I was a bit concerned about my 1am night-before-the-trip aluminum welds, glad they held and my winch didn't get ripped off😅

Congratulations Hunter haha (glad they held too .. if they broke that would have been an awkward "well join us tomorrow as we recover our winch from the bottom of the lake " 😅 love what you guys are doing if you ever are in Houston/TX area and need a extra hand 👍👍
lol look at that bot tryin to do bot things. Hunter, you are a beast! keep up the great work!
What is this telegram you have been picked crapp
Just to be clear: the boat had already been on the water for 2 days before it sank, including spending the whole night after day 1 in the water tied to the dock with no problems. The plug I used was one of those cheap flip-tab plugs which somehow came loose while we were beached playing at a sandbar on day 2. The bilge pumps were working but one of them blew a fuse that I wasn’t aware so when I opened the ballast tanks to bring on an extra 5000lbs of water to make our surf wave…the combination of the water in the hull that the bilge wasn’t pumping out, the full ballast tanks, and rough waves in the channel was just enough to overload the boat and it sank within 30 seconds of us realizing the problem. There’s not much you can do in that situation in the middle of the channel surrounded by 500ft cliff walls. My family was perfectly prepared and everyone was safe.
Pay attention to the details or sink
Crap happens, the more expensive the toys the bigger the crap.
So, did you say that it’s going back to the factory for a redo? I would assume the insurance company would own it now unless you get paid to do the recovery and are buying it as scrap with a rebuilt title? None of our business just wondering if we will see it again? Thank you for all the time you put in the channel.
Freak accident. Wow and only 30 seconds? Damn. Glad you all were prepared.
Note to self:
Never serve "Sanka" brand coffee on your floating device.
Glad y’all are safe man, and the fact that y’all were at least able to recover it is awesome. Scary shit when you start to sink, I’ve been there before 2 miles from shore on Lake Superior
This happens so often I don't know why especially for an expensive boat like that they dont have an electric valve gate that shuts automatically when the engine starts as a secondary safety for the drain plug. It's easy to forget or maybe not tight enough I've done it myself.
hey D , it's so surreal to see a big company pavati come out and watch one of its own boats being recovered and learn from it , not many companies will . that's a momentum movement in itself. and seeing you & AWP collaborate is very beautiful to see , hopefully more videos in the future.
If you own a small company that sells luxury boats and one mysteriously sinks on a giant youtube channel you'd do absolutely anything you could to help and it wouldn't be out of the goodness of your heart, it would be out the preservation of your brand.
@@thekrls1 My point is common sense, no reason to get all upset about it.
Surreal? And they're not a big company but they gave him a $400,000 boat. Of course they'd be there this is crap press for them but huge views for him. Sad to do your sponsors that way, even when you pull your own plug out.
@@Jake-bt3fc I don't understand where I was upset lol each to their own opinion lol
@@Jake-bt3fc how is it pavatis fault, and since when were they a small company 😂

@@AFREAKINGLEMON I think he is referring to the boat sinking and the reasons for it happening.
It would be a good video tho i was hoping they would of showed a picture at the end of it cleaned at least
How much would it cost to clean and get the boat water ready and is it worth it? How did the insurance company handle the sinkage?
@@LBCTITAN thats a $120k rebuild easy.
It’s cool to see the Adventures with Purpose guys in a situation where they can show that they’re having fun and laugh. Usually it’s heavy situations so it’s not appropriate to show smiling and laughing. Both channels are so good, very cool to see them come together again.
Agreed. Jared, Doug, and their whole crew are some of the bravest and coolest dudes I know and can’t wait to do more with them
I think it a shame that this ass clown took adventures with a purpose away from helping people just to salvage the boat dave sank on purpose for views. If you really watch these videos its only about DAVE. You see very little content and a LOT of dave talking about himself. He reminds me of Dan Bilzerian, a complete fake who just wants attention.

And here I thought it was going to be a quick and easy boat recovery within two hours. Always optimistic but in the end great minds always find a way even if it’s two days later. Had a great time with you and your crew. Looking forward to the next one.

