Congratulations! What a display of skill and determination. Enjoy the Matrix 6. I still have the one that I bought in 1986. Unfortunately, most of the segments on the display are shot, half the after touch is none functioning and one of the six voices seems to trigger the filter envelope at full velocity no matter how lightly I play. Checked online for parts and at this point, it looks like replacement parts will be difficult, if not impossible, to find. I may have someone look under the hood anyway, to see if fixes are not as complicated as I think. I am not going to be happy parking it in the landfill.
I love it...perhaps my favorite synth right now. I'm hoping eventually to get my hands on an Xpander, but until then this is the closest that I can afford!
Great work - had one of these from a fire damage sale and it had issues different to yours but still took a while to get it there. Having a 2nd working unit to reference is invaluable. And yes the keyboard assembly/disassembly was a royal pita. But I now have two working so can stack or run them in true stereo for that huge Oberheim sound.
Nice work! I just recently reacquired my Oberheim Matrix-6 keyboard and installed all of my old patches on there. I'm running through a Boss Super Chorus CE 300 and a Bigsky reverb unit and my OB-6 is getting a bit jealous. Thanks for this great and informative upload!
Great job, congratulations man :) I just saw pin 5 of an IC is not inside the socket. It's on the very top just right below the display At 3:26 it's clear to see, there you point at it with the screwdriver.. but seems not to harm too much :D Thanks for showing the details!
