    I appreciate your channel.
    I own the 2015 Maserati Ghibli sq4 model.
    The total distance travelled was just over 50000 kilometers.
    Shouldn't we change the trans mission oil , diffrential and oil transfer case oil ?

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  5 років тому +1

      The Maserati Ghibli Service Manual says tranny, diff fluid replacement not envisaged in maintenance Schedule. Some people say you should change it at 50k miles, some say 70K. I have been researching this for weeks, and have not found any reliable information on this subject. Mostly those opinions come from backyard mechanics like me or transmission technicians. While I would normally trust the transmission techs, most are set in their ways as regards to legacy generation transmissions. The ZF8H in our Ghiblis is a new generation transmission requiring totally different, and expensive fluid than the legacy generation transmissions. So for me, the jury is still out. I know of some Ghiblis owners who have 100k+ miles on their Ghiblis and they have not had the transmission, differential fluid changed, and have had no issues with their transmission or differential. If I find any information more reliable then I will do a video on it.

      Thank you very much for your reply.
      In fact, I run a maintenance shop in Korea. I am a professional of Volkswagen and Audi, but I am riding Maserati because I really like it. I fell in love with this car's inexplicable charm.
      I really appreciate your sharing information and would like to give it to me if I can help.

      @@JamesDIYGarage many brands do that since the 2000's. The fluid last until the warranty lasts. But the truth is it must be serviced. I wouldn't go over 50k miles in the same fluid. It's not that difficult to do in many cars if you can go to a diy shop and put the car in an elevator or if you have one yourself (for the differential) for the gearbox we can see the @james diy garage video :) which is very good 👍

    What blower issue did you have I have a 2015 I just purchased and heater blows cold on driver side and warm on passenger side

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  4 роки тому

      My car was blowing only cold air on the drivers side. I brought it to the dealership, they installed a software update and that fixed it. Not right away tho, it took a couple days for the computer to learn what position the actuator was in. After a couple days it was working great. Cost was $180.00. This is a common issue on Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Maserati, Alfa Romeo because they all share the same parts bin when it comes to the climate control actuators.

    Excellent as always james. I'm here in the UK and were still.so reliant on dealer mechanics over here . I'm trying to follow your example and do some DIY maintenance. As a point to note, do you have any advice on where to get ghibli fault codes. I'm trying to build a bible for that dreaded day that hopefully will never come .

    i have a question, do you service your transmission? fluid change?

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  5 років тому

      No, the transmission fluid is not on the maint schedule. What it does say is the transmission fluid is not visaged to be changed for the life of the vehicle. Having said that, there are videos on how to change the fluid on the ZF 8H transmission. So if feel you need to change it, you use those videos as a guide. I won't be doing mine unless there is something wrong with the performance of my transmission. Many car manufacturers have used that ZF 8H tranny in their production cars. Its a pretty solid performing tranny. The Dodge Demon uses it. So if it can handle 808HP and as much torque, I am confident it can handle the measly 404hp and 400+ torgue my Ghibli puts out. Lol.

    Do you ever have to do a flue injection system or remove the intake ?

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  5 років тому

      It's not on a maintenance scheduled, it's an "As Required" type of maintenance.

    Hello james after replaced oil and filter i checked the oil pressure gauge when i drove my car after 2600rpm my pressure maxed high is that normal? (At idle pressure above middle)

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  5 років тому +1

      No such thing as high oil pressure. It's not like us and our blood pressure. Maxing out is normal, mine does it too with the higher rpm. Whats bad is LOW oil pressure. Low oil pressure could mean lack of oil, a clog or kink in an oil line, a bad oil pressure sensor or in a worse case scenario too much wear on engine bearings. So if your oil pressure stays consistently low, (Well below the red area on the oil gauge) and does NOT max out when you rev the engine, that is cause to be alarmed. If it maxes out when you rev it, that's a good thing. At Idle and at normal operating temp it should be stay between just above the red area and maybe a quarter way. Mine stays just above the red area, never saw it go lower. Of course if the engine is not yet at normal operating temp the oil pressure will be high because it's still a bit thick. The heat thins it out just a bit, and that's why you never want to push the engine RPM above 3.5K before the engine is at normal operating temp. The engine is at normal operating temp when both coolant and oil temp have reached half way up the scale. Takes longer in winter than it does in summer. I always drive it in ICE mode until the engine is at normal operating temp. Then it's "Paddle Time!"

      And indeed many people will choose that route and save time rather than money. My K&Ns cost a little over $100.00, The recharge kit was $13.00. Would have only cost me 3 hours of time including drying time to clean and recharge the K&Ns if not for the time to setup for and actual video recording. Also, these K&Ns only need to be cleaned and recharged every 50K miles. I only had 10K on mine, but I did it for the sake of my viewers.
