  • If, like me, it's been difficult to wrap your head around Dispatching for the new rail simulator 'SimRail' - this quick start guide may hopefully be of some use.
    Collecting tips from friends and guides across the internet I've tried to aggregate them here in one quick how-to video.
    Let's get in...

    we need sim game like this where the game doesn't hold our hands

    You couldn't route the HST [behind the commuter/regional] around it as the points are infront of the commuter. 19:30
    You have to [as you did] put the commuter/regional into the siding/platform and then let the HST through on the main line.
    Nice instruction to those who haven't done it before.
    Looks interesting [used to be a driver myself in the UK].

    My recommended "progression path" for learning dispatching is: Pilichowice for learning basics and controls; Oszlamowice, Opoczno, Gora Wlodowska for learning EDR, using sidings to pass faster trains; Knapowka, Psary for learning how to use single-track locking mechanisms. After that anyone should know how to play on any station, even with different style like Bedzin or Lazy.
    Also you had interesting malfunction. Block 1197 on track 1 from Pilichowice was white. That means connection with that device is lost and status of this section is unknown (you can even see at 12:59 that train 14123 disappeared and reappeared at 13:53). That why you can refresh your screen by clicking on station name and use "refresh" command, or something like that. So far it usually happen in game while joining the server. I hope we will get option to turn on random malfunctions in the future.

      My guess here is a player has joined the train as it's in that section. This is based on a reset where I joined SG immediately, watched a train go down Line 62, and then it suddenly vanished. While my eyebrow was arched, I noticed it come back, but this time there was a player in the box to the left of my screen.

      Don't forget the road crossing. Dabrowa Gornicza station is the one to go to learn before taking Katowice Zawodzie station

      @@CycloneGU Yes, train will disappear when player join/leave but it should be still is visible on the dispatcher monitor. You can also see at 13:25 and 14:10 this train is still a bot.
       @Blo0dyMustard
      Yeah, I forgot about that. So far only two stations have manual crossings.

      @CycloneGU Рік тому

      @@robert357900 Well, that disproves my guess. I wonder why it vanishes, then.

      @@CycloneGU Like I said, white colour means lost connection with device/element (in this case 1197 block) so dispatcher computer simply can't receive any signal from that device.

    I have a lot of time (over more hunderds hours) in this game, I love it, I thought, I'm expert in these devices, but actually I learned a new trick from this video. I didn't know, that we can navigate a route setup through switches. I knew, we can use only signals: the start and then the end signal, and the system choose the way between them. But if I'm correct, we can use other routes between the start and end signals, if we click the switches. If you need some tips, how to use the Domino style devices, let me know, maybe I can help, maybe to make a tutorial :)

    Although it looks like a very nice game, with a lot of features, I think the only way to go up against Dovetail is to provide the gamers with locomotives and routes that TSW3 hasn't already offered. And lots of them! For example they only have one steam locomotive available. People are waiting for Big Boys, Challengers, Dreyfuss Hudsons, Flying Scotchmans, Coal and Gas Turbines, Garratts, Crocodiles, etc. This is primarily the reason I would buy a train game, and secondly for its nice features. (TS Classic is just too old of a game, with poor graphics, and that's why I am not commenting about it).

      It is early Access, chill. And I AM sure other games do not have modern Polish trains like Dragon 2.

      I don't think it would be the best idea to focus on pumping out content. Focusing on a high quality standard across all content and features should be prioritized over making routes. Features that DTG doesn't offer. Which are already in the game. Multiplayer, dispatch, polish routes and trains, higher simulation depth, physics etc. Providing a different more solid experience is probably the way to go, otherwise you just end up trying to release content faster than your competition.

    Olszamowice is pronounced more like "Olshamovitzé". Pilichowice is "Peeleehovitzé" and Włoszczowa Północ is kind of a hard one - "Vwoshtchovah Poownotz". "Północ" means north so it's basically Włoszczowa North. Some Polish names are tricky to pronounce for most non Polish speakers

      @@schnauzahpowahz Hmm. I had to change away from presets just to get anything to work in Simrail. I did recently find things running in Firefox that impacted my recording quality, though. Several running Simrail maps got me up to 18,000 MB memory; that definitely caused an issue with the output. 😂

    There is a manual in the game. And if we have no at least one free section after the interlock signal, the route building will fail.

    Needs to have American freight added. Wouldn’t be as fast paced but it would be fun. Or a Amtrak Chicago line from their station. That would be insane
