Okay but let’s just acknowledge how far Maya has come with her Spanish fluency like I’m so proud !
Yes!!! 👏🏼 I’m a mom of three and their daddy is gringo. Seeing maya speak Spanish gives me hope. I need to get on my shit and try way harder with my kids to teach them Spanish who are 6, 5 and 2. So proud of maya 💕
Me too!!!
Hey You lol I like your UA-cam name 😂 I think you should try getting a personal tutor or do conversation exchange with a native speaker. As an African-American I always had a love for the language ever since I was young going to the bodegas in my neighborhood escuchando a la salsa/bachata/o merengue en la tiendas. See I can write in Spanglish which is a start but I only took Spanish in high school which I too passed and also joined the Spanish club at my school where I learned just the tip of the iceberg when it came to Latin culture as a whole. Now I’m 29 and have a better grasp on the language due to interactions with native speakers. Even my dating life consists of learning lol, didn’t learn too much from my boyfriend from 🇵🇷 cause he didn’t speak it much but I learned how to bachata and gained a new library of Latin music which helped me substantially gain the Spanish lengua 👅. I had a mentor from 🇨🇴 who taught me salsa and I never looked back lol and now mi novio es mexicano🇲🇽 y brasileño🇧🇷 and the food that he cooks for me.....🤤😋🤤 omg forget about it lol. I also talk more with him more than I did in the past because I actually hired a tutor who was also from Colombia. I learned a little more vocab but the important thing was that I gain more self confidence to speak the language which led me from Philadelphia living with family and friends to Southern California living with Mexicans and Guatemalans 🇬🇹. I currently am picking up a lot of music and vocab from the people of 🇨🇺 since I am learning Casino y Rueda de Casino which is basically salsa cubana and hands down my favorite version of salsa I’ve learned to date 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾. Anyhow as for speaking Spanish It’s hard don’t get me wrong but if you stick with it and be consistent with speaking even if it’s just to yourself in the mirror or in the car it doesn’t matter you’re speaking the language. Once you get over the fear it gets easier and it gets fun. I love going into businesses owned by native speakers of Spanish and surprising them with the knowledge o have acquired simply by immersion and just shear passion, now my Spanish is nowhere near perfect of fluent however the people appreciate my desire to keep learning and talking with them and taking constructive criticism. It can bruise the ego a bit but that’s the learning process. When you have a chance try conversation exchange.com you can literally exchange convo with people of your target all of the world. And because you speak English there will be an endless supply of people who want to talk with you. You can video chat or just WhatsApp but nonetheless you’re learning. Another avenue I would suggest is italki which is a great platform to get one on one training with a personal tutor for reasonable prices. I hope reading my mini book 📖 lol encourages you to keep hope alive and get back in there, the Spanish speaking world needs you and welcomes you, if I can do it, having no family that speaks Spanish of of Latin descent then so can you, BUENA SUERTE 😉 👍🏾!
♥️♥️♥️♥️
Yes !! So true 😃 👏
I'm bilingual but I've been told I speak really slowly by other Spanish speakers.I hid my Spanish for a long time cause of that and leaned more towards speaking English in my day to day. This videos made me feel all sorts of ways about my heritage and to take pride in my ability :). Thanks for making this.
I speak Spanish slowly but I think it's ok cuz I speak English slow too. But I tend to forget some because most people around me only speak English and my bilingual friends sometimes will but I don't get much practice but my reading and writing is good
maybe if non spanish speaking latinx were encouraged to learn the language instead of being shamed and put down for it. there would definitely be a huge difference. too often people are being seen as less or not enough and it’s exhausting!!!!!! it’s ok if you don’t speak spanish!!!!!! it’s never too late to learn!!!!!! you don’t have to speak spanish or be fluent in order to appreciate your heritage!!!!!!!!
idk but curly’s spanish is so good, i forget he’s still learning😭
Viviana Castillo I wish more bilingual people on this country were encouraged to embrace their ability rather than to hide what they know. People become so lost in trying to dominate this land with a single way of life than love watching our many cultures blossom. I think having the ability to speak more than one language is beautiful.
