I love the reactions when prudence said she was going to throw the orb baby. Jonny was in a state of pure shock, Egbert looked overjoyed, and dob just started dancing
Egbert could've totally handled the trials on his own (albeit with some damage), but I love how Johnny knows the group well enough to know that most of the rest of the Oxventurers would have a jolly ol' time forcing him to cheat anyway, thus avoiding the issue of 'one character does all the things while the rest sit around bored'. Third watch of this one, just wanted to help beef up the comments section!
One of the reasons I love them so much! There's a time and a place for being a rigid DM, but sometimes it's much more entertaining to allow the goofy ideas this group comes up with.
58:50 Was listening to the Spotify version of this and suddenly noticed that the griffin Corazon rides is named Percy, 2~3 years before he named his own griffin Percy Jr. After himself, and thought it was a neat coincidence
Actually, I'm pretty sure they noticed, they just ignored it. The same way that I would ignore my dad's slightly perverted jokes. I got them... I didn't WANT them, but I got them. So I ignored them.
I've realised that based on the rules for the tournament, the other Oxventurers didn't need to disrupt the performances of the other paladins; they only needed to help Eggbert's performances. They needlessly ruined a couple of paladins' performances, like the one Dob soiled with prestidigitation.
Maybe? Egbert did say that the pass rate was about 50%, and a lot of these contests seem to pit 2 people against each other. If you get beaten in jousting it's hard to see how that's passing for instance.
Am I the only one who’s disappointed that Stan wasn’t mentioned in the Orbpocalypse saga? I feel like them having to fight an amped up version of him would’ve been a fitting consequence. Or at least if it was shown that the Chicken guy absorbed his power. Then again.... maybe that’s where Prudence’s Barbarian Powers came form. Maybe the chicken guy could only swap powers not take them?
I feel like I’m very up on my Britishisms after having listened to all of these folks for years but every once in a while they pull something out like “candy floss” that I have to put serious thought into to figure out
When I run things like that, I don't always have an official plan. I have a goal (give pamplet), a person (murderous yet kindly old woman) and a problem (vaporising). The solution is up to my players. I learned long ago not to try and predict them.

It's clear that Mike's video and audio is a little out of sync, since he responds early. It's very noticable at 16:23. It does have the benefit of making him look unnaturally quick witted and alert though. I haven't watched the rest of the series yet, but I hope they upgrade everyone's set-up. Maybe record their camera POV on each computer instead of capturing what I assume is the live Zoom call. Johnny seemed to be fine, but Luke was very far behind - Andy and Jane were delayed too.
When Dob was contemplating how to knock out the opposition for the jousting portion and Corazon said to use the "sleep ray", it looked like Dob was thinking more along the lines of the Gruncle Stan quote (Gravity Falls): "Just bonk 'em on the head. It's nature's snooze button."
After many listens it just dawned on me that Oxventure is Pokemon, only Corazon doesn't have a pokemon. Dob has the 60 skeletons and a flaming skull, Prudence has Frisky and The Darkness, Egbert has Seal Gaiman, and Merilwen has her animal forms. They walk from place to place taking part in adventures. Just like the original Pokemon season (Kanto). (Edit: I forgot Corazons "pokemon" would be mage hand)
ikr lol Beginning of lockdown their set up was pretty s**t considering their careers, glad they fixed it. So chuffed they kept the adventures going for us all going nuts sitting at home after work with nowt to do.
Mike's feed is the clearest because I assume he was hosting the livestream. They would eventually do adventures where they still participate remotely, but it was not live and so they could edit the full-resolution video captured in the session. Which is one reason why most late-pandemic episodes look better.
I personally suspect that the horses were never for riding. If you have read the section on gryphons/griffins in the Monsterous Manual (I forget which version), it says that they favor horse flesh. It was very kind of Johnny not to mention the true purpose of the horses to Ellen though. 🫶

Looks like they put it on a new channel. All the more reason to rewatch the whole series
On a binge from the start as we speak! 😁 It's gonna take a while though lol
Binge watcher here too!
Same here. I love to put these vids on the background while I draw, it's the perfect accompaniment for my hard-to-focus-on-one-thing brain.
I've already watched all the episodes. But no I agree, it's fun to rewatch them all!!
I missed everything around like after Christmas. So I'm watching from Vex the Warlock.
I like that Johnny's frame is slightly larger than the rest. I guess they need the extra room, seeing how they're everyone else in the world.
Johhny is such an amazing DM. They love the original ideas of the group (cos theyre are hilarious) and don't just shut them down. Awesome work.

I'll never get over that absolutely masterful final pamphleting performance.
Dob just randomly deciding that no matter what happens they are going to need a ramp
Just like in another adventure, Dob *insists* he must pop out of a cake.
and they did need one
Love Merilwen's reaction everytime Albright speaks. The look of disgust is palpable.

Someone needs to add Cedric Albright as another potential future enemy for the guild.
Perhaps he becomes a bee-themed Paladin?

Rewatching this and it’s even more hilarious and delightful with age. 😂
_checks “be thanked by the Oxventure team” off my bucket list_
Still need to be thanked by Johnny, though.
I was VERY surprised to hear both my first and last name lol
Same!

"Candy Floss" is the same as "Cotton Candy". Just for those who don't know.
Scoops Mackenzie is still one of my favourite Corazon alter egos! 😂
"Pirate rogue, legend of legend" 🤣
I love the BraveStarr song reference with Corazon's mage hand.
I really wonder what the official plan was for the "old lady" at the end of the obstacle course was - though I absolutely love how Egbert handled it.

ellen's spike growth was more dangerous that they made it, it was 20ft radius not diameter. So she would have had 40 ft the grind that minotaur down

Awww I want an Egbert flag!
I would actually love as merch a poster of one of Egbert's pamphlets xD

Grease
Corazon's Pokemon is his mage hand
And now he‘s got Percy Junior
Corazon gets a new "Pokemon" later on. A gryphon hatchling that he dubs Percy Jr., and he keeps the ship VERY rat free.
Oh god. Rewatching this series and seeing all these Zoom call boxes pop up was really upsetting.

Is Johnny mimicking Murgo the trader from Fable 2?
Somehow, the bad mic quality has become nostalgic
What’s the music that plays through all of this episode?
I’m trying to figure this out too. The music during the minotaur fight sounds so familiar.
pretty sure it's from the game "slay the spire"

and Johnny recently completed a readthrough of the manuels during Season 2, so its very likely they picked up on this little detail.
