The fact Paul sat down to talk about that shot a year later even though you know he went through so much shock and pain, to sit and be positive and give his perspective but not make it about him is awesome to see.
I'm sure his 5 claws before this helped ease the pain
@@JacobPorterLadderplus the one after.
@@erakfishfishfish And the 10 Million contract.
Because PMB is a professional and an ambassador to the sport. He is a legend. And he acts like one. You should try it. Why don't you go to some countries and set up courses? This is for the haters. FYu. Paul is an amazing person, and you probably wouldn't be playing if it wasn't for a part that he played.
@@MakersTeleMarkagreed 100%..... I’ve heard him say that he wishes Ken Climo was more involved, I think it’s because he himself wants to remain involved as an ambassador for the rest of his life.
"I'm happy that James threw that shot in because I knew it was bigger than the tournament we were playing"
- Words of an extremely humble man
Yeah, what a great perspective. Respect to Paul.
Paul McBeth what a champ. that interview at the end was genuine sportsmanship right there.
#GOAT
I've been a casual player since I was 13 and just turned 38. I fell out of it for a while, and after losing my mom and becoming sober from alcoholism right after, this sport has saved my life in so many ways!
Congrats on your sobriety. That’s great man! This game makes me want to drink most of the time😂. Best wishes in your recovery.
I too am sobering up. Walking the course breathing fresh air gets you in a good mind frame. Good luck to you
was your life about to end?
Amen!
Good job, keep going! Similar story.. I got sober, and needed healthy things to fill time. I was hiking a lot, and then someone mentioned disc golf during Covid. I was like "wait a minute, it's hiking with a game?!" Lol I was sold and have been playing since. 4+yrs sober now.
The most beautiful, divine moment there will ever be. In any sport.
As Nate Sexton said...
"This isn't a home run in the bottom of the 9th in a world series, this isn't a 3 pointer to win the NBA championship. This is BIGGER."
Youre damn right, a throw in from that far is something that many players take years to achieve, I know I did, but to do it in that moment, where you get just one chance with a world title on the line, it truly might be the greatest shot/throw done in any sport ever
@@jrapattii9941and then the fact that shot was just to TIE and keep his head above water so to speak… he needed to calm himself after what was surely one of the biggest surges of emotion he had ever felt, and buckle down and throw one more high pressure shot to land that island. Incredible.
lolll not even close. that was the hardest i had laughed in so long when i heard him say that!

Witnessing this moment in person was one of the greatest events in my life. I'll never forget the energy and emotions we felt in those stands.
I'm just glad I was watching live.
what an awesome memory to have. everytime you think about it you can get free dopamine😂
You weren't there. Cool story though
@@MJC-he3zt lol ok. I could literally point myself out in multiple shots in the jomez video but whatever.
I've been playing Disc golf since 2005,I'm 63 years old and have played and watched sports virtually my entire life. The shot by James Conrad in my opinion is as good if not better than any situation in sports I've seen or been involved in!I still get chills and feel strong emotions watching it.I hope to continue to play by the grace of God and I really feel the sport is only in its beginning stages. Thanks to anyone involved with the sport from the players to the volunteers!
This was an incredible doc. I'm very impressed with the production of this and I appreciate everyone involved. I'll never forget this shot, it truly did so much for the sport and we all owe James Conrad a debt of gratitude for making such a clutch play. That World Championship was so much fun from so many places from Kevin Jones having a great run and me yelling at my TV while his disc rolled ob (twice) on 16. Calvin making some huge plays and giant putts to stay in contention round after round. Watching Nate Sexton play at the highest level again. Watching the 5x world champ Paul McBeth fight so hard then lose in a moment like that and handle it with poise and move forward. James Conrad will never be forgotten in our sport. I can't even imagine what it takes to make that shot, then step up to hole 16 and put away your emotions and calm your body enough to park a drive on an Island hole like 16. He was already a big name in disc golf but after that one shot, he's immortalized.
That was my first time going to watch a tournament and I got to witness the best shot in history. Such an amazing day. I will remember that moment forever.
