- kalenjin community from the talai clan have defended the special blessings they made on deputy president william ruto, to clear his way to contest for the country’s top seat in 2022. the elders dismissed claims that the dawn ceremony two days ago was some form of withcraft or sorcery, insisting they are grounded on christian faith. the talai elders, are descendants of the legendary nandi leader koitalel samoei, and entrusted with offering blessings and direction to the community. they at the same time said ruto was the bonafide torchbearer for the community in 2022 presidential polls, in what appears to be a subtle message targeted at baringo senator and kanu chairman gideon moi.

The problem with African leadership is that it does not have qualification rules for a posotion
If I had a few billion dollars, I would go to these leaders and I would get my "sambut", complete with smeared "chiego". Because the elevation by these leaders don't specify qualitications, then the persons elevated by them don't qualify for anything. Do these leaders know that the appointee looted the country so as to get his wealth? These elders want us to be ruled by corrupt individuals??. I say that these elders themselves must be corrupt, as such their appointments are a non issue, not substantive and irrelevant.
This kind of activity by our elders is what has held us back in Africa as a whole. We must not let them prevail.

So every ageset is represented in the crowning ceremonies,others as witnesses and others as the presiding group.
