I just saw her in Atlantic City April 16. Her voice in person is just as clear, full and perfect as it is on any of these UA-cam videos. She is amazing!

When I saw this video the first time, it DESTROYED me. I was like “no way can a human being perform THIS live?!” Morissette is a different beast. Deep respect.

How many people can sing with such a connection and perfection of emotion in their THIRD LANGUAGE? I mean is there even one person in the world that can connect to that degree of understanding of the nuances of meaning in a language that isn't their first or even their second? So stunning.

One of Morissette's ability among so many others is that she is a great storyteller. This is very evident in her performances wherein she sings her heart out and bring out every emotion each phrase of the song as the listener gets drawn in and feel the same emotions. She is such a gem of a Vocal Artist.
I love morissette's version of this song. I respect the original artist Ms. Day as well but listening to this version is so peaceful & calming ❤️

I am always impressed with an Artist who impresses Pros. A professional who can feel the emotion of a special performance and is blown away by a true Talent. Weird, but my addiction to UA-cam is as a result of the pandemic. I have discovered Artists I would have never heard on US radio stations. Maybe it's an age thing but many have hit me to the core of my being. Tears mean you're alive and well.

Wonderful reaction! Morissette is a vocal assassin from which no genre is safe! Hopefully you will dive deeper into Morissette's work because what you fill find is a wonderful actress who can sing like few others. Morissette understands the 'event' of a song. She understands dynamics. She understands performance. When Morissette sings, we get a masterclass from a world class artist. The most important thing we get from Morissette is.....JOY!
Morissette's voice can make grown men cry with tears of joy. Morissette's vocals are gorgeous and she's beautiful in looks and personality.

I've watched this viral performance of morisette countless times whenever it's featured in yt. It feels like each time is the first your observations on every portion of her take made me understood more why people like me don't get tired of listening to it . I have to say your such a technically adept pro in music all we know as casual fans is it sounded great , masterfully sung. @@wilfredoaying930 it's a first because, just going by what she has said about this performance in her lives, it's not quite connected. In her lives she said she was a bit under the weather and going through some emotional stuff before she recorded "Rise Up" that day on the bus (Oct 2017) she said that most likely added to the massive emotion we have come to love with this performance, but she never said it was connected to ASF 2017. She had several gigs between ASF 2017 (which was Sept 2017) and this Wish Bus guesting (mid Oct 2017), that didn't indicate she was having vocal issues from performing at ASF 2017. 2018 was a different story. Before ASF 2018 she was in crazy high demand. She had a major concert tour in addition to several other major concerts, and multiple performances almost weekly. They took a toll on her vocally. Before ASF 2018 she had to cancel some concerts to rest her voice, and after her US tour that year she was put on full vocal rest for a few weeks (Nov - Dec 2018) but that is not connected to this performance of "Rise Up."

You are so genuine in what you do, and I just love it when I see someone so passionate about something they love. I have watched 3 of your videos, 4 if you include this one, and all I can say is that I enjoy every word that you say. I can strongly sense your love for music and the artists as well, which makes you an incredible teacher. She made an even version of this during covid lockdown. Morisette with Third Ave sang it acapella. I was blown away by this version in the wishbus; lockdown version launched me into the atmosphere.
This is the first song I saw of her. It was almost a religious experience for me. I cried all the way through it. This song has special meaning to me.

Though she came from Cebu which is far viable ( society )compared to Manila in terms of School trainings or learning especially in music industry but Morissette come to be one on top.

Love how you geek out on her vocals as well! It's interesting how she uses the different textures and subtle nuances to bring out the emotion in the song. We know intuitively that the grit conveys determination, the cries and breathiness sadness, vulnerability, desperation, etc.. This is a great example of nonverbal communication! even her posture, facial expression and hand movement convey the heart of the song and connects the listener! Well that's my take anyway.

In a time when the world is tearing at each other's throats and is struggling so much , This song, with her delivery, both acknowledges, the struggle but is also hope filled!
