I respectfully disagree. Personally, I feel like it was rushed, and some of the riffs sound like they were recycled from unused .5:TGC songs. For context, I greatly disliked .5:THC.
It's not a bad song. But, imo, it's nowhere close to being one of their best.
Surprise
Nik really made me notice and appreciate the work in the chorus, it's beautiful stuff. That's what I love about these covers, I'm able to isolate and appreciate certain awesome riffs/parts that somehow flew over my head in the actual song.
It's a mix of all eras of Slipknot in one song which I was down for hearing it for the first time
Although the song isn’t particularly mind-blowing, it’s still full of juicy riffs

Yeah riffs are solid, heavy vibes are great, but I think as a song it’s just not their best writing

This is actually in my top 10 slipknot songs, it's so great
while this isnt the most incredible track from slipknot, it gives me a bit more old school vibes, as opposed to their most recent album.
Which could a problem. You wanna move forward not backwards they aren't moody 20 year olds barely making it anymore. They are grown men with successful careers. This song is incredible imo because it's relevant to the current world and things going on with it.

I don't know what it is about this song, maybe it's the way it's structured but I'm still unsure about it. I watched them perform it live at Knotfest and it grew on me... only a little.
I have the exact same reaction. I like it a little more after yesterday, but like you said, the structure is weird. I like everything happening, but not as a “song”. I really do think it’s growing on me though

Honestly, I don't get all these comments about "this reminds me of their self-titled album." Except for part of the intro using some scratches similar to the intro to Eyeless, there is literally _NOTHING_ about this song that seems like early Roadrunner era Slipknot.
The odd pacing reminds me of All Hope Is Gone. Half of the riffs sound like they were written for The Gray Chapter, and the others don't even sound like Slipknot.
Don't get me wrong. I don't hate the song. But, the whole thing sounds like they just mashed a bunch of random, unused riffs from The Gray Chapter with a couple of poorly thought out new ones, then Corey put some anti-social media lyrics on top of it, and called it a song.
Truthfully, while I don't dislike this song as much as some people, I wouldn't be upset if this song ends up being like Don't Get Close and All Out Life. As a teaser/taste and not ending up on the finished album.