Goosebumps every time I see that shot go in and the crowd go wild. Great production and showcase of the sport we love
I was introduced to this game in late 1999, La Mirada Park in Cali. Lived in Brea which is close by. I live in the Pittsburgh area now and turned 40 this year. I love this game, my family loves this game, and we'll help grow the sport forever. This was so great to watch.
"All they have to do is throw a few good ones and they'll be hooked." That says it all right there.
Great documentary, thank you.
Was there in person for this, standing a few yards behind James, the shot and the crowd and all the insanity that happened is something I will absolutely remember forever.
I love how you could see that Paul was very happy for James! I've been throwing the envy for 2 years now!
I started throwing the Envy a few months before Conrads shot. When I realized it was an Envy I knew it would be a while before I could buy another.
I use the same envy and it’s my most trusted one.
I got into the game because of Brodie Smith. When he started making fun, colorful, and entertaining Disc Golf content. It started popping up on my page. And I couldn't resist. Went out and bought a Buzz and a Roach and have played almost everyday since.
Hi, I just started playing about two months ago after a guy at work invited me. Living in Long Island NY this sport is still very much a secret. My girlfriend told me explaining it to everyone who asks where I am is exhausting. 😄 We only have 2 courses on the whole island and the nearest one to me is 30 minutes away. This doesn’t stop me from playing 3 times a week but I can’t wait until it finally catches on around here. I love the sport and I know SO many more people will as well if they only knew. I wish someone would come build a nice course out here on the east end of the island. I can’t wait for the growth of this sport out here in the future. Thanks to everyone who was responsible for the creation, evolution and growth of this sport thus far. I appreciate you guys for a sport I love and have quickly become obsessed with 😊
Been in the sport for almost 17 yrs. Will never stray away. This made me cry at one point, plastic runs through my veins.
Great production 😍
And man… Paul McBeth is such a class act both on and off the course!
Still get chills every time I watch this. One of the most spectacular and emotional moments in sports history.
I had just been introduced to this sport barely a month before the "holy shot". I watched it on coverage next day and had no idea what had happened. What a moment! I literally remember thinking it was over, with James having to lay up, and thinking the best he can do is park it...but that just means Paul can casually get up and down for the win. I was excited for that, because as I was just learning about disc golf and its history, my limited exposure to the sport had me rooting for Paul's now assured 6th world championship! Then, to watch that Envy slowly turn and pan out into the basket, from close to 250ft away, I was immediately in shock...just as the crowd was....knowing it was now going to be pushed into a playoff! That moment, I felt my entire stance shift and I was now wanting to see James win the playoff, because I felt he deserved it after fighting through the entire tournament and capping off 18 with that miracle throw!! This moment catapulted me into disc golf obsession and from there I began buying disc after disc, haven't missed coverage for a single tournament since then, got my PDGA # and began entering tournaments myself. Thank you James, Paul, PDGA, DGPT, and the entire history of the sport for bringing this amazing thing into my life. Wish I would have found this sport years ago! 💪
I got my first starter set xmas 22, watching this tournament was my introduction to the sport.
Awesome history. I started playing in 1975 in Auckland, NZ. I turned 70 last year and am still playing in Nelson NZ.
Got into the game in 2020 as a way to get some sun while mostly locked away in the dungeons of my work and home. I knew there were pros, but the sport was still just kinda a local thing. Witnessing James's shot on youtube as a newbie... felt amazing. I just barely got in at the ground level RIGHT before taking off. What a time to be alive, and even better time to be disc golfing. Thank you for this documentary. Beautifully done
This documentary is so good. Very well produced and the progression of the information presented keeps your attention. Hard to believe it hasn’t hit over 100k views. Sharing to every disc golf buddy, friend and family member with even the slightest bit of interest in the sport. Thanks PDGA for this incredible video.
Being at 2021 Worlds and witnessing The Shot is easily the best thing I have ever been apart of in my life. 2 years later I still get chills watching it. Amazing.
I was watching this live and got chills when it happened, so epic.
i get chills even rewatching it 😊
I watched the 2021 worlds before I ever touched a disc. I have picked up the game because of that throw! Love the sport!