ChelzLovesPeanut hey, nicely said. i completely agree with you. which is why it’s so important for us to fully embrace our differences and cultures. its truly all so beautiful:) especially nowadays, with what america’s currently going through.
Idk but the accent is weird(but that's just my opinion)
Go Guerilla Foto he didn’t grow up fluent though. so no, he isn’t still learning but his spanish is good for someone who learned the language as they got older.
Fr tho! I’m from Guatemala but I was adopted and grew up with white ppl and never knew Spanish until middle school and even then it wasn’t that good as it was Spanish from SPAIN and I never learned actual slang or anything from my friends and they kinda excluded me bcuz I wasn’t a “true Latina”😒
If I end up with a non-spanish speaking man I'm gonna jorobarle la existencia by doing this one day.
Perfecto, así él también aprende un poquito :)
jjaajajaj que buena
Jajajaja
Tip: You can’t think in english and try to translate to speak in spanish, that slows you down. You must think and speak spanish. You must consume the spanish. You must be the spanish in every way.
Ohhh...it's hardest, though, when I'm upset(con mi mami, usually!). Remembering to think in Spanish in the heat of the moment...not easy
@@jitkasuarez So americanized its disgust me
@@rodrigoruiz4452 are you gonna cry about it

OMGGGGG I think I’m going to do something like this at work!! The designer at my work is Peruvian and has only been in the states for about 10 years and the staff at my office gets sooooo frustrated and upset towards him because he doesn’t always understand exactly what they mean and my supervisor and I have been trying to figure out a way to get people to lay off him and be more compassionate. If my supervisor approves it I’m gonna just tell my staff what to do in Spanish all day and see how they feel when I pretend to be mad at them for not understanding what I want them to do. GREAT VIDEO IDEA!!
Zack Munson Excelente idea. Hazlo.
Margarita MilitaryPolice voy a hacer en lunes!!
Never heard Claudia speaking in spanish, i loved it!
Saame
I'm so incredibly proud & full of respect for Maya.
A few years back she was a non spanish speaker in Los angeles who knew only a couple of words in spanish. then, one day she said, I'm going to take spanish lessons and learn the language of my people. Well, look at her now. Shes practically fluent in 2 languages! Keep it up, Pocha concha 💚
I absolutely loved this! Maya, you have improved so much & I am proud. I’m sad that I lost my Spanish growing up because I used to get teased but I’m working to get back on track! I need to just do this and not be ashamed of my level because everyone says I speak it so well but also I get nervous because of the things I dealt with as a child. We’ll all get there! Just keep trying ❤️ 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Im only speaking Spanish with my fiance in an attempt to practice more because I’m in the same boat as Maya. It’s tough but I’m doing it!!!
This video touched my heart
I'm half french and I'm always feeling insecure with speaking French because I'm scared that people might hear my accent and notice some lacking vocabulary....
This showed me that I'm just as French as any other French person and that I can just practice without being scared of judgement
Thank you
I enjoyed this video. Excellent job Maya. You said you wanted o speak spanish more and this video shows your efforts on making yourself better in this aspect. Good on you. I wish I can push myself to do the same as I am learning but I never try to use it in public. This video is a motivator. Well done Pero Like
Ivan challenge en español se dice reto 😂🤣
Lol....I was just saying how every word he spoke was in spanish except the word " challenge". Even I didn't know how to say it in Spanish😝
He also said "so" and that's not Spanish
Omg yes!!! It drove me nuts
Imo, they all did wonderfully with their Spanish, and under-estimated their own abilities. Saludos y bendiciones ❤😊❤
Mario Plushies and Gaming you mean soy bc estoy means I am for temporary things just a friendly reminder
Estoy aprendiendo tambiénnn
I needed this, I grew up not speaking spanish and have always struggled with the language growing up and been told that I’m not Latino, or Latino enough, and that shit always got me. Nice to be reminded that despite me, it doesn’t make me any less of a Puerto Rican-Dominican man.
Eli has me CRYINGG
"Y mi ingles sucks too!" hahah loved it!
