- Celine is one of my favorite luxury brands...until it's not. It pains me to create this video, but I have to share my recent experiences with multiple Celine Triomphe bags and poor quality. In this video, I share three recent Celine purchases, all in Carmin shiny calfskin leather, that either had noise or odor issues. I'm hoping to hear something from Celine's customer service, but wanted to share my experiences for anyone else that may be thinking about these items (as potential things to consider). Enjoy!

I came across your video while looking for Celine Boston bag review. This is the 2nd video I watched. I experienced the same bad odor when I ordered online a bag from farfetch. I put the bag also outside for some hours for 3days I think but the smell just didn’t went off. So I sent the bag away. The size was also wrong to begin with. But the smell was the really the gating factor for me to return it. I also went to shop recently in 24S, so far the experience is nice with another Celine bag. New sub here.
That’s so weird (and frustrating)! I’ve seen some other unboxing videos lately and they haven’t mentioned any odors or they’ve commented on the lack of odor, so maybe Celine addressed it 🤷🏻♀️ (at least I’m hoping)…still giving it a little more time before I make any other bag purchases from Celine.

Oh! No! 🤦🏾♀️ I sorry you experienced these many issues . I just started liking Celine a few months ago . I want to try something different other than LV, Gucci. I was eyeing a new bag at Celine on yesterday . Now, I’m not sure !!
If you find something in-store, just be sure to take a good whiff and check for noises before you purchase 😉 I still love my Celine bags (Celine’s a GREAT alternative to those other brands)…I’m really hoping these are flukes.
Oh dear… so sorry about your horrible experience. I don’t have any Celine in my collection and was thinking about checking them out when I’m in Paris. Now I’m not so sure 😐
I still love my Celine pieces and would recommend them as a brand…just with anything new, make sure you check it thoroughly 😀✨
The stinky weed like odour was due to the dyeing process in some of their bags, that’s why they both were um… fragrant 😂. Probably why this shade is no longer sold. In fact I think they went back to the old way of dyeing.
I watched your celine boston bag videos many times and really felt like getting one in leather version. I really like the look but I’m worried the corners might scratch my clothes. I own the folco bag in leather and I do agree Celine has some quality issue like getting scratched easily, stitching etc. Still debating whether I should purchase boston or look for other brands especially when Celine keep increasing its price but decreasing in quality 😢
For what it’s worth, I haven’t had any issues with those handles causing damage to my clothing and I use my Boston bag…a lot. I’m aware of it when using the bag, but so far so good.
All luxury brands have quality issues, so it comes down to whether you feel purchasing is a risk you want to take. Which other fashion houses/bags are you considering?
I just received a Celine shoulder bag (Claude) and it already has tiny creases on top of the bag. Not sure if it is normal😢
Oh geez 🫣 Some tiny crease are inevitable because of the type of leather and design of the bag (I have some tiny creases along the back of mine), but I’d keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t get worse.
I went to my local Celine boutique one Saturday, tried the WOC Triomphe in Khaki and loved it, the only one they had. But I still wanted to look at other bags for other brands.
Then I went back the next Tuesday to try the WoC again, making sure it could fit my phone + glasses together, and this time the bag reeked. Just smelled so bad.
I’m so hesitant now 🥲 even to get my friend to get it from Paris. That bag jumped in price like 400 euro just this year alone so I been thinking long and hard before another price increase 😢
Ugh, I’m sorry you discovered the odor problem…but at least it was BEFORE you purchased it.
Given how luxury demand has slowed vs the past couple years, it’ll be interesting to see if and by how much these items increase in 2024. Hopefully you’ll be able to come to a decision on this WOC in the near future/before another increase 🍀✨
I purchased a red leather wallet from another luxury brand and exchanged it three times because of the awful smell! I was told that red dye can smell different. I decided to find something else. Do you think it could be related to the red dye used on the Celine bag? Just a thought.
Maybe, but the Teen Triomphe didn’t smell…only the minis 🤷🏻♀️
I experienced a Celine quality issue with their pouch (it was my first ever Celine purchase, i previously bought only from Gucci, Balenciaga and Dior). It may not be as expensive as a bag, but the edge painting melted when i JUST bought it. The SA literally forgot to give me the receipt and she gaslighted me saying that she did... lol, i returned it and it took them like 3 weeks to ship a new one (that still had some flaws) by that point i was too lazy to extend the drama further... I should've gotten the YSL Cassandre flap pouch with strap
🤦🏻♀️that’s terrible (the quality issue but also the SA interaction). I’m sorry that was your first experience with the brand. Hopefully you’re able to enjoy the pouch once some time has passed…or, do you still have time to return it and get the YSL pouch?
I just went 2.5 hrs away to try on this carmin color today. It’s STUNNING! But the bag had what looked like a Knick on the front and the inside had white/black residue that I couldn’t wipe off ☹️ so I passed.

Omg. I got the wallet on chain in April and it has that smell. I thought it was in my head. The smell has faded slightly, but it's still there.
It’s still there from April?! Ugh, that’s disappointing 😔 What color WOC did you get?
@@simply_her_perspective I got it in black. I’ve only use it once, it’s not my favourite, I don’t love the chain on it. I might look at getting the Bulgari Serpenti WOC, I think I’d use that more.
They’re a very similar size, but I like some of the details on the Bulgari / it looks really interesting (the chain, interior color, the stitching on the outer flap).
I tried the WOC in the shop and smell exactly like that! tried the black one and decided not going for it because of the WOC leather is looking different than the teen or the claude version. After watching some videos seems like claude is the best version of the triomphe. thanks for the review!

You have had some bad luck Heidi, good for you for sticking to your guns on standards. Frustrating but better to keep pieces you’re not doubting.

But the Triomphe shoulder bag doesn't have the same smell? That's very weird. Maybe the problem is in that colour in specific...
Nope - my Triomphe Shoulder bag has a normal leather smell. I too thought it may have been the color, but the Teen Triomphe didn’t smell (or rather, it smelled like my Shoulder bag). Since I’ve read about the odor on the WOCs and SLGs, I’m wondering if they use a different leather or different coating on the leather of those pieces 🤷🏻♀️…it’s very strange.

I would just take a break from Celine. I had the same odor from a YSL clutch and after 5 days couldn’t stand the fact that my closet smelled like weed. It is tattooed in my brain and I will never forget the smell of that bag!!!!! There is no way you would feel that luxury feeling smelling like that.
Very good point and sorry to hear about the YSL clutch. I ended up returning it and have been taking a break on Celine bags (definitely still hesitant/afraid to get another smelly piece 🫣).
I would return it. Who knows if the odor will come out.
Agreed - I’m leaning towards returning it. I’ve tried some different things to combat the odor and nothing is helping 🤦🏻♀️
I never understood why Celine is so expensive for what they are...
With these recent quality issues, I’m starting to wonder the same thing 😔🤦🏻♀️
