The shouting in the chorus of the Norwegian entry is actually traditional "Cow calling" or herd calling, used throughout the times to make your cows come back to the farm after being in the fields. Also, Gåte has been a known band in Norway for a long time, so when they swing their guitars around I think its kind of to protest the forced playback of the instruments. Kind of what Nivada did on MTV that one time.
I'm pretty sure that for the majority of their performance everyone was playing as if they were playing live for real. If you go look at video clips of other shows of their, you can see that at least the one guitarist usually goes that hard swinging his guitar around at their usual shows where they do play live. And if you really pay attention to their performance at Eurovision, you can see that they're actually playing and that the swings or that one moment that the bassist twirls his bass around him, wouldn't interfere with them actually playing the music. The one moment that what you say could be true, is where the guitarist at the end throws his guitar really high in the air while you're still hearing the riffs playing, that could indeed been a sort of protest against the forced playback.

I have been watching the Eurovision Song Contest since the earl y 1970s and to be honest as I am from the punk / hardcore / post-hardcore generation I have viewed it as an ethnographic study of a exotic tribe. It is interesting to see what countries think will win at Eurovision Song Contest Personally I like the audience member videos of the 3 minute performances from the arena to compare with official TV version and this year Baby Lasagna's was a concert like performance and the crowd responded. BTW Baby Lasagna (Marko Purišić) was until last year the guitarist in a Croatian folk metal band called Manntra - who had produced seven albums (?) I did a word analysis of the song and it has a total of 433 words made up of 59 separate unique words of which six "rim", "tim", "tagi", "digi" "woah" and "dim" represented about half the total word count.
Did not watch Eurovision... But I did watch Lord of the Lost the day before the EV event, in Malmö with their own Eurovision special concert. Was a complete banger of an evening. 🤘🥳🤣
How cool of you doing a video to the ESC! 🦝🤘🏿Croatia‘s Baby Lasagna favourite this year, sadly due to f*cked up voting system the public got robbed again but hey, we secretly know the "special“/ non mainstream people the last years landed on place 2. XD Greets From Germany!
While Windows95man turned out to kind of fun, another Finnish candidate Cyan Kicks was pretty much straight up metalcore. Of a soft, poppy kind, but still.
I actually saw Cyan Kicks live once with another rock band that was popular because of Eurovision (national finals) and they slap WAY harder live. Studio versions were ok I guess, also they got screwed over by camera work in that national final
If you liked the Gåte song, check out their song "svarteboka" with the vocalist from Djerv, Agnete Kjølsrud! Absolute banger and goes a bit harder than this one they entered with

Bambie Thug was fuckin sick, song gets even better with every listen. Insane performance.
No
Gåte is actually a quite established band in the Norwegian folk rock/metal scene. Their discography spans a wide range of cool sounds, although I personally prefer their post-hiatus material. Definitely worth checking out for really any rock/metal fan.
Note that the "å" in the band name is not pronounced like the letter "a". If you're curious, google can provide an example :P
"å" is basically pronounced like how one would say "oh"
Nope Nik, you don't hear Rammstein, you hear "Party in my head" by Pain
One day Nik will discover Günther and Cascada and the Eurodance genre, and understand that Electric Callboy is just Günther with guitar lol.
Fun Fact: Marco (Baby Lasagna vocalist) is a former guitarist of croatian band Manntra. Check their song "In The Shadows", it's metal af.
I'm so proud of our cork gem Bambie Thug.
Greetings from Finland ! I always love to watch those wonderful performances.
Please make metal version of Windows95 Man - No Rules. We need it. pls
Nik, if you do, remember to dress accordingly.
Just saying, the chorus from Baby Lasagna is "Party In My Head" by Pain
My favorite from Eurovision is still Hungary back in like 2017 or 18, when they sent a metalcore band (AWS). They were awesome.
Singer is sadly not with us anymore :( 🕊️🖤 (passed away due to leukaemia)
@@JustK4Y1512 Yeah, I heard about that. Really sad, I listened to a few of their songs afterwards and I really enjoyed them.