I'm 50 now and only in my second season of playing this sport. I caught the coverage of this shot last winter and I STILL watch it. Today I found this tribute to this amazing sport and it made me cry❤
I was watching this live on the app. Still brings tears to my eyes. The crowd's eruption is so raw. Gives me goosebumps.
Just the sound of the crowd alone should be enough to tell you disc golf is officially here to stay, so glad I found my way to this community when I did! Best month of my life! Already been out for almost 25 rounds! Went from +46 with dollar store discs to +2 with a full set of fantastic discs, and hoping to only get better!!
Just wanna say that this shot was the birth of my love for disc golf. I was a brand new spectator when worlds was happening and James winning sparked a fire that has been burning ever since🔥
I'm definitely one of the new, post covid, players whose been geeking since my buddy put me on in late March 2021.
Currently @39:42 and I had to stop to say: THANK YOU!
To all those who forged and fostered the sport and community of Disc Golf, I am eternally grateful to have become a small part of it.
Great memory watching this live traveling across the country. I couldn’t stop talking about it my entire vacation.
Every time I watch this I come away with something new
Every time Eric talks i just think its Uli when im not looking. Its scary.
Great doc and glad its finally available for everyone to enjoy. Even tho im a DGN subscriber
Wow incredible production guys, this sport has really changed my life in a good way. Great documentary
I started playing in 2015 and I've experienced a massive growth of the sport and loved every second of it. It's truly humbling thinking how it must feel for those first guys who at one point knew every single player personally.
the most clutch moment in SPORTS history
Turning 58. Introduced myself late 80's. Played in the 90's. 2000's took OFF. What a great sport.
I only saw the MPO side on Jomez, so I had no idea how closely the FPO and MPO rounds mirrored each other. I almost feel bad for Katrina. Her shot was a miracle and made for such a great underdog story beating Paige, but James' shot overshadowed it so much that I had never even seen it before. Even more than that, I didn't even remember that she won. That story makes the 2021 worlds even cooler for me. It had amazing moments on both sides and epitomizes why I love the game so much
Greatest sport moment ever. Great documentary showcasing this sport and this event. I started to disc golf in April of this year (2023), 2 weeks ago I played my first tournament. After discovering this sport, disc golf is all I ever want to do. I'm 27 years old and I will play this sport as long as I can.
All the pressure, the tree hit on his tee shot, the frustration, and the ability to calm himself. To throw a putter, on a turnover, that far, that precisely, with the sun in your face, without being able to see the hole from his position regardless, behind by 1, to a 5x world champion, on the final hole, of the world championship, after COVID, surrounded by all the fans who were there, both in person, and watching the online coverage, you could hear a pin drop in the tall grass, then came the sonic boom of the roaring crowd! Disc golf entered a new era of recognition and acceptance as a sport worldwide and gained so many new fans and players, the sport will never be the same because of this shot. 5x female champion was upset on the final hole, and the 5x male champion was upset on the final hole. You couldn’t even believe it, and every time you watch it, you just want to watch it again, and again, and again, and again!
Like a lot of people I tried the sport during the COVID crap and fell in love instantly with it even though I was not good at all but that just made me want to get better. A few years later I won my local league for the first time against people who have played a lot longer and are definitely better than me and just that alone was a great feeling. I love this sport and I don't think I'll ever stop playing.
Watching this and then looking at what Isaac was doing in 2021, and then seeing this shot, this exact shot, in so many of his approaches - taking him to the throne of 2023. Amazing.
Amazing documentary. Had to stop it several time and just muse out into the air before resuming.
I had the best view of this. The disc literally flew over my head on its way in. So amazing to see in person.
I’m so late to watching this, but wow, what an incredibly well made documentary. Totally agree with the other commenters that Paul is goat for being part of this. Could never watch that moment too many times. I also can remember exactly the moment I watched that happen live. 🙌
Awesome hour and a half but I do feel like they should have at least mentioned that Paul laid up to give a little more context. At 1:13:14 Nate Doss mentions "and then it's the decision from Paul" but they don't say what Paul did. They just go right James' magical incredibly awesome shot. Still gives me chills watching this again though.
