Guy who had to board the tug off the liner was a mate of my dad name was les Poole a reporter with daily Express- was on board the ship when he noticed it was sailing - amazing I spotted him !!
I also seen them on Gramby street when they toured Liverpool in the double decker bus, my grandad lifted me up on his shoulders to kiss Paul Mcartney, I was five! Happy times.
I spent my youth in THE CAVERN CLUB. THE BEATLES used to come to our house in South St, Dingle each Wednesday to practice as my brother Dave was the Elec Organist with Earl Preston so I got to see ALL the Groups of that time, I was born in Dingle in 1947 & have some WONDERFUL memories. Gerry Marsden & Billy Fury lived very close to us & Gerry went to Dingle Vale Sec Modern also my school. Ringo lived in Admiral Grove just 5 mins walk from our house.
There's a new book out, a must buy if you live in or are visiting this great city. 'Secret Liverpool an unusual guide' by Michael Keating. Not your usual run of the mill guide.
