      Deandre Hopkins 4.57 too. It was the same way back in the day, Jerry Rice, Cris Carter, Michael Irvin, Herman moore. The 4 best receivers were the 4 that timed the slowest.

      Deion Sanders and Darrell Green are the only two guys that ever caught Jerry from behind. Rice might not have had a 5th gear but he didn't have a 1st or 2nd gear either. He was always at full speed, he never seemed to down shift.

    What’s crazy is DK could’ve gotten a faster time strictly with his form. He stood straight up rather than bursted out, which is hard to do when you don’t have blocks but still possible. That’s scary speed.

He definitely could pull a faster time if he can get a better first step. Any sprinter or coach will confirm, the first few steps are truly the most important.

      @@swappedoutZ71 I think it's a bit different for 40 yard because you don't have enough time to slowly accelerate to top speed. You need to unload the tank quickly even if it means not running as fast as possible.

    If you look at the first 3 steps of all of them, some guys didn’t understand that those first steps is what separates a 4.5 guy from a 4.3 guy (which is why in game field speed is different from straight line speed). You have to explode out and you want your first step to not be under you, but about AT LEAST 3 yards out from the line. You basically need to leap out of your stance instead of simply running out of your stance. While making sure to still keep your stature low and your feet moving

    I love the 40 yard dash that they do every year but people who aren't smart don't realize that there isn't that much of a difference between 4.5 and 4.4 there's little difference between 4.3 and 4.4 and so on and so on. In a game you have to account for a lot of other things when it comes to receiver speed as well. Fatigue Technique and assignment can take away from a receivers and DB's speed. On top of that for a receiver long speed is important but for the most part receivers don't use long speed that much they have to use techniques to get open.

      Like with all sports, there are hundreds of factors that contribute to a good player. There are 100+mph pitchers that can’t win. There are 7 ft tall basketball players that suck. There are incredibly skilled hockey players that never make it.
