Simple, practical use of an iPad. As a senior that is very computer literate, since I have been using them prolifically since the 80s, I watch a bunch of videos surveying computers and other tech equipment. I no longer need most of these devices but still love tech and depend on and use mostly Apple devices. The iPad is the core of what I use. That being said…many videos are much more detail crazy and seem to be geared to influencers, graphic designers, and video editors….along with code writers. Your videos are eminently more useable. I usually catch an idea or two on them and I really appreciate that. Thanks…keep ‘em coming!
Wow! Thanks so much for the kind words. You're part of a large cast of viewers that are probably a lot smarter than I am at using the iPhone and iPad but still find time to write an encouraging word. Means a lot.
All those apps are brilliantly designed. You can also use reminders with location based triggers so you can be reminded on cue and at/on a specific location.
Rich, You do a great job! Do you know that you can press on a file drag and drop it into a different folder or to a different drive. So easy and makes the file manager so useful and easy. Perhaps create a video highlighting this feature. I find so many people do not know about it.
This was such a wonderful summary and reminder of the robust availability of resources on just a few essential apps. Your introduction of the PARA system absolutely revolutionized my Notes/Reminders experience. Many thanks again for the effort you take to provide such meaningful information which enhances so many aspects of our lives.
I greatly appreciate your videos, and the focus on processes (using the apps) as opposed to technical specs. A feature I am looking for, specifically in Apple Notes for iPadOS, is a date & time stamp. I recall such a feature in Microsoft Outlook many years ago. Do you have any idea if such a feature exists? Thanks for your help, and the quality videos.
Apple Notes automatically creates a date timestamp for each note. But I don't think it adds a time-of-day stamp. You can sort by the date the note was created. Hope this helps!
Very good video that I am going to rewatch. I don’t understand the difference bt adding something to the calendar or adding it to reminders so that it shows up in the calendar?
Ha! About a year ago I asked Siri to play some disco. The Bee Gees started playing and all of sudden it was 1977 all over again. I probably shouldn't have mentioned "disco". Thanks so much for watching!
Purchased a new iPad after 7 years 😢hate it have no idea how to use this dam thing 😊at my age and new products need a book 10th generation for dummies lol😊 thank goodness I found your channel 😊thanks so much for sharing 😊
Oh wow that is a super duper Torres case. Kickstand is versatile.❤ But I have a question about that red box on the counter behind you. What is it (tiny refrigerator??) where did you get it? Thanks for this video. Also young kids like me need your tips too. Hahaha thanks 😜
I am of your generation. I consider myself an iPad power user. I love traveling with my iPad. However there are a few areas where the iPad comes up short. I find bill paying difficult, as bank apps in iso are less than what we get on os. Also, NUMBERS is much more difficult on the iPad. Recently I traveled 2-weeks in Mexico, I ended up carrying my MacBook Air.
Hi Rich, thanks for all of your videos. I like the stand you use (not the sponsored one) but the one when you are talking about your audio pods. Can you let me know which stand that is? I am going to be retiring from my photography and selling my big desktop and going 100% iPad and would love that stand. thank you

I think it should be ok now. Apple had a serious issue with the iPadOS 18 update on M4 iPad Pros so they pulled the update. It looks like they fixed it not long ago so you should be ok to update it.
Yes - it's a tiny fridge. My wife bought it for me for Christmas a few years ago. I use it mainly as a colorful prop but it's a functioning refrigerator.
@@RichBowlin I should have explained myself better. The screen i am talking about is where the background is black and your folders are all on the left side. That is the screen i want too.
9/28/1946 Rich, thanks for this great Birthday pesent. With the mountain of foolishness called the App Store, there HAVE to be some useful gems in there. And you've done the digging so we don't have to. Plus - the accesories you recomend / advertise here I've learned to trust. If I had half the money back that I've wasted on my own "guesses" I'd not only be Elon Wealthy, but our landfills would be half as full. Thanks again, Rich.
If you tap "edit" in the upper left of your screen (the you have the Mail app open) you can choose to add "Today" as a filter to your list. That's all you have to do! Hope this helps.
Why does everyone think seniors are stupid? I’m 75 years old and kicking punks asses every day playing internet poker for real money. Plus I work everyday and do complicated work as a consultant for major oil companies and in demand because of my experience.
🤦🤦🤦 No one thinks seniors are stupid.. Its just that for older people, sometimes they need a different approach to learning technology they're not familiar with. A senior who is not used to using a phone may be very lost and confused if a 20 year old is teaching them how to use it and skipping steps they (20 year old) assumes one may know, like how to tap or swipe or download apps.

My computer experience is similar to yours, and I share your opinion of the other iPad channels. I get far more out of what Rich has to say.
You know how to make the iPad a workhorse. Thanks for the reminders we sometimes forget about.
All those apps are brilliantly designed. You can also use reminders with location based triggers so you can be reminded on cue and at/on a specific location.
Yes. I'm using location triggers more and more. Mainly because I forget something when I'm at a store.

I’ve been using the PARA idea for my email app/folders & MacOs desktop & iCloud folders.

Glad it was helpful! Tiago Forte's PARA method just works - at least for minds like ours! Thanks so much for watching!
Many thanks, Rich - simple but very efficient how-to videos - really enjoy watching them!
Glad you like them! Thanks so much for watching!
A great informative video.Keep up the great work.
Thank you for your information it’s a great help. Where did you purchase your 4x4 stand for your desk top?
I love my iPad and all their features !
Me too!

Thanks so much! My reward in all of this is that people find the videos helpful. Your comments mean a lot.
I would add the Files app (with folders matching your PARA organizing principle) to any list of core iPad applications
I think that's correct. I did a full video on the Files app just a few weeks ago. Probably should have at least mentioned it here.
I purchased a new iPad 11” M4 but ios18 is not showing to be available in settings. Is there a problem with my iPad or with the update? Thank you

Did you say that you listen to music on your iwatch while you walk? How do you do that?
With AirPods. I'll be making a video on how I use them in the next few weeks.

How do i get the sme screen tht you hve. I have ipad 10th generation
I find most of my wallpapers on the web. I just add them to my photo library and then create a wallpaper from there.
