The subtle detail of Lizzy handing the cashier (I see you, Jacob) a Euro note, mistaking it for a dollar note, is so good. It means they've been travelling abroad, spending quality time together vacationing and just loving life with each other. It's so beautiful
Lizzy’s attention to detail and her ability to pull you in to her feelings has been there since her initial instagram posts, her travel blogs. I always felt her intuitive magic…her platform will continue to grow and we will continue to see her innate storytelling. It’s so relatable, she has captured our hearts.
Oh my goodness this is so good! It’s literally three songs in one story. Doomsday is about breaking up with her boyfriend which was at the football field and then erase me is about coping with that break up and at the end she goes to the same field and sees him at the same exact place she saw him last even with the face paint (which I didn’t really understand, if anyone knows please let me know) and then in all my ghost 3 years later she got a new boyfriend but her ex still haunts her as you see it’s the same guy at the end of this music video as the guy in doomsday and erase me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen other artists (besides musicals) make a story like this into multiple songs it’s amazing. I was trying to look for other little details of this story in the music videos but couldn’t find any at the moment. Let me know if you found some.
folklore’s cardigan, august, and betty show different sides to the same story of a love triangle. Check them out it really is something else. And I love that Lizzy incorporated a similar element here!
troye sivan did something similar with his blue neighbourhood trilogy ! if i remember it correctly you follow the story of a boy as he grows up through 3 songs and their music videos
@@lukemills5179 How do you know that all the audience of doomsday will have the opportunity to see the sequels? When you combine lyrical virtuosity with the flawless video production do you think that the potential romanticzing of teen angst and infatuation might lead to the ultimate act of self-harm by that small audience that might fail to distinguish between reality and performance. At a young age parts of the brain are not yet fully developed as had been argued forensically for years in connection with crimes, especially murder, committed by kids. I apologize at directing this stark comment at you. I am not attempting to be disrespectful. Just frustrated by the potential harm that a production like this can accomplish. Certainly, no need for a reply.
This song makes me cry happy tears. It is so so so beautiful and comforting when you find that person who will love you even with all of your “ghosts”. Being someone with a lot of them this song just touches a tender part of my heart and reminds me how happy I am that I found my person :)) thank you Lizzy
if u guys didn’t know, lizzy actually writes about things that happend to her irl and its so cool to see these songs come to life and understand the lyrics in another level
i love how jacob also represents one of her ghosts, being from the previous song - the way he looks at her as she leaves… there’s something there for sure
This is great. It is so easy to make a cliché song with this style but this is not the case. I hear some great musical taste, beautiful story telling, the chords flow and are engaging, the structure is different, it's emotional... It's great :)
I’m literally so honored to be able to say that I’ve been following Lizzy and her music since November 2019. Love this girl with my heart and soul, I’m sure it’s been a roller coaster, but she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves ,and I’m incredibly happy for her ,this only proves how good she is. 💙 love you Lizzy
OH MY GOD ?!!?! SO SO HAPPY TO FINALLY HEAR THE OFFICIAL VERSION OF THE SONG I HAVE LOVED SO MUCH SINCE I HEARD IT ON SOUNDCLOUD !!! This music video is a masterpiece !! Jacob as the cashier, Lizzy's little dancing, the "ghost" outside the store, and the threading in with the doomsday and erase me videos ?!! ahhh **chef's kiss**
Besides the INCREDIBLE music itself, I think why I like Lizzy so much is because she doesn't take cheap shots as a songwriter and artiste. It is easy to have a breakup and write a song just to bitch about your ex (ahhem) but beyond being cathartic, it seems classless and empty. Everyone has experienced romantic heartbreak, but how do we talk or write or sing about it in a way that is artistic and purposeful? But I think what makes Lizzy special is that she manages to capture her particular experience through intensely personal, true-to-life scenes ("we made sangria and failed / i spilled mac and cheese on my pants / and thought about kissing you underneath kitchen lights") while making it relatable to the every(wo)man. It is all at once recounting and storytelling, fact and fiction in the same breath. Can't wait for the album!
this song has me going crazy. SCREAMING, CRYING, SHOUTING, PRETENDING IM PERFORMING THE SONG, PULLING MY HAIR, ROLLING ON THE GROUND AND AGAIN, SCREAMING AND CRYING
I've been on UA-cam for more than a decade now and I never felt the urge to comment on anything until this! This has become one of my all time favourite songs! As a fellow singer-songwriter I hope she makes it big. She deserves it. Greetings from Croatia!
The musical and lyrical beauty of LIzzy's songs are profound, we have a new MAJOR talent here! the production of this video is so superb, the stories, Lizzy's incredibly developed singing style, the harmonies and the dynamics are so nuanced and advanced, how can this come from a 22 year old lady? Lizzy is a phenomenon , God bless her!
I have listened to you on repeat for 2 weeks, I can’t believe I’ve only just found your music! Apple pie and same boat are my absolute favourites!! 😍🙌🏻
I love to see how Lizzy gets more followers day by day. She has always been such a great inspiration for me and it's great to see that others find that out too.
Brilliant song, well written, great production and arrangement. Love how on the 2nd vers you quickly went to pre chorus and maintained the tension. Also, the melody is just superb. Glad I found you my lady.
i remembered listening to the voice memo for the first time and it immediately became the number one song to make imaginary scenarios BUT THIS THIS IS DIFFERENT AND IM HERE FOR IT SUPER OBSESSED
This is my favorite of her new songs. "I knew" was one of the most emotionally influential songs of hers from GMAM and for me personally, this one is like the sequel to that song. It gives me hope that I can find and love someone else someday, and that it's okay to have ghosts. They will go away eventually and be replaced by love. ❤
@@carolinemcadam4312 Omygosh yeah when I was going through all of that (getting over someone lol) and listening to her album a lot, that song probably made me cry the most out of the whole album! And that second chorus really hits you ah 😭 Until you said that, I didn’t even realize the chorus only happens twice! That’s crazy omg
Loved the song, loved the video (the Jacob cameo especially), loving this whole project & can’t wait to listen to your album 10000 times! Wish you all the best this was once again amazingggg :)
I heard this song on the radio yesterday while driving. Had to write it on my hand. Monroe, Louisiana area.. Anyway it's great! I love it! I hope you have many more songs like this one. I am about to check them out :)

