That's a Persian cat for you. I have a Himalayan and oh my goodness. Most extremely gentle and sweetest thing. Their bodies feel extremely gentle and relaxed. He loves to be groomed. So much fur I guess he thinks he's being pet instead.
Jowariya Khan Doll Face are traditional Persians. They are not really like the Himalayan and ultra standard Persian I am talking about that the ACFA goes by. The AFCA doesn't even really recognize dollface, traditional as well as they do the really ultra types which are now standard hun. Even though they are Persians they don't have the sweet temper like the standard ultra does. This is why the ultra (peke) is extremely way more popular especially with the ACFA

I groom in a very urban area (nyc) where 99.9% of the cats are indoor cats so they are not getting flea/tick products on their coat. Even these cats can be bathed either before administering the product or several days later. The degreaser I use is very gentle and organic; it doesn't harm their skin or coat. Cats mat because of the oils in their coat and undercoat; those 2 things create knots which turn into mats.Email 4 more info.

Persians are really quiet cat and kinda slow, this is good thing I like about them 'cause it makes everything easier when you give them a bath.

For cat grooming, you need to use a clipper with a lot of torque (powerful clippers). I use the Andis Excel which is lightweight and pretty quiet. The Wahl Super Blade or Storm is excellent too, though quite a bit noisier from what I have heard from other cat groomers. A cat's skin is quite thin and can tear easily if you don't know what you are doing with the clippers. I always caution owners who want to shave their own cats. Good luck!
Should I get my 18 year old cat groomed? For the first time? I figure she's so old. She deserves to be pampered.
best cats on the planet the got faces so dopey but funny at the same time and also grumpy makes me laugh all the time.
I have had some pretty good luck with cats! Only one or two of the ones I have groomed have had a good solid meltdown or have gotten aggressive with me. It's nice to see owners bring their high-maintenance cats in as kittens knowing it's going to be a lot of work.

Dear Pet Maven, thank for the video, 17 dislikes, what's wrong with you people? I have a Lilac point Himy, she is compliant, thank goodness. Usually get umbrella cut. Groomer says if she cuts the long hair off it will not grow back. She is beautiful, but it's a chore for her to self groom sometimes, What do you think about the hair comment, I would like to see her in a teddy bear cut. Johnnie

What a good boy! My 11 year old Zot has fought me like I am trying to drown her and screams like a banshee just trying to groom her. I was using a slicker brush, but it is hard to groom a cat that is fighting you as you are trying to clean the brush out. What would you recommend in this situation?

Great video, Thank you! He looked so good and your clip was very neat. I have been taught that to avoid products that strip oil from cat skin/fur. This is especially as they have such a thin epidermis dermis layer leaving them vulnerable to infection but also, many flea/worming control products can be stripped from the skin before they are absorbed... please explain the benefit of removing oil from cat skin!!

That's what a lot of clients say, but if start them when they are young and get them on a regular grooming schedule the cat does get use to the whole process. Benji has been groomed regularly since he was a kitten. And generally Persian cats have good temperaments.
My cat will never be that calm.

I just added a persian, 12 weeks old, to our family. Her first bath....she hated it. she is normally loving, but was trying to scratch me and by the end bit me. Any tips? And how long usually before they tolerate a bath?
I was wondering what brand of hair clippers do you think is the quietest one. My long haired cat loves to be brushed but not sure if I can get her to let me use clippers to shave her so I want to get one she might tolerate thank you I liked your video very much.

It depends if your Petco has a competent cat groomer on staff. Cat grooming is very different than dog grooming. And, the mat removal is different. You'll have to research your Petco or other local grooming shop on their cat grooming expertise.
I have an Exotic that I get shaved with sedation. He is the sweetest until it comes to getting his nails clipped and getting shaved or combed. What brand of clipper are you using? The cat you are shaving is a sweetheart !
I don't know if someone has asked already but what do you do if the cat is afraid of the dryer? I know my two long haired cats are terrified of the vacuum.

we got our persian from the SPCA so he is slightly less patient with grooming. we usually get his hair shaved about every 6 months but the woman who does it moved away and i was considering doing it myself. what kind of buzzer do you use? and what brand of shampoo/degreaser? are there any tips to get the cat to stay still?

Lila Dykstra Depends on the cat and type of coat. I believe I used a #2 comb guard over a #30 blade, but he was on the shorter side to begin with. Sometimes you need a #4 comb guard. Experiment a little bit since some cats are silkier and some are woolier.

i know i'm a bit late to the party but do you have any instructions or tips for people who do not want to trim their persian? i like the natural coat of my cat (though i still trim the fluff on her bum)
my cat is somewhere between shy and compliant.
I have a 1yr old male maine coon. He is on the aggressive side. He has not been neutured yet, so I imagine that hormones are contributing to his aggression. I need to have him groomed but am afraid for the groomer(LOL). He has mating on the back of both legs and the base of his tail. How does the process work for this? BTW, he hates vacuums, not fond of water and this will be his first time grooming.

What do you call that particular style?
It depends on what you mean by aggressive and specifically what you are doing that creates the behavior. What is the cat doing? Is the cat a rescue or have you had it it's entire life? Most Persian cats are quite sweet and easy to groom. Certainly if you get the cat use to being groomed when it is young it will be easier. Some cats get annoyed quickly so you'll need to break to break up the grooming sessions into small segments. Have you tried a professional cat groomer?
I just got a persian 3 days ago, he is four months. I can tell the breeder didnt take care of him. She brought him with poop on his hair and he smelled nasty. We gave him a bath and he was so well behaved even with the blow dryer but he has knots like crazy and close to his skin, i have to get him professionally groomed.