After what happened with his family and the board sinking so fast, I was really disappointed to see all of those guys WITHOUT lifejackets when I watched on AWP's video. Watching just to see from their aspect but disappointed all the same.
On another hand I told my husband you jinxed it Jared, as soon as you said it would be an easy pick it was a done deal! lol.
I believe he said it sank on labor day or am I wrong? That thing was sitting down there a while!
Keep up the good work

I work at SafeBoats and was part of the team on the construction side of these riverine patrol boats so I definitely know them from laying the hull plates all the way to the final finish welding side of the vessel. Going out on sea trials was a blast and will never forget, such an awesome boat!!
What a rad experience! Thanks for sharing! I’ve always been intrigued by this type of work.
Definitely the right boat for pulling that waterlogged Pavati up onto plane. I'd refurbish the Pavati, sell it, and keep the RPB. That thing is a beast.
They look absolutely amazing
Hows working for them?
It reminds me a lot of an engineer bridge erection boat.
Do you know what is?
It was used to launch, deploy and retrieve the engineer ribbon bridge.
I see your emotion. Family is Everything. You have done a Fantastic job. The boat does not matter. You rock man. I wish i had the ability to help you like your friends do. I am thankful, you, family, crew, and AWP are all together for this. Way to go.

Hunter keeps Dave's business afloat.
@@gapster46 apparently not his boat though haha
FYI for those that don't know, in heavy Ds case it was probably to late with the balists full of water but if you can get the boat moving and up on plane the water will start to drain out of a unplugged drain hole. A useful trick if your bilge pump stops working and you have access to the plug after your moving pull it out drain it then put it back In while on plane.
Used that trick quite a few times myself. Learned it as a teenager playing around in aluminum boats on the river. We would knock cracks in the welds jumping logs and stuff to get back in the swamps. Gorilla tape is the bomb for those cracks by the way, buddy of mine used it on his boat a few years ago and its still holding
Truth
Or you can jump in the water and stick a finger in the hole
Man a $400,000 boat and it has a cheap drain plug .... Not to mention you don't notice the boat getting low and full of water before you can get moving lol ....
I'm not saying it is b.s. .,.. but I smell b.s. and I'm not on a farm
@@DustinGould insurance fraud and money from recovery vids........ annnnddd the family was on the beach while it sank. what beach? looked boring. hmm cheap plug? yeah right. that boat sinking was a win win for D
Hard to believe, all that prep and equipment, none thought to bring an air compressor. Even a standard compressor could provide enough air to fill air bags and not use to breathe. Glad it all worked out and enjoyed watching the adventure.
And didn't check comms before leaving dock.
Glad you acted fast and got your family to safety❤️❤️that’s always first priority. boats can be fixed and replaced no matter the cost. loved ones cannot. awesome boat recovery guy’s awesome work
More glad that at 40:40 you can see the steering wheel cover still on the boat. You’re glad his family is ok, he had time to put a cover on a steering wheel for a boat headed to the bottom of the lake? 👀 👀
As an avid life long boater I’m so glad you require your kids to wear life jackets at all times, I see all too many people with young kids without their pfd’s on. Things happen so fast on the water there’s many times when there is no time to get them out from under seats or bins. If your a parent you need to be smart and prepare for the worst, it’s not worth your kids lives!!
My rule is if you are moving you better have your lifejacket for the kids. I also wear mine if we get up on plane or are moving fast. I also have a waterproof radio and signalling stuff with me. We only go on river and a few trips up to Lake Superior.
My rule is.. if your on my boat your in a life jacket. Period! Too many times we’ve seen search and rescue looking for someone under the water. I tell the kids all the time, Its not like a pool. I can’t see you under the water. I’m not going through that! They can deal with a farmer’s tan.

I want to see the cleanup! That stuff is satisfying to watch some strange reason.
99% sure that boat is headed for salvage....a LOT of stuff in a boat like that that's gonna be wrecked by 2 days at that depth, a ton of labor to clean and fix it all...cost to fix will eclipse cost to replace pretty quickly.
@@ericnoney3770 It will be interesting to see what happens to it.
@@ericnoney3770 it's an aluminum hull, not to mention it's 400k new. Definatley not gonna be scrapping it.
@@mikesmith8589 @Mike Smith That's not the kind of boat that you just let sit out in the sun for a few days to dry out and go, it's not gonna be $100/hour techs working on it, nor are the parts coming from some place like West Marine, lol.
That's all hand crafted stuff in that boat... Labor costs alone are doing to be stupid expensive. About the only thing in it that can be reused is the hull and top cap, and it will need to be completely stripped down and rebuilt.
I just don't see it being cost effective to do that amount of work to repair vs replace.
@@ericnoney3770 I totally see your point. The hull alone is a huge part of the value of the boat. Electronics and pumps can easily be replaced, and the engine gone through/rebuilt. Lots of labor yes, but definately cheaper than a new boat.
Looked up the specs on the Pavati boats. Apparently they are powered by Ford Raptor 6.2 V8 engines, either 450 or 575 HP. Pretty cool stuff.
FORD????? No wonder it sank!!! Throw an LS in there! Better Yet, since the engine's coming out anyways.... Give Elon a ring, he's got that 1,300 hp brushless electric, Instant Thrust, along with his new Sulfur battery that lasts 4 times longer than anything else and takes 10 minutes to recharge. I'm sure he would sponsor you!
👍😎👍
@@ceisarsrepair7958 tHrOw A cHevY iN It
@@ceisarsrepair7958 To be precise, it sank because the hull drain plug got pulled out, the ballast tanks took on water to lower the rear of the boat for skiing, the bilge pump got overloaded and quit, and down she went. The Ford engine didn't have anything to do with it. No reason to downgrade performance with a General Motors engine, and as for electric - water and electricity don't get along very well.
Not throwing shade at ford but being a mopar kid, I'd absolutely love to drop in a hellcat !