@@JustK4Y1512 what????😮😔😕that is so sad to hear. I remember that song. It was on Hungurian native languge, but i watched some videos whit the traslation of the lyrics, and that song was about the pain of loosing his dad. Oh that so sad...such a young guy😞😓
"Viszlát Nyár" still my favorite Eurovision song ever
They got invited to perform at Wacken the same year.
Bambie Thug's entry was co-written by Sam Matlock from Wargasm
Thanks for covering Eurovision, I love hearing your opinion on it
The backstory on the dutch song is that its about europe using european music genres and dutch music genres influences, it was basically perfect. and as far as we know now he didnt do anything at all backstage and was bascially DQ'ed for no reason
The song from Croatia is just if Rammstein made 'Party in my head' from Pain
I'm so happy to finally see someone else saying this! I thought I was going crazy hearing that because when I posted it on twitter people were just like "no it sounds nothing alike"
And both, Rammstein and Pain heard Rim tim tagi dim, and liked it very much.
Fun fact: Pain doesn’t even give a tiny f*ck that the chorus just sounds the same in the first 2 seconds, they even joked about it on TikTok
@@JustK4Y1512 that's pretty awesome
This! This is what I said as soon as I heard it
YES FINALLY
Funny and important fact: Irelands song was written by Sam from Wargasm and Casyette, which gives this alternative metal vibe to the song
Bambie also has a few heavy-ish song by themselves, so I’m not surprised they went along with this. Track absolutely slaps, CROWN THE WITCH 👑🖤
I'm surprised Nik didn't like it more
@@dansken610yeah, probably just a bit confusing on the first watch. Also, the story behind it made me respect that entry even more so yeah
Painting the superbowl as the biggest sports competition in the world is wiiild, it's not even top 5
It’s one of the biggest matches in the world but yeah definitely not even top 5 biggest competitions
Glad to see nik talking about Eurovision, and glad to see I'm not the only one comparing Croatia to Rammstein
Nik talking about Joost Klein is something I would never seen coming:) the last part of the song goes pretty hard
Meow cat please meow back!!!🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
Meow 🐈⬛
Love that you cover Eurovision. Even if it's not heavy enough for me, the shits just crazy fun and worth watching. The fun gives me a catharsis feel like metal.
This year was wild indeed! Tbh, it has been bat poop bonkers for as long as I can remember, but this year was...unusual? 👀
Was personally rooting for Baby Lasagna (after Joost was barred), but Switzerland's Nemo has heaps of talent and a deserved win. Amidst all the politics, a win for Switzerland is some top-notch irony as well 😋
Still waiting on Electric Callboy in Eurovision, make it happen!!! 🥳
Kaarija actually said he based his song cha cha cha off of rammstein's tattoo :)
I WAS WAITING ON THIS VIDEO (Corekid and Eurovision fan)
Bambie Thug was phenomenal. I want her to collab with Poppy.
True and it's definitely not completely out there to happen.
My favourite performance this year. Ngl that collab would be insane
*them, but yeah
Absolute garbage entry.
She was insufferably narcissistic
Btw, electric callboy, applied for ESC in Germany (i think 2022?), but the NDR (who decides who goes to ESC for Germany) Said No. There were an online petition where the whole fanbase voted, but it didnt work...
Joost from the Netherlands wrote the song in a memorial to both his parents who he lost. The lady he attacked was apparantly asking a lot of questions regarding his parents even though he told her multiple times he didn't wanna answer anything regarding them. She kept on asking thing related to them to the point he snapped
You should check out San Marino, they didn't get to the final but were pretty badass !
Megara’s song that they tried in the Spanish national final last year was sick as well, I’d say that’s even clear over this year’s entry…….
I had them in my top 10. Such an uderrated performance.
@@mQnstera sameeeeeee
I have been watching the Eurovision Song Contest since the earl y 1970s
and to be honest as I am from the punk / hardcore / post-hardcore generation
I have viewed it as an ethnographic study of a exotic tribe.