Waiting for an appearance in a musical somewhere along the storyline
The LCU is great.
I love the story telling !!!!

Her ex being in the mirror at 1:42 was actually so brilliant. This whole trilogy is such a vibe.

love this sound so much. the electric guitar like bells, the layered vocals soft and thick like gauze or silk

Right? What is this effect? Two lead vocal layers, one panned to the left, one to the right?

You got a Slurpee for free
I caught you lookin' at me in the 7-Eleven
Under fluorescent lights
We walked in comfy silence
Footsteps down familiar sidewalk
Knowing that we were here in our dreams last night
All my ghosts are with me
I know you feel them too
Ridin' shotgun next to your free Slurpee
They know all of my habits, but they don't know about you
I hope that's true
Mmm
Mmm, hmm
We made sangria and failed
I spilled mac and cheese on my pants
And thought about kissing you underneath kitchen lights
Oh, all my ghosts are with me
I know you feel them too
Oh, did you stand there while we were takin' shots of Brandy?
They know all of my habits, but they don't know about you
I hope that's true
I can see it now
The wedding of the year
I can see it now
He stands up there and wipes his tears
I can see it now
And all my ghosts disappear
I can see it crystal clear
You got a Slurpee for free
I caught you lookin' at me in the 7-Eleven
Under fluorescent lights
And all my ghosts were with me
I know you felt them too
Watchin' as I started to get dizzy
'Cause I hate all my habits
But I happen to love you
I hope that's true
