- Bhairava Ashtotthara Shatanama stotra ( hundred and eight names of bhairava) the bhairava stavaraja is from rudrayamala tantra, the hymn is made of hundred and eight names of vatuka bhairava - the one who lifts us up from all kinds of troubles, dangers and calamities.
There are various dangers, troubles and calamities in this world. One can even feel sometimes that the whole life is just a struggle. Until we realize our true self. Atman which is beyond every duality (heat and coldness, brightness and darkness etc.)
We definitely need help and strength in crossing over the samsara (the cycle of birth and death) we surrender to the god in a form which we feel we can connect with easily.
Bhairava is none other than Shiva, he manifested as bhairava the apaduddharana to bless us and guide us through the troubles and dangers and protect us from them and make it easier for us. Human life is very precious as it has everything required to become a seeker and realise the true self which is non dual to supreme absolute god.
So in times of danger, we do our part to protect ourselves from calamities both internally and externally. We pray, we seek help from the higher power. Though our ultimate aim is self-realisation, we simply seek help in handling the worldly situations which forms an obstacle in our quest of highest spiritual truth.
For those who do not have self-realisation as the aim or destination, chanting this hymn will slowly and gradually guide in that path while blessing the worldly needs which are righteous and harmless.
Bhairava not only saves us from dangers but he guides us thoroughly in our spiritual path and leads us to the experience of self-realization, he is our guru, our god our guardian. Because he is the one who grants success for the seekers say the sacred scriptures.
This hymn is very powerful and is found in bhairavopasanadhyaya in the upasana stabhaka which is in dharma skanda of Brihad Jyotisharnava compiled by Harikrishna Vyankatarama. The hymn is also called bhairava stavaraja - the king of hymns of lord bhairava.

Thanks wonderful is there a paperback version of book? Also can you confirm if this sthothram follows dakshinachar or vamachara padhathi? I think to do nyasa should have initiation.

Paperback version.
It's a stotra from rudra Yamaha. The poora and utthara peethika doesn't have reference to 5 Ms so it's used by both kinds of sadhakas. According to their traditions. Yes you may require deeksha for mantra and nyasa . But you can chant the stotra and do dhyana without deeksha. . Thank you for your interest.
Hi sir,i have purchased this book,i am getting few doubts, how shall i connect you to clarify the doubts
yes sir , my instagram is authorkoushik
Hi bro you did good work but mantra decoded at 11:10 doesnot have om at end it ends with hreem but at 51:20 you manetioned mantra mentioned by siva as ending with hreem om again.
Did I miss something here? Or is there any mistake?
sorry sir, i should have clarified, according to the mantroddhara given with this stotra there is no om in the end, but due to samputeekarana rule (since it starts with om hreem so om is also added to the end in certain traditions, following that I had chanted the one I follow, but when i was decoding word by word i decoded as per the mantroddhara shloka,
Such a wonderful explanation sir. Thank you so much. Is there an email address to contact you for some clarifications. Much appreciated

This is said to be from rudrayamala tantra which is only available in fragments. The source of this recition is bhairavopasanadhyaya a sanskrit text ( available from khemraj)
@@authorkoushikthank you very much
Thank you so much....one doubt whether Vam is there in the Manthra? I think you have not mentioned the same in the Manthra.
Kindly advice
There is a variation of mantra which has vam , but in this stotra's mantroddhaara , there is no mention of vam in the mantra.
@@authorkoushik Thank you so much Sir, I have started chanting the Mantra as per ur description....I got the same through ur channel at the apt time.
@@authorkoushik i have a small question in variation some chant bam beeja which is shiva beeja some chant vam beeja which is correct one??or both is correct?,
@@mgmanoj1997 with reference to this vatuka mantra i have seen वं beeja more in mantra shastra works,
@@mgmanoj1997 you can also skip the vam beeja and just chant om hreem vatukaaya... vatukaaya hreem as this stotras mantroddhara doesnt contain the vam beeja explicitly
If Ultimate aim is Self realization, what about knowing God
In the POV of Advaita and kashmir shaivism ( where bhairava upasana is important) . Bhairava ( god) is non dual to self.
Self is not body , mind or Even the individual consciousness but the awareness that is all pervasive and universal ( the atman) .
Abhinava gupta also says " tvam cha mahesha sadaiva mama aatmaa' - you are the awareness , the self O mahesha .
So realizing God in us and everything else is realizing self.
Thank you for the wonderful question
Also in this stotra itself there is a name bhootaatnaa -bhairava is the Atman ( self , consciousness or awareness ) of all the living beings .
Hence we have phrases like shivoham in our tradition.
And in vedanta we have sentences like aham brahmaasmi ( I am that Supreme reality)
@shakthipradeep3558
In simple words realizing true nature of the self is realizing that self has no separate existence from God so in non dualistic point of you self realization and God realization is one amd the same. Because everything is a mere expansion of God ( or reflection of God ) like waves and the ocean. Wave ceases to exist without the ocean. Cause and effect relationship.
Excellent work for the benefit of sanatana dharma followers. Your explanations are excellent.

How many times can I chant the mantra and shatavarja?
@@Mr.Chandrashekar for attaining different desires, we can't it for specific number of times ( I think it has been explained in the video after the pyala shruti)
Generally you can chant the stotra once a day , or twice a day , or three times a day. Daily
@@authorkoushik thank u sir,
Plz dont mind sir. One last question, can I chant moola mantra daily 108 times
@@Mr.Chandrashekar yes it is prescribed to be chanted 108 times before chanting the stotra in the vidhaana. As mentioned in the video ( traditional scholars do recommend initiation)
How do I get in touch with you kushik. Can you tutor me on these mantras pls.
I would suggest you to learn from the video as personal tutoring will not ne possible. You can email me. I will send you the text. Do you read devanagari script? May i know Which script are you comfortable with?
