Every Land Rover gearbox is like a box of chocolates - you never know what your going to get until you open them up 😉
Very true!
I was surprised by a 1.003 in my d1 300tdi and the tc still locks up at 50 but 1500rpm so i think the 4hp22 has been played with aswell
Haven't yet ventured inside an LT230 as yet but all good to know.
They are 'interesting'!
Obrigado meu bom mestre.
Obrigado!
I may just have to move to Canada.
Top information as allways Mike.
Cheers for sharing.
Please do!
Can the diameter of the ATB shaft be measured without dismantling the box?
Measure the shaft, fit the box cover then order the correct Ashcroft ATB.
No - the spline in right in the middle of the box - need to dismantle the gears and remove the hub to see the spline - the outer diameter of the hub where the selector fork fits is the same
How does the ATB work? When do you use it? I never know when to engage the centre diff on my 300tdi... 🤷🏼♂️
Works with helical gears
It is permanent - it is almost like an automatic diff lock