I love how even tho Gadiel has been living in LA for years now he still dress like he in NYC. He know where we come from. 🗽🗽🗽
So thank you guys a lot. Saludos desde Chile
Absolutely beautiful! I just back yesterday from being in Central America for a month, I literally went to see the fam and practice my spanish! Que bendición! 🙏🏽
i love so much this video ! it makes me way to much nostalgic i don't have a lot of occasion ton practice my spanish at home. So it was great seeing you speaking, it remind me even of some cultural expressions we used to have when i was little
I love this so much!
Maya your Spanish came a long way... I'm so proud of you❤🥳 I remember the days when you knew "Nada"😉
"No matter what Spanish level you are at, your Latinidad is super valid whether you don't know any Spanish or you are fully bilingual."
This channel is my best friend. You all are awesome.
Maya is sooo beautiful!! 😍😍 Her bangs really make her curly hair beautiful. 😍😍😍😍❤❤
Omg it’s been a while since I watched a PeroLike video but Maya’s Spanish has gotten so GOOD!!!! 😱😱
I really enjoy your videos, and relate so much! My family is from Haiti, but I grew up in Minnesota, so like my Creole is very minimal (but I can understand it very well). This journey that Maya’s been on has inspired me to keep practicing.
Your Spanish is getting so much better, Maya. ¡Aplausos para ti!
Twelve years in the Bronx so Gadiel y Ivan are easiest for me to follow 😂
Yes we need to stop shaming people!!! Spanish is my second language and people (even family) judge the hell out me when I speak Spanish lol
I'm glad you all made this video. Being bilingual gives us such an advantage where ever we go. Sometimes I like you struggle and forget certain phrases in Spanish but I always try to practice and improve. Also if you can speak it, read it, and write it's even better. So I encourage everyone out there to polish their Spanish so that you can be a "double threat" in his case, haha.😊😉
I love pero like
I am fortunate that my first language is Spanish (because it's very difficult to learn it for those who speak other languages) and now I already know English and a bit of other languages. Proud to be latin and Colombian.
Maya's spanish has gotten so good!!!!
Great initiative at the work place. Don't let Spanish die!
Great Video as always. Im not latin but love the language and appreciate videos like this. Great stuff as alwasy!
Out of all of them.. Maya and Curly are like they only ones I got the vibes that they really care about it.
Well and Gadiel and Ivan but they're basically native so it doesn't count.
Maya's spanish has improved so much!! I'm so proudddd
Spanish is my second language, I've been speaking Spanish quite fluently since I was about three years old. My first language, my mother tongue, is Catalan (I was born in Barcelona city), which influences my Spanish quite a lot, I've a strong Catalan accent when I'm speaking Spanish, so don't worry about you accents, everybody has their own. I don't have Spanish accent when I'm speaking English, but I kind of have an odd accent when I'm speaking English, I mean, I think it's quite good and leaning towards American Accent, though, the fact that I speak four romance languages, has influenced my English accent quite a bit.
I currently speak five languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, Italian (after living in Rome a couple of months in 2016) and Portuguese (after living in Lisbon a couple of months in 2018, plus studying one month in a academy prior to the stay this time).
I didn’t know Claudia spoke Spanish
Ik she is Hispanic but I didn’t know she could speak that sweet talk❤️❤️🇵🇷
Spanish is a beautiful language that is spoken in many many places. Not just in Mexico like many ignorant people think.
Half Mexican half Irish. I’m first generation on my moms side ( from Mexico) when I first started dating my husband he asked me if my mom had an accent, that way he’d be prepared and not have to keep asking my mom to repeat herself and didn’t want to come off as rude. I said, “ no accent at all” 🤣🤣🤣 no accent to me because I have heard it all my life and grew up in the San Fernando valley !!! Never once did I think she had an accent till my white boy from Thousand Oaks met her 🤣 I still don’t hear accents from anyone in the valley- all sounds like family to me😊
I feel this so much!!! I grew up in a non latino community/school to working and living in a very white world, while trying to keep my gift of language from my parents alive.
Well said Maya. We should stop shaming each other. I'm still learning. Muchas bendiciones a todo @ Pero Like!
You're Spanish is getting better Maya, congrats!!!
These videos are really entertaining and educational to help us with our Spanish Speaking journey
Dear Maya,
You have come so far! Please continue to do your best! It’s seriously paying off! Just like everyone else in the comments, I’m extremely proud of you! Plus, you really help me push myself in my Spanish studies ^_^
So proud of you, Maya! You've made so much progress 😊 Keep it up!