It is interesting to see what countries think will win at Eurovision Song Contest
Personally I like the audience member videos of the 3 minute performances
from the arena to compare with official TV version
and this year Baby Lasagna's was a concert like performance and the crowd responded.
BTW Baby Lasagna (Marko Purišić) was until last year the guitarist in a Croatian folk metal band
called Manntra - who had produced seven albums (?)
I did a word analysis of the song and it has a total of 433 words
made up of 59 separate unique words
of which six
"rim", "tim", "tagi", "digi" "woah" and "dim"
represented about half the total word count.
They did Joost dirty asf
Fun fact: bambie thugs song was co-written by Sam Matlock from Wargasm
Justice for Joost Klein, disqualified by false aquesation
We do FUN EUROVISION THINGS HERE!!!!!
Did not watch Eurovision... But I did watch Lord of the Lost the day before the EV event, in Malmö with their own Eurovision special concert. Was a complete banger of an evening. 🤘🥳🤣
Btw, Czechia who got stuck in their semi-final also had a rock adjacent song.
How cool of you doing a video to the ESC! 🦝🤘🏿Croatia‘s Baby Lasagna favourite this year, sadly due to f*cked up voting system the public got robbed again but hey, we secretly know the "special“/ non mainstream people the last years landed on place 2. Ireland‘s („gothic spiritual metal“) act kinda got me hooked, gave a bit of "Zeal & Ardor“ vibes in my pov, with that chilled/ poppy lyric parts and then going straight to darkest screaming like in mid of ("satanic") bm gathering. XD
Greets From Germany!
Gåte is a great band. Their collab with Djerv "Svarteboka" is METAL
IMO their song just wasn't great. It sounded like a generic rock song from 2005 (the only thing about it that didn't sound dated was the breakdown).
Megara for San Marino was great too! Rock-ish!
Bambie Thug was amazing. Crazy performance with demons and pentagrams. Go Ireland. Crown the Witch. 😂
If you liked the Gåte song, check out their song "svarteboka" with the vocalist from Djerv, Agnete Kjølsrud! Absolute banger and goes a bit harder than this one they entered with
the swiss guy actually goated, amazing song🇨🇭
(just FYI Nemo is non-binary, idk if they're fine with getting called a guy but insane singing for sure)
@@SwainixFPV i am still not used to call these people correctly, damn🫠
@@FIash911 no worries, I didn't hear Nik make any reference to the fact they are enby so it makes sense that people would default to calling him a guy
Croatia chorus straight up from "Altes fieber" by "Die Toten Hosen"
The chorus in Rim Tim Tagi Dim sounds exactly like the chorus in Party In My Head by PAIN
So Bambi Thug, Irelands entrant is actually playing Mainstage at Download the Saturday morning this year! Lord of the lost are also at Download!!!
Bambie Thug came 6th overall, 6th in the televotes and 6th in the jury votes = 🔥🔥🔥666 🔥🔥🔥
Always loved Gåte❤ And Finland never disappoints. I love the Bambie song. :)
you need to see the metal version of europapa it slamss🤘
HEHEHE Proud European here :)
I loved Norway's entry! CANNOT BELIEVE IT GOT LAST!
Still haven't forgiven Eurovision for not giving SunStroke Project the win back in 2010.
Satellite is a bop
Electric Callboy have actually gone for Eurovision before (with Pump It lol) but the German qualifications are always super competitive.
Been saying for yeeeeeeeears that they need to get on that stage.
As a swede, this is the worst part of the year.. need to have tv turned off and radio for a month or more
Send Amon Amarth
Baby Lasagna chorus is defo inspired by Pain ! Peter Tagtegren from pain even did a joke story where he was eating lasagna while listening to the song and paused at the chorus because it's very similar to Party In my Head song of theirs.
You should check out We Could be the Same by maNga. It was in 2010 competition
Nice that you make a vid of this topic. I live in Sweden and watch it every year of course.
About the playing of instruments, it is quite some years ago they took that posibility away and forbid all live music it has to be recorded how ever they have to sing live. I also liked Croatia the best! 🤘
Like your channel - keep up the god work 😃👍