I was looking for this comment. It killed the context and the vibe honestly. Great watch but that kinda stung.
My 11 year old son and i just went out for our first round. I dont know how he feels ablut the game yet, but i am madly in love. I can actually afford to play too. Its so wonderful.
Wonderful presentation of sport thus far. I absolutely resonate with the quote, "Throw a couple good shots and you're hooked." Love this.
Started playing in 1998. Crazy how far we've come.
What a great documentary, thank you for putting this together. I want to go play, right now!
Always a good watch. As the sport runs into a bit of a stagnation compared to it's trajectory after the Holy Shot, this makes me excited again.
In 1982 I toured with a Christian band in the NW. We hadn't heard of frisbee golf, but we invented our own game of frisbee speed golf, played in any park where we stopped between gigs. You got 1 stroke added for where you were in the order putting out. Everyone teed off at the count of three, then ran and dove like crazy to get to the 'hole' first, which was usually a specific trunk, a trash can, or a picnic table bench.
That was the most aerobic game I ever played. As much running as soccer, as much twisting and turning as racquetball, and as much body slamming as football. And as much laughter as a comedy show.
absolutely incredible video! THIS is EXACTLY what disc golf needs!! BRILLIANTLY written and edited!
Played very casually for the last decade or so, but watching the worlds made me realize there is so much more room for my game to grow. Now, 2023 was my first year joining tournaments. Still got a lotta room to grow, but it's been a great ride so far. Would love to compete at a higher level one day like these guys.
Believe or not, the finals and the holy shot was my first experience of watching disc golf, ive been hooked ever since.
Still get goosebumps watching that shot every time
That last round is the best advertisement for live disc golf you could ever have. I was watching it live at my desk and it felt like big-time sports.
Having met James and Paul, and also proud to say Micheal Johansen was the partially responsible party for first exposure to Monty Python & The Holy Grail when I was 15, I can attest these individuals are 100% class acts. Very friendly and love to shoot the shit, but when the discs are flying... .snake eyes. pure competitors. This is a great documentary. I remember when I first saw this shot way up in the mountains of NC and my jaw dropped. I was running around and dancing and enjoying the moment... not against Paul and not for James, but for the sport. something truly special had just happened. Also I am glad this movie covered the women's tees as that alone was a helluva story.
I used to play at least 3x a week back in the 1990's. There were some awesome courses in Summit County Colorado. I then got into darts and stopped playing disc golf. So after 23 years or so I just got back into it. Thankfully a brand new course opened up 1/2 mile down the road from me. I'm getting back into it full send. Can't get enough of it. This was a GREAT video btw!!
This is probably the most amazing thing I will ever witness in this lifetime
My former coworker got me into this sport and I'm grateful for it. ESPN and popularity had no play on me. It's a great sport to watch
That was a great video with great moments of the history of discgolf. Thanks to all the people, who made this video possible. That was warming my heart! Thanks for this amazing high-class-documentation and best greetz from Germany!
Beautifully produced- teared up a time or two
I saw it on UA-cam live, but I didn’t realize how similar the FPO and MPO endings were. Incredible.
Such a well done documentary. Thank You.
Watching this live was so incredible. I couldn't imagine being there in person.
This was an amazing video. As a brand new player, I am teaching myself by watching UA-cam videos😅 got me a net, and soon will get me a basket. As I seek knowledge of the sport, it is awesome to learn the history of the sport I have fallen head over heals for 😅😅 this was inspiring. I watched Jomezpro tournament Playlists and saw Conrad's shot, and I couldn't believe my eyes. That shot made me fall in love with the sport even more. Thank you!
What a great documentary! I'm so grateful for all of the people who have built this sport and so grateful to the people who have honored them by making this tribute.
What a phenomenal piece of video
My teenager, who never voluntarily shares anything, saw this on his phone and immediately ran over and had to show this to me.
Found the Jomez coverage of the 2019 worlds in my UA-cam recommendations. Had never heard of the sport but was hooked immediately. Have been watching every single tournament Jomez's covered since. I hope disc golf continues to grow worldwide so we have an even more competitive international field of players in the future.
