You are a very good teacher indeed. However like most Americans you forget that UA-cam is a universal platform and more people on the planet use metric than imperial (even the UK!) It would add a lot to the usefulness of your videos if you could include metric equivalents of wire sizes etc.

I'll take the liberty to correct a small but important error. First, I like it that he used the expression "mild steel". The reason it is referred to as "mild" steel is that it does not have enough carbon in it for "through hardening". It can be case hardened, but not through hardened. However, the tensile strength of mild steel is 53,000 to 60,000 lbs per square inch of cross sectional area, depending on the particular mill run, not 35,000 lbs. per square inch. He may have gotten it mixed up with cast iron. This info is easily found in a Google search of better yet "Machinery's Handbook".

Thank for such a great presentation about Mig Wires. I bought the ER70S-6 and it didn't work well on my piece of metal, so I was wondering what you could recommend to use on angle carbon steel. Thank you so much for your anticipated response

If what you have is standard a36 mild steel angle then the wire you have is what you need. What size wire, machine settings, and thickness of material?