A boat this size and cost should have automatic bilge pumps AND bilge water level alarms. Letting water in for an hour or two before noticing the boat is settling is not a good thing.

Lake Powell no joke! Ice had my few adventures on this lake all a little crazy! The craziest is my 16ft. Bass boat stealing and one of the big wind storms coming in and making some huge waves and sinking my boat so i thought in middle of channel! With all wife and mine camping gear and life jackets that we stored in a bag location that were unable to get to before boat went down! Neighboring boat came to our rescue! Well went on our house boat trip thinking i just lost my boat and everything. Came back one week later and Found it!! Someone had found and beached it! THANK YOU STRANGER !
32:51 we recovered a boat by blowing air into the ballast tanks to displace water rather than pump them out, also we used a cargo net, set the boat into it and used that for lower lift points for raising the boat all the way to the surface - then we just pulled it on the trailer full of water and let the water out after gettign it ashore , then back it up one more time to get th cargo net out from between trailer and boat
This is almost exactly what I was thinking. Surprised they didn't bring an air compressor.
Air works different 100feet down.
It'd need ~50psi to get air down there so flow is down, and if I'm doing my math right you've got 720 gallons/6000lb of ballast tank capacity. 10cfm pump is going to take over half an hour to fill it, and I couldn't tell you if the Pavati's built-in ballast tanks could take 6000lb force in the wrong direction (and you'd turn the boat over too).

Great recovery guys getting it done making it look easy congrats.
Glad you and your family are safe. I could imagine what it must have been like for you knowing your boat was going down with your kids on board that far out. Better is a great recovery for the boat and the keys. Just got to sign me and my son love watching your UA-cam.
would love to see the 2 of you do future recoveries especially with the new recovery boat a benefit to both companies for sure

When you sit back and take a look what Heavy D is responsible for creating it’s pretty amazing. I mean all the crew there. The paychecks, the equipment, a freaking boat recovery at 95ft down. Some people simply have the gift. And he’s doing all this shit while still kinda young, maybe young? It’s pretty cool, it’s actually really really cool. He and his buddy were put here to have fun and make money, lots of money baby!
He sank his own boat for clicks and insurance money, then spent some of the money on getting his boat back... I'm not sure what you "respect" here. Paying people? People actually employ people, without committing fraud. it's not like he's investing, here. He's scraping a bit
of profit off his take for the help.
@@mikescherrer4923 Way to say you're envious without saying, "I'm envious!" 👌😆
@@mikescherrer4923 who pays insurance on a boat?
Nice video and got rescue of the boat.
But at @35:00 i have some critic NEVER TOUCH A ROPE WHICH IS BEING WINDED.
A steel Rope is not so damger but a Poly Butane Rope which splits in half can rip your body apart.
Gotta say job well done seems to me this world starts jobs and doesn't finish them its nice to see a job from start to finish and glad you and the family is safe great job
Great job guys! I’m glad your family and friends are safe!
That was an amazing recovery. The Navy boat is just awesome! Well done!
Holy smokes, with as many pumps you guys are rockin, should took 15 mins to float that boat. Love watching things like this. Super happy no one got hurt or injured when it went down. I've recovered many boats on Lake Powell. Power boats to houseboats.
Dude you can barely spell boat much less recover one that sinks! Bathtub boat recovery doesn't count!
@@robsim4692 Dude? Hahahaha!!!
What a scary situation especially for the little ones! Glad everything is good!
