Yep, have the books. Thanks Mr Flusser. Couldn't have done it without you. Was thinking the other day: if absolutely everything I had was lost, stolen or burnt to a crisp... the money spent wouldn't have been completely lost. It's, as Flusser says, been an education.
This was definitely cool. I remember when I was in college and picked up my first issue of GQ and saw an add for Alan Flusser’s book and knew I had to get it.
Love it!! The man who wrote the Bibles for any clothes horse, both Dressing and Style, since he knows all the rules, he can break them in his sartorial splendor. Thank you for your great interview, now I am hot to go have him make something for me. Great job Kirby
Like Alan reference to watching Fred Asta ire movies. The way mendressed in the 30s and 40s is an education in it self. Your videos are always informative and interesting Thanks Kirby.
Thank you for such a wonderful interview!! He truly is a style icon and I have learned a tremendous amount from his books. I started following him back in the 80's while working at Neiman Marcus selling Oxxford suits in college. I have all of his books (first edition) and had the pleasure of visiting his shop several years ago leaving with a signed copy of "Dressing the man". I am slightly curious about his combination for the interview. Was there a hoodie involved? Also Kirby, I really love (and look forward to) all of your informative videos.Your a class act, brother!! Rob in Newport Beach, Ca.
Thanks, Rob! What a great story about stopping by Alan's atelier and leaving with a signed copy of his book. Mr. Flusser is a true gentleman and has been nothing but welcoming to me every time I have visited. Plenty of more great interviews on their way!
Your signature to a UA-cam comment portrays your class sir. I too will be leaving comments of such calaber. I never thought of doing as such before. You brought educated couth to youtube from a comment point of view. Thank you. Ken, in El Paso,TX.
On the contrary, people who follow fashion and style blogs overestimate the importance of clothes. Most people really don't know enough to notice your expensive perfectly tailored fashionable clothes or they just don't care.
I watched both videos and I understand he is a style ICON and a hero of yours...Kirby how do you address his clothing choices for this video...I am confused by his choices...if this is spezzatura...an attempt at effortless style he totally missed the mark...
I think Flusser has just arrived to the point where he doesn't give AF. My grandfather was in the car business his entire life... and by the time he was Flusser's age, he really didn't care what he drove. He'd driven them all...
The Hanger Project Thanks for the response...that is an interesting take on it...and when you put it that way it is endearing...BTW I have been in the car business for 30 years....on the banking side...I am sure your Grandfather was an interesting character...people in the car business are some of the most misunderstood and interesting people!
Perhaps, Kirby is right, but Mr. Flusser is not home alone -- he's giving an interview for one of the best style blogs on the internet, so, his appearance is very questionable.
Fred Ronald King Jr The Flusser audio was terrible. We’ve since invested in some Lav mics for these types of shoots. His office was also dry challenging with its wood paneling and construction going on outside.
He talks the talk but he does not walk the walk. I don't care who you are, adidas trackpants instead of proper trousers simply does not look good. Had he skippet he jacket, kept the hoodie and scarf, fine. Although I still think he should put on a pair of pants for a video interview.

I watched this, and went out and bought Dressing The Man. What a treat it was to see this interview.

Haha. I think he's just gotten to a place where he doesn't care personally anymore. Doesn't mean he isn't incredibly knowledge.

Thanks Kirby.
Some of the best dressing was from this era

Exceptional information. impressive thoughts on men's stilling when dressing. Awesome job on this one Kirby.
Thanks, Michael!
Is that a Carhart zip up sweatshirt? Think I have that exact sweater
Gotta love that pinstripe jacket ....
Looking at previous interviews he seems to love it too. He wears that one alot

Whether consciously or sub-consciously, the way a person presents themselves with the clothing he or she wears creates an impression.
Great history here!
Incredible! Thanks!!
What on earth is he wearing! :-)

We really need to get new microphones

Six thousand dollar cashmere blazer.

His appearance is just laughable
For a man who is a sartorial he looks like a srtam of the street
