Here in September on 2nd 2022, @11.30am, ITV4 is showing the rerun episode of the series and looking forward to it. Thanks, Alan for highlighting that ITV4 is showing it again
No, I used to watch this show religiously, and thought that the divine Ms. Bastedo was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. I'm 47 - My brother is 40, and, until recently, had not seen the show at all. He had a couple of days off work ill, and saw it on cable. He confided to me that he thought Alexandra Bastedo was, in his words:'Fucking gorgeous' He's not wrong. And neither is anyone who thinks the same! Top theme for a top show.
Love the show at age 11 I model myself after them!!! till love the show... I wish I went to visit the one who played Sharon she had an animal rescue farm... I thought she was so beautiful ! Love the episodes the got out of almost impossible situations
I remember this TV show in the 1960’s on one of the networks, I think it was NBC. That’s when they showed a few English based television shows in America.
Utterly fabulous! And what boy wasnt in love with Sharon McCready, what girl wasnt in love the Stuart Damon?? Bizarrley he appeared at Bernard Manning Clun in Manchester singing!
I bought this on DVD On Amazon i also got The Professionals The Sweeney Love Thy Neighbour & In Sickness & In Health, many more, I’m going for that Ghost in a White Suite next…
Was IMMEDIATELY hooked from first episode! ITC producer Monty Berman had an almost child like imagination! The Champions was mainly his idea! ESP- Extra Sensory Perception! We all have it in some form! If you have a bad feeling or awareness, what's it! 😊 1964- 1969- ITCs great hits were- The Baron-1965, The Saint started 62, colour 66, the fabulous Man in a Suitcase 1967, The Champions 68, Department S 69, Randall % Hopkirk 69! Jason King 71!😊
There's a geyser like the one in the opening credits in Canberra Australia...and when I was a kid I swear I thought the Champions lived in Canberra! It was a great show and I had a young boy's crush on Sharron Macready!
Great theme...I own this series finally, though I prefer the arrangement from the first season. Did you ever watch Department S? Another knockout theme.
Yes, Alexandra Bastedo was beautiful. She was a vegetarian and great animal welfare campaigner, setting up her own Animal Sanctuary (ABC) which still operates today in West Sussex (UK). Sad that she died of cancer at the age of 67. William Gaunt and Stuart Damon are both 84 now (2021)
RIP Alexandra Bastedo. I loved her too as a boy in the early seventies, so.imposibly gorgeous and sophisticated. My ideal woman of the future, but would now be described as a mutant or meta-human.
one of every 40-somethings favorite UK tv shows. some ways i'm kind of glad they didnt bring it back before - can you imagine the champions of the 80's ? mullets and lycra leotards - and thats just Tremayne ! or a 2000's version with annoying matrix type fight scenes
I have a different arrangement of this theme by Tony Hatch on old cassette tape, but god knows where it came from, anyone know of a different version to this one? Please help?
Yea, some shows are products of their times. Look what happened to Charlie's Angles. Also, today's producers just don't get it. Remember the Avengers Movie? Did he even WATCH the show???
What if all the psychic powers the tibetan monks had... who helped the three is actually in the occident now...that would be interesting...the complete mind mastery of the ancients versus..the so called mind masters of the occident...i know who i would put my money on...
This theme is packed with the most subtle harmonic progressions and expressive details. Congratulations to maestro Tony Hatch for this masterpiece.
I used to watch this with my parents in the evening . We all loved this show. Liked the theme song too.
She was the best looking woman, ever. May she rest in peace forever.
They did re-runs of this in the 90's over in England, I used to watch it with my dad when I was five! I loved it then and still do thanks to ITV4.
Same here!