Maya your ending words where very touching. Great video
This made me want to practice my Spanish! You all did so well, and I loved seeing this perspective
I am from Curacao
Our native language is Papiamento
Our official language is Dutch because we are a colony
But.. we all learn spanish and english in school
So here in Curacao everyone speaks at least four languages
Since we are a multiracial communty, some speak arabic, creole, sranan tongo( Surinamese dialect), chinese.... you name it
Everyone knows about Aruba but Curacao is top!
We have it all!
This super inspired me to be okay with trying to speak Spanish because I take Spanish 202 with mostly spanish speakers and it feels like I’m always being judged 🥺
I haven't watched pero like in so long and Mayas accent is getting so goooood
No, pretendiente means someone that likes you and is trying to start a relationship with you, whereas a crush is someone you like.
I wasn’t blessed to learn Spanish and I only understand a little but hardest critics were my friends or coworkers who sparked Spanish they would say things behind my back and say I’m less Mexican bc I don’t speak Spanish when I’ve always been proud of background and the Mexican traditions my family taught me
Besos Pero Like 😘💐🎉
Iván's & Gadiel Spanish sounds more natural. 😍😍😍😍
Love this video. Proud of you guys.
Im in my second year if spanish in high school and I definitely plan on continuing for my next 2 years as well as in college. Do you guys have any tips or tricks to stay up on my vocabulary so that I can one day be fluent?
I’m native from Mexico and I still have problems with speaking both Spanish and English because I know multiple ancient languages from my ancestors and it’s very hard trying to say words or translate or say anything from other languages to Spanish and then English.
I was born and raised In the states and my Spanish is perfect 👌 no excuses 👋
Maya's Spanish is getting so good!
I'm studying Bilingual Education K-6 at UT Austin and I remember that I felt very confident with my Spanish until I started to actually talk to my cohort and realize that all of our Spanish (except our Peruvian friend) sucked ass.
Why my homie Gadiel looking like someone spill coffee all over his hoodie 😁😁😁
I know very well Spanish and almost very well English, so I am BILINGÜE 🤣🤣❤️
Mayas Spanish is getting better! I really thought curly was going to do better than what he did
Maya! I'm just like you! In fact, it irritates me to this day that I'm not bilingual. My Fiancee and I have talked about how to have our future kids grow up speaking Spanish. One of the ideas we came up with is setting certain days of the week where the house speaks ONLY SPANISH. And we've talked about setting that up as soon as we're married so I can become more fluent. I'm probably 40% to 50%. I'm right there with you!
This video got me feeling worse than duolingo when it wants to talk shit. Shout out to Maya though, her fluency and fluidity has come so far. I wanna catch up to her level!
Yo quiero mudarme de Chicago hasta LA y work with you guys at PERO LIKE!! Taking applications??!
Spanish is my mother tongue and I live in a Spanish speaking country but at work I have to speak English all the time, all emails and documents are in English so I am now a bilingual mess because even I forget words and phrases in both languages, but I am much much much better than I was when I started working on 2011
Lol that’s me every day. Like damn I’m usually translating between employees and managers or customers and employees. At first it was hard but I’m proud to be a bilingual Latina
me encanta el español de Pero Like!!!
Aye bendiga Claudia es bella
Estoy aprendiendo también
El español de maya ha mejorado mucho
ayyyy no puedooooo, que bonito video!!!! me encantó demasiado 🥺❤️🥰
Love the idea but you guys broke the rules! That gift wrapping video, she OBV spoke English. Come oooon!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE This video ❤️❤️❤️🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
¡Divinos todos!
Speaking 2 or more languages is a privilege ❤🇧🇷
This made my Spanish lvl feel so good
Gadiel, ganaste!!
Ivan just... wow.
We the best🤣🤣🥰 Spanish we bond! Lol with an accent and everything lol
Keep at it girl😊♥️♥️
I appreciate this video cuz Spanish is like my 4 language and its hard
This is so funny! My friends did this in Highschool lol
I’m so proud of you guys!!
Maya que lindo escucharte hablando español 💕
