    Prescription lenses are also a must haves for people wearing glasses.

      YES YES YES!!!! This should have been number 10! I use them myself, and can't imagine doing VR without them. Great point!

    Regarding short VR experiences, one of my absolute favorites was stepping into the paintings of Van Gogh. It was borderline life-changing and certainly one that I will remember for the rest of my life.

      You know - I remember hearing about that, and I never got to do it! Is it available online for everyone, or was that an IN-PERSON VR event? I feel like maybe it started out as in-person, but maybe was brought online? Also, the MUSEUM OF OTHER REALITIES is pretty cool, but I don't believe that's available for Quest 3 (native) - you would have to play on Quest 3 through PCVR (or with another headset). ART in VR is amazing. Thanks for the comment!

      @@jollyjulian I played my Quest 2 for three years without them. When the got the Quest 3 I tried some cheap normal lenses. And it was so much clearer. Even though I have -1.25 and don’t wear glasses. Ordered Honsvr lenses and they are great with my Q3.

    GET AN INFRARED LIGHT 🚨, do away with bright lights, i can play my quest in the dark because infrared light is naked to the eye, and the quest ises it to track your hands quite well

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  7 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, that is totally doable, and I've played with that a bit as well. The Quest 3 seems to work better in "lower" light than the Quest 2 did, so I haven't had to do the IR thing at all. I did try that outside once, but didn't have a bright enough IR for it to work - but that was with the Quest 2.... Hmmmmm......

    Had one of the best VR experiences last night. I got my Quest 3 about 3 weeks ago but only played some FPS shooters and sword fighting games. But last night I decided to load up big screen beta and join some other people’s servers. Let’s just say if you’re alone in a hotel room, you can easily forget about that and feel like you’re right there chatting up with whoever you’re with

      Oh, yes! I LOVE Bigscreen! I use it every week to host Disney Trivia with a group of people I've met in VR, and I watch movies with friends of mine who live out of state in Bigscreen as well! Such a wonderful experience, and love the variety of theaters and spaces you can view in. Great point!

    Coolest video. I recently bought myself quest 3 and am now waiting for the package to arrive. I find these tips extremely useful, but what really hooked me and made me watch the video twice in a row was the humor. These sketch inserts and cool music in the background really create suck atmosphere. I disagree with comments below. If you want your facts - welcome to chatgpt is any articulate. Emotions and entertainment are obviously part of UA-cam blog.
    I really want AC Nexus, so maybe even skip first contact demo. 😅

      Thank you for the comment - really appreciate it! Had fun creating this one, and no worries about other comments. I can understand where they are coming from. Most of these tips, the DIE-HARD VR players probably know most of them. Really made this particular video more for the people just getting into VR maybe for first time. Thanks again, and have a great new year coming up!

    Have you done a video on your favorite experiences on the Meta Quest 3? I purchased the Meta Quest 3 about a month ago and realized that there are a variety of things you can experience on the Meta Quest 3.

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  4 місяці тому

      Great question, and you've given me an idea for a future video! I do have my favorite experiences for the Quest 3, and would be happy to share them! Some of them are: Walkabout Minigolf (for community and chilling and fun), Asgard's Wrath 2 (for scope and spectacle), Gadgeteer (for puzzle-solving), The "I Expect You To Die" series (great escape-room feel with humor), and Demeo (tabletop gaming with friends or solo). I can think of many more too, but those are the standouts for me so far! Hope that helps! Have you played any of these?

  • @ryanpongracz8051

    IM STRUGGLING, with pcvr games, many lag and are too difficult to run. I ended up RE buying many on quest store because they don't run well on my laptop. I'm already thinking of getting a high end PC so I can play all the pcvr games like no man's sky and Elite dangerous.

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes, PCVR is a challenge as so much depends on all the variables of PC setup. If you're running it on laptop, that is tougher - you need a pretty beefy machine to run VR even half-way well. The plus side is, I'm only running a 2080ti card (which is a couple generations old now), and it works pretty darned well. I would love a 4090 for MS Flight sim, but that will have to wait a bit. No Man's Sky is SO fun in VR - amazing! Elite Dangerous was fun as well - played that very early in my VR playing about 5 or 6 years ago.

    Please recommend first tittle to try. Games the don’t give you motion sickness, but are still actually excited

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  3 місяці тому

      A great question, and some that I can recommend right off the bat: I Expect You To Die (the whole series, but start with #1, and see if you like it!). If you like puzzle games / escape rooms - THE ROOM VR - A DARK MATTER. Fantastic, and shouldn't give you motion sickness. Also, a unique shooter in VR, that doesn't involve you moving in the way you usually do in a shooter - PHANTOM COVERT OPS. You sit in a KAYAK, and are stealthy in what you do! So cool.... These are a few I would start with, if concerned at all about motion sickness. Let me know what you think of them here, or if you want some more suggestion!

    I'm a new user I've only had it on 1 time, inserting lenses ,getting it registered and very clumsily adjusting the head strap.
    I'm a little confused on the IPD setting .My eye prescription has a PD for each eye , 32 & 32.5
    So does that mean I should try to set my quest 3 IPD at 64.5?

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  6 місяців тому

      That's an interesting one about the PD! I've always heard of PD or IPD measured as one measurement from center of one pupil to the center of the other. However, MAYBE they are measuring from center of each pupil to middle of bridge of the nose or something? Not sure on that one! The way I get the IPD right for me is to just experiment with it, moving it slightly, till I find what looks the clearest in the middle of the lenses. With Quest 3, it seems less vital than other headsets because the sweet-spot of the lenses is so wide. Once you get everything "dialed in" and comfortable, this headset is amazing. But getting everything right is worth the time - and will help you love VR for many many hours (and years) to come! Thanks for the comment...

    guys someone can tell me the best experience to start with meta quest 3

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  7 місяців тому

      A couple great suggestions for you (and if enough people request it, I'll do a full video with more options) - Walkabout Mini Golf. I Expect You To Die (1, 2 and 3), The ROOM VR, Demeo. Those are some good games that shouldn't cause any motion discomfort. If you already know you don't feel any discomfort in VR at all, let me know, and I'll throw you a few more options that have more movement in them. But those are all FANTASTIC choices, IMHO!

    The oculus quest 1 best of pcvr than 2 and 3 because oled lenses.

      @shavenmonkiee 7 місяців тому

      It didn't have oled lenses. It had an oled display.

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  7 місяців тому

      Yes, the OLED display was really great for contrast and such. It totally comes down to what each person most values in VR (and sometimes, we don't really know what we value most till we try a number of headsets. Lack of OLED is one of only a very few things I feel the Quest 3 is lacking, but I know that would have made it more expensive, and they wanted to make the best headset they could, and keep it right around $500 for base model. But yes, OLED - very nice for contrast and colors! My first headset - the VIVE PRO - had Oled I believe. The contrast was fantastic!

    • @intermsofreality
      @intermsofreality 7 місяців тому

      I'd take the Quest 3's pancake lenses with LED displays over the Quest 1's fresnel lenses with OLED displays any day. OLED is nice, but not worth having to deal with fresnel lenses again imo.

I opted to make this one more for the new VR players, maybe some who just got a quest 3 recently over holidays. make sure they know some of the stuff we already know, in case they have not seen any other videos on it. Anyway, appreciate the comment, and hopefully you'll give another video of mine a try at some point. Have a good weekend!
