happens, was when he said only 270 people have been to the top this year it made me question it and realise its not actually many. The queues happen because there are small windows of opportunity weather wise and the vast majority of those are in May.
Ridiculous just climb another one in the range there are many around 8000 metres.
Its LITTERED with corpses ,over 200 dead people still not recovered its dangerous to do so

Too many permits being issued…creating a log jam queue. They don’t care about the lives lost…it’s all about the money.
Sherpa are mostly living in poverty. They have to risk their lives to support family.

Also who is gonna pay the family of the sherpa whose family literally won't even see the money (4k if it's successful to the summit only 1.5 k if they make it to the 3rd camp) from the successful climb

They need to highly limit permits however it seems the local economy needs the revenue so I highly doubt permits will be reduced

Getting worse every year. Nepal government should be ashamed of themselves for handing out way too many permits. Queues and inexperienced climbers are the reason why climbing the mountain is more deadly than ever. The poor sherpas are losing their lives every year just trying to provide for their families.
So the family want money for him to be the first person ever to be rescued from Everest. Seems naive.

disappeared on mount Everest? definitely dead. why is it ppl with too much time and money spend it on stupid stuff like this. kinda like those ppl who died trying to see the sunken titanic.... its old ship and a freaking snowy rock. the only thing that would be worth. is going to space and experiencing weightlessness.
It should be compulsory for those wanting to climb Everest to watch a documentary on the 1996 Everest disaster before climbing. It seems that none of those lessons have been learned and history will repeat itself again.
