  • It was just too windy and choppy to fish so we thought we’d explore. The #kakukayak Zulu handled the water easily. We were standing up in our boats in the chop with absolute confidence.

Thank you for this video. Was on the fence on what to get Old Town or this and thinking a Kaku. I need one for myself and one for my 14 year old son. This kayak seems like it would be safe and enjoyable for him.

I’m glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful. It will be plenty stable for you and your son.
My 15 year old has been on a Kaku for a couple years now and he loves it. You’ll find videos on this channel of him out fishing on a Kaku

Have you been on any nucanoes and if so how do they compare? i cant decide if i want a nucanoe or kaku

I have been out in a Nucanoe Frontier and it’s stable. More stable than the Zulu or Voodoo? I’d say it’s about the same. The seat and the open deck design of the Zulu and Voodoo really set them apart though.
I recommend finding a dealer that will let you demo several different models. Take a rod with you and try casting in each if you plan on fishing out of them. I think Kaku makes the best on the market but what works for me may not work for you.

been looking at getting one of these how hard is it to pedal and would you say the boat is made with great quality? Thanks!

I have 2 Zulus in addition to my Voodoo. One is pedal drive, one has a trolling motor. When I’m in the Zulus I use the pedal drive and let someone else use the motor. It pedals super easy and smooth. It’s easy to lift the pedals up to clear debris out of the prop if necessary and I prefer the instant reverse of pedal drives. It’s like pedaling a recumbent bicycle.
I feel Kaku is not only quality made but they’re made with us in mind. Kevin’s goal in making them is they have to paddle well in addition to being able to pedal easily. The Zulu is super stable. I’m 5’11” and 250 and bring another 100 pounds of gear probably. I stand on the deck, stand on the seat, walk around on it. Of all the kayaks I’ve owned, #kakukayaks makes the best in my opinion.
