    I am a musician, and these types of exercises are very common in music academies to train coordination, dissociation and also to work on different types of rhythmic patterns simultaneously. It is very important for mastering an instrument, singing in vocal ensembles and perceiving accents and beats, to name just a few examples. So it is not at all useless, in my opinion.

    • @Kanathil
      @Kanathil 20 днів тому +20

      Breaking down the difference between same direction and different direction helped me manage doing it
      For same direction, move one finger forward, the other back - one goes up and one goes down
      For opposite direction, again one goes forward and the other goes backward, but either both go up or both go down
      Alternatively, both go forward but one goes up and one goes down (this variant still messes me up though)

    As a drummer, here is the trick:
    Have both fingers start at the "top" (touching) and then you move one forward and one backwards for only half a circle until they meet at the "bottom". Pause there. Then think about the second half how to close the cycle. Pause and repeat.
    Like this you split the problem into small, solvable bits until your brain figures out the movement.

And my brain actually feels exhausted. Like cardio but only in my head. I can’t do it well but I’ve def made progress. Thanks everyone.

      How I've tried starting with arm extended from my sides then to my chest I can't with elbows bent good work

    • @DragonSam21
      @DragonSam21 Місяць тому

      @@theguy2742 some say to imagine a center point around where you’re rotating(fingers facing each other). The one suggestion that helped me get started is imagining a square. The face of the square is facing your hands and the edge is facing your chest. Starting from the top center(or any point that works for you) move your fingers opposite each other so they pace each other. Keep tracing the square in opposite directions. Do this til you’re comfortable then you can try circles.
      what also helped me is looking in a mirror. I realized when my hands go in the same direction my fingers would meet or overlap once. In the center part of the rotations circle. But when my hands go opposite they over lap twice. Top and bottom. You’ll be able to see that when you trace the imaginary square
      Hope what I said made some sense and helped out.
