  • I finally got all the parts in...almost. So it’s time to bite into the disc brake conversion on this thing. The 1985 Ford Ranger (and just about every other small to mid sized RWD Ford) uses a 7.5” rear axle, the cheap conversion from drum to discs utilizes 94-04 Mustang V-6 or GT parts. These parts are plentiful in junk yards but also readily available in parts stores for replacements. You need mounting brackets, caliper brackets, calipers, rotors, pads, brake hoses, and all the associated bolts and nuts. It is pretty straight forward and can be done with basic hand tools. A really easy upgrade for older Fords.