So Legendary and for Conrad to go on and win it in OB was just Epic!
great documentary. this might do to disc golf what jordan did to basketball. love the sport and how it makes you grow so much mentally. help me quit alot of bad habits in life and replace them with good ones.
I’ve seen that clip so many times that I can’t imagine a time when I would want to watch a documentary on it. Maybe one day, when there is absolutely nothing else to do. Maybe.
I had no idea Catrina hit a shot like that at the end. Very cool to see that in context.
great documentary, will show this to my friends to explain why discgolf is awsome!
Disc Golf has so many great champions, but McBeth, Conrad, Pierce, Tattar~ amazing demeanors and representation of the sport.
Fantastic. The Shot. I watched it on UA-cam while at work one day. Just insane.
And the ending quote of "now you wanna talk about what's in my bag?" 😂 Classic
What a great documentary, extremely well done guys.
How does this not have more views? This was amazing, thank you and well done to all involved! Disc golf and its family are an amazing thing. So happy to be here. - A 2020 Covid/Jomez Disc Golf Child. Put me in your stats guy who asked.
The documentary was kinda all over the place to be honest.
Very simple: It's a 1,5 hour youtube video. I've scrolled past it so many times due to not having enough time to watch the whole thing, that I'm amazed youtube still suggested I should watch it.
Great documentary on disc golf. That got me 😢 but man I love this sport. I myself got to experience Worlds23 in Sept.
in Vermont. Seeing Isaac Robinson throw n putt so calm n poise with how huge the crowd is was amazing. Vermont is gorgeous and it’s courses as well as the community. Cold Hollow is a must play, it was my favorite.
Such a great history and a great documentary
"I was happy for James to throw that shot in because it was bigger than the tournament we were playing". Paul is all class. Great player, great sportsman
I was a volunteer there and I remember when FPO finishing thinking, “that was the best finish and can’t be topped.”
Then sitting there on 18 spotting as McBeths tee shot comes in barely inbounds in front of me and Conrad goes OB…that was it. It was over.
Holy Shot! I was wrong!
Conrad didn’t go OB. He landed safely at water’s edge, but then had to lay up.
I started playing in 2018 and on the busiest days of my home course (Oak Grove), I might see maybe a dozen other players total. Nowadays, the course has tons of players by 8am on weekends. I’m happy to see the sport growing so quickly!
This had me crying, what an amazing time
So true, the flight of the disc is so beautiful! I am so glad I got a chance to play Oak Grove. I started in 1981 with a 141, and got a supper puppy a little later. Kenny is still the GOAT. Great documentary.
goosebumps all the way through after covid.
Great documentary but the title of this video should be changed. 3/4 of the video discusses the history of disc golf, with the remainder discussing Worlds 2021
This is an amazing Doc! This is very well put together! and for someone who has watched disc golf grow since 2015. I got to see the BOOM of the sport i love. That worlds will live in infamy! two wonderful shots to give the trailing person the title opportunity! Those shots were the culmination of soo much more than a sport. The timing of everything all these new players watching. it was just meant to be!!
i think i’ve only watched live disc golf once and this was the time!
This was so good!! I love this sport and I will play it until the day I die as well. Its just so great to get out in the open outdoors and enjoy nature and everything around!! Love every moment I have ever played and will play in the future!!
I'm really excited about this, I don't remember such a big moment in any sport. In Spain DiscGolf is a growing sport and I see similarities with the time when the sport was born, I am very happy with what it is becoming and to be part of all this
Disc golf is life. It’s all about the love.
Disc golf. Dose not need Drama! People need to feel the "flight" and immerse them self in theses course we are so privileged to play.
Fantastic.
Amazing documentary. Loved learning more about the history and growth.
GREAT DOC!!! Loved it!!!
Beautiful job TY from France
One of my favorite aspects of James' win/shot was that so many people were questioning whether or not he would still be able to throw as well with MVP. He was always known for those buttery turn overs but with his Aviars. He took those new discs and shut those people while making history at the same time.
MVP got their money’s worth in a hurry. So many people throw Envies now.
