How to Rodent Proof your Garage

If you have a garage, the largest door in your home is your garage door. Often, mice and other rodents can get into the home through the large opening which is the garage door. The bottom of a garage door has a rubber seal which is installed to keep weather, bugs, and water out of the garage. Over time, this seal can become compressed, torn, or chewed through allowing mice and rodents into the house.
By replacing the garage door bottom seal, we can effectively seal out the rodents from getting in. The seal that we use has a rodent-proof metal fabric on the inside to prevent mice and rodents from simply chewing the rubber seal. Not only will the new seal keep the weather and pests out but it will also prevent mice and rodents from chewing their way in!
On the sides of the garage door are weather seals that run vertical along both sides of the garage door. These seals are mounted to the garage door framing and are also made of rubber. Their job is to keep weather and insects out of the garage. Mice LOVE to chew through the bottom corner of these seals and enter the garage. We install metal covers over the bottom 8 inches to prevent mice and other rodents from being able to chew their way in.
With a new rodent-proof garage door seal and metal caps over the side seals, we can effectively and permanently prevent mice from entering the garage. Once mice and rodents are in the garage, it's only a matter of time before they enter the attic, basement, or inside the home itself. With some new seals we can prevent mice and rodents for years and years!
